This study was investigated on the effects of colchicine and EMS. induced mutation, plant on the germination and polypeptide pattern and peroxidase activity monitored by two dimensional gel analysis in Wasabia japonica Matsum (wasabi). Germination rate of Muju was higher than that of Ulrung-Do and optimum concentration for germination was appeared 100 ppm GA3 containing with 10 ppm BAP in these cultivars. Survived plants rate of Muju was higher than that of Ulrung-Do after colchicine and EMS treatment. Peroxidase activity and plant height were decreased by mutagen treatments, while incresed in root and stem thickness. The number of protein spots and pattern showed difference between Muju and Ulrung-Do . The plants treated mutagen increased polypeptide spots, especially EMS treatment showed more different polypeptide pattern compared to control.

We see the term in Tosan 12 songs and other poems by Leehwang. The term means 'Birds fly in the sky, Fish swim in the water.' It is important I think in that it is the point of contact between his poems and thought. There is a gap between original text of , [The way of mean (중용)] and Leehwang's understanding. It is same with Buddhism and Taoism as confucianism in the idea that we cannot describe the Ultimate into the human language. is the very confucian way of that. But Leewhang has the peculiar idea that it can't pass over the Moral state even though its meaning is over the human language.

Paralytic shellfish toxins in mussels Mytilus edulis and dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarene from Jinhae Bay, south coast of Korea were investigated. The mussels collected in March-April, 1989 showed toxicities of 7.5 MU/g of whole meat(31-88 MU/g of the digestive gland) , and those collected in 1990 showed toxicity level of 1.9-9.9 MU/g of whole meat by the standard mouse bioassay. Analysis of toxins by high performance liquid chromatography revealed the presence of gonyautoxin 1-4$(48-76\%)$ gonyautoxin 8 and epi-gonyautoxin $8(C1-C2,\;14-39\%)$, saxitoxin$(1-10\%)$, neosaxitoxin$(l-7\%)$ and trace amount of decarbamoylgonyautoxin 2 and 3(dcGTX2, dcGTX3) in the mussels of 1989. While, Mussels collected in 1990 contained a significantly larger proportion of neosaxitoxin $(44-50\%)$ than did those of 1989. A. tamarense isolated in April 1989 produced the same toxins in culture with slightly higher proportion of Cl, C2, dcGTX2 and dcGTX3 than in the mussels. The difference was within a range of toxin change during accumulation by shellfish and during sample preparation for analysis. It was thus concluded that the dinoflagellate was the cause of toxins in the mussels.

When the contents of the constituents such as total amino acids, free amino acids, volatile organosulfuric compounds and steroidal saponins among three origins in the aerial-and underground parts of Allium victorialis, it was suggested that the characteristic components regarding to quality evaluation could be differed according to the purpose of utilization. For the utilization of amino acids, underground parts of this plant was shown to be better than aerial part. In addition, Ulung island origin was found to contain the highest amino acids content among the three origins though the difference was small. The amino acids showing remarkably high contents were appeared to be arginine, glutamine and asparagine. In the volatile organosulfuric compounds, the origina of Mt. Odae and Mt. Chiri positioned in inland showed higher contents than Ulung island origin geographically positioned in the ocean. Inland origins were shown to contain higher organosulfurie component contents in aerial parts than in underground parts while those of Ulung island origin were higher in underground parts than aerial parts. Underground parts, regarding to saponin constituents, showed higher contents than aerial parts. Underground parts of Ulung island origin were shown to contain more saponins than those of other two origins and the sequence of the contents was in the order of Ulung island>Mt. Chiri>Mt Odac.

Morphotaxonomic study was made on the Leathesiaceae of Cheju Island. One species of Petrospongium, P. rugosum, and three of Leathesia, L. difformis, L. sphaerocephala, and L. verruculiformis, were found in Cheju Island. Myriactula species was not found in the locality. L. verruculiformis was described as a new species of the genus Leathesia. L. verruculiformis was characterized by the less compact cortical layer, clavate assimilating filaments, and plurilocular sporangia born in tufts.
