To investigate the present states and analyze the library anxiety among academic library users, A University library users sampled systematically and surveyed. Data collected from 707 students are analyzed and compared with the previous studies. The average LAS score is 2.55 and show differences in sex, grade levels, and major areas of study. Library use instruction reduces anxiety subscale of barriers with staff. Library anxiety is also differed according to the frequency of library visit. Especially, the anxiety subscale of affective barriers is decreased according to the grade level and frequency of library visit. Based on the results, recommendations are suggested to overcome the library anxiety.

The major indicating data of academic, public, and school libraries which were mentioned in the Korea library yearbook 1998 through 2007 were collected for this study. The results were analyzed and the methods that may be applied to a library management were presented in this paper. The collected data were analyzed by using the MS-excel and SPSS. The numbers of libraries, personnels, collections and their used ones, users, management budget were used for the variables of this study, and the correlation coefficients and non-parametric method etc. were used for the variable analysis. The results show that public and school libraries are growing consistently, but academic ones get stagnant currently.

The purpose of this study is to identify (1) the attitudes of seniors toward library digitalization, (2) factors that lead them to use digital information in libraries, and (3) factors that hinder or prevent them from using digital information in libraries. As a result of conducting 1:1 in-depth interviews with 20 senior users of the National Library of Korea, the majority of seniors had a favorable attitude toward library digitalization. 'Librarian' and 'vision and font size' were found to be the most important factors for seniors' use of digital information. These two factors are factors that enable the use of digital information, but they are also factors that prevent or hinder the use of digital information. In addition, factors for the use of digital information include 'characteristics of the content' and 'convenience', factors for non-use include 'attitude and psychological factors' and 'physical properties of books', and hindering factors include 'website usability issues'.

This study analyses the relationship between learning style and library skills. The components of learning style and library skills were extracted through literature review. The relationship between learning style and library skills was verified by using T-test. The results indicate that there was Sub-variables of library skills such as 'decimal classification', 'using reference sources', and 'recognizing the parts of a book' had a significant relationship with global variables of learning style. Thus, when the user education for each type of learning style will be considered.

This study examined whether there is any difference in the public library patrons' library uses depending on their participation in the educational and cultural programs of such libraries. Additional analysis was conducted to determine if the particular educational and cultural program participants' showed any consistent library use patterns. The statistical analysis of such program offerings and the patron survey data resulted in the findings such as that there were statistically significant differences in how the patrons' used the libraries, the number of library resources borrowed, and the frequency of library websites and/or mobile applications used based on their participation in the educational and cultural programs and also the types of programs that they attended.

Recently there have been an increase in number of new library buildings and its users due to the demand of lifelong learning and cultural experiences of the local community and also the extension to their opening hours. At the same time there have been a growing number of problem users in local libraries. This seems closely associated with an increase in number of unemployment rates and their mental health issue. This causes a great challenge to the local libraries. in particular, to the front-line librarians. If these challenges are not dealt appropriately at all levels within the library organization the overall quality of services is likely to degrade leaving the general users dissatisfied and the staff adversely affected. Therefore in this study we propose a charter of library service and a library code of conduct to meet the aforementioned challenges and enhance the overall quality of library services.

본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 이용자의 만족도와 이용자특성에 따른 영향을 알아봄으로써, 대학도서관 이용자 서비스 제공 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구대상은 경기도에 소재한 K대학도서관 서비스를 이용하는 학부생 40명, 대학원생 40명, 교직원 20명, 총 100명을 대상자로 하였다. 연구방법은 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 이용자들의 인식에 관한 문항 설문지로 하였다. 이용자 특성에 따라 도출한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 학부생의 만족도는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 2. 대학도서관 주제전문서비스를 이용하는 대학원생, 교직원의 만족도는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이용자가 선호하는 서비스 방법은 도서관 홈페이지를 통해 제공받는 방식을 선호하였다. 따라서 본 연구를 종합해보면 향후에는 본 연구를 바탕으로 주제전문서비스를 처음 시행하는 대학도서관이 주제전문서비스를 시행할 때 목표달성에 기여하고, 서비스를 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 좋은 귀감이 될 것이라 판단된다.

Academic libraries are trying to develop fully mobile web sites and mobile applications so that users can access to their services even using mobile devices. As the mobilization trends of library services increase in quantity, we need to more focus on what mobile services users want, ultimately for the growth with quality. This study seeks to explore users' needs and uses of mobile library services and then suggests solutions for improving the mobile services in academic libraries. This study conducted on and off-line surveys with 608 students from two universities, which have provided active mobile services with both a mobile web site and an application. The questionnaire was designed to elicit information on respondents' frequency of mobile library visit, the purpose of visit, the reason to use/not use, how to access to the services, the preferred types of the services, satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors, and urgently needed improvements. Based on the findings, this study discussed strategies to improve the quality of mobile services and to increase in users' visit.

정보관리의 최종 목적은 보다 적극적인 정보 이용의 효율성을 제고하는데 있다. 이를 위한 해결 방안에는 여러 방법이 있을 수 있으나 본 연구에서는 비이용 현황을 조사하고 비이용자 집단이 갖는 특성을 분석하고 이를 통한 비이용 요인을 해소하여 결과적으로 잠재적 이용자들을 성실한 도서관 정보이용자로 전환할 수 있는 기초 자료를 제공하였다. 연구의 결과 과학기술 분야 연구자들을 대상으로 비이용자들의 분표 상태를 밝히고 이들의 비이용 요인으로서 근속 연수, 전문직 사서들의 근무 태도, 연구실과 도서관과의 거리등이 도서관 이용에 결정적 역할을 한다는 사실을 밝혔다. 이러한 비이용 요인의 규명은 현행 정보시스템을 개선하거나 새로운 정보시스템을 설계할 때 참고할 수 있는 근거가 될 수 있다.
