  • USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) is the network that widely applies for life of human being. It works out to sense, storage, process, deliver every kind of appliances and environmental information from the stucktags and sensors. And it is possible to utilize to measure and monitor about the place of environmental pollution which is difficult for human to install. It's studied constantly since it be able to compose easily more subminiature, low-power, low-cost than previous one. And also it spotlights an important field of study, graft the green IT and IT of which the environment and IT unite stragically onto the Network. This study realize a IAQM(Indoor Air Quility Management) sensing mechanism composition under the network and suggest the application of Environment monitoring system outlook to measure an Environment element.

  • It is needed for one to design the better models estimating emission and then with the real time data, make the monitoring system simulating emission rate because of having built the basement of accepting real-time traffic information in ITS projects. The objective of the study is to develop the monitoring system visualizing air pollution to a certain place. It is based on the estimated emission from the patterns of individual vehicles and the changes of traffic flow. For constructing simulator, we loaded referring algorithm in actuality program and simulates the traffic flow movement in a microscopic viewpoint. The simulator is able to express not only the movement of each car but also to visualize processing the emission and diffusion of the air pollutant by computer program. Not only expresses the simulation process the angle of vision but it also cutting down environment expenses and improving the traffic impact assessment and the traffic impact assessment.

  • 팔머가뭄지수(Palmer Drought Severity Index, PDSI)는 가뭄을 정량적으로 표현하기 위해 제안된 최초의 포괄적인 가뭄지수라 할 수 있다. 가뭄을 단순히 하나의 기상인자로만 판단하려 한 것이 아니라 수문순환 과정 속에서 여러 가지 요소들의 복합적인 작용에 의한 결과로 인식하고 이를 가뭄지수 산정 과정에 고려하고자 하였다. 따라서 PDSI는 가뭄뿐만 아니라 습윤상황을 모니터링 하기 위한 용도로 이용될 수 있으며, 수분수지 분석을 통해 얻을 수 있는 함양량, 유출량, 토양수분량의 정보는 그 자체로서도 분석 대상 지역의 수분상황과 관련된 중요한 정보라 할 수 있다. 이러한 점에서 PDSI는 방법론상의 여러 가지 한계에도 불구하고 지금까지 가뭄의 모니터링 및 관리를 위해 우리나라를 비롯한 여러 국가 및 지역에서 널리 이용되고 있으며, 가뭄 정량화를 위한 새로운 가뭄지수 개발 시 적합성의 비교 기준으로 고려되고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 우리나라에서는 PDSI에서 고려하고 있는 기상 및 수문학적 조건이 우리나라의 상황을 적절히 표현할 수 있는가에 대한 검토가 미흡한 상황이라 할 수 있다. 우리나라의 자료를 이용하여 PDSI를 산정하였다 할지라도 지수 산정 과정에서 고려하고 있는 기상 및 수문특성이 적절하지 않을 경우 산정된 PDSI가 나타내는 가뭄상황과 실제 우리나라의 가뭄상황은 다를 수 있다. 특히 PDSI 산정 과정에서 잠재증발산량 산정 방법으로 이용하고 있는 월열지수법은 방법의 한계로 인해 우리나라와 같이 동절기 평균기온이 0도 이하로 떨어지는 경우에는 증발산량이 발생하지 않는 것으로 고려하고 있다. 이는 우리나라의 실제 증발산 발생 양상과 비교할 경우 크게 차이가 나는 점이라 할 수 있으며, 강수량과 증발산량의 관계에 대한 검토로부터 지수 산정 과정이 시작되는 PDSI에 있어 이러한 오차는 결과의 신뢰성 확보에 많은 어려움을 초래할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존 PDSI에서 이용하고 있는 월열지수법을 대체할 수 있는 방법에 대해 검토하였으며, 잠재증발산량 산정 방법의 변경에 따라 산정된 PDSI의 변동 양상에 대해 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 가뭄 모니터링 및 관리를 위한 지표로 널리 이용되고 있는 PDSI의 활용에 있어 유용한 정보 제공이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Recently, natural and anthropogenic disasters have rapidly increased due to the on-going climate change and various human activities. Remote sensing (RS) technology enables the continuous monitoring and rapid detection of disastrous events thanks to its advantages covering vast areas at high temporal resolution. Moreover, RS technology has been very actively used in disaster monitoring and assessment since cluster- and micro-satellites and drones were introduced and became popular. In this special issue, nine papers were introduced, including the processing and applications of remote sensing data for monitoring, assessment, and prediction of various natural disasters. These papers are expected to serve as useful references for disaster management in the future.

  • As a part of basic studies on monitoring and saturation estimation of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) storage using resistivity survey, laboratory experiment has been conducted to measure the change of the electrical resistivity through repeated experiments of supercritical $CO_2$ and brine water injection into homogeneous and heterogeneous sandstones. The $CO_2$ saturation is estimated by using resistivity index based on the resistivity measurements. The experimental results of two types of sandstones show that the effect of pore structure in the rock and the effect of contained clay minerals in the rock can be affected to calculate the $CO_2$ saturation. The result can be useful to evaluate the $CO_2$ saturation based on resistivity survey at the site where $CO_2 sequestrates.

  • Financial institutions keep putting efforts to filling cash into ATMs and branches in order to provide customers with better service. This kind of job usually required an automobile unit to be done, and financial institutions employee perform this task directly or sourcing out to professional security service companies. However, the job has been of ten a target of criminals because it deals with cash. In fact, since 2003, there were several cash truck robberies occurred. This circumstances made the public be aware of the necessity of creative research and the strict management of financial institutions and security companies. However, the existing studies on security service of cash delivery suggest only how to improve the job legally and in operation, and the technological aspect of the improving way has not been studied. Therefore, this study aimed at suggesting an improvement the security service of cash delivery using real-time binary CDMA monitoring for providing better safety service to customers.

Forecasting Model Design of Fire Occurrences with ARIMA Models (ARIMA모델에 기반한 화재발생 빈도 예측모델의 설계)

  • A suitable monitoring method is necessary for successful policy implementation and its evaluation, required for effective prevention of abnormal fire occurrences. To do this, there were studies for applying control charts of quality management to fire occurrence monitoring. As a result, it was proved that more fire occurs in winter and its trend moves yearly-basis with some patterns. Although it has trend, if we apply the same criteria for each time, inefficient overreacting fire prevention policy will be accomplished in winter, and deficient policy will be accomplished in summer. Thus, applying different control limits adaptively for each time would enable better forecasting and monitoring of fire occurrences. In this study, we treat fire occurrences as time series model and propose a method for configuring its coefficients with ARIMA model. Based on this, we expect to carry out advanced analysis of fire occurrences and reasonable implementation of prevention activities.

Implementation of Water Depth Indicator using Contactless Smart Sensors (비접촉식 스마트센서 기반 수위측정 방법 구현)

  • Water level measurement is highly demanding in IoT monitoring areas such as smart factory, smart farm, and smart fish farm. However, existing water level indicators are limited to be used in industrial fields as commercial products due to the high cost of sensors and the complexity of algorithms used. In order to solve these problems, our paper proposed methods using an infrared distance sensor as well as a hall sensor for the water level measurement, both of which are contactless smart sensors. Data errors caused by the inaccuracy of existing sensors were decreased by applying new simple structures so that versatility is enhanced. The performance of our method was validated using experiments based on simulations. We expect that our new water depth indicator can be extended to a general-purpose water level monitoring system based on IoT technology.

Wireless Network Safety Management System on LPWA-based Tram Roads (LPWA 기반 트램 노면의 무선통신망 안전관리 시스템)

  • A system to prevent disasters by collecting and analyzing environmental information such as road surface sedimentation, sinkholes, collapse risk of bridges, temperature and humidity around tram station is continuously monitored by monitoring the condition of road surface when constructing tram which is one of the urban railways. In this paper, we propose a wireless network security management system for tram roads based on LPWA that can recognize risk factors of road surface, bridge and tram station of tram in advance and prevent risk. The proposed system consists of a sensor node that detects the state of the tram road surface, a gateway that collects sensor information, and a safety management system that monitors the safety and environmental conditions of the tram road surface, and applies the low power long distance communication technology. As a result of comparing the proposed system with the LTE system in the field test, it was confirmed that there is no significant difference between the sensor information value and the critical alarm level in the monitoring system.
