Experiment of Air Bubble Movement (Air Bubble 거동 특성 실험)

  • 날로 심각해지는 해수 오염, 유류사고, 해파리에 의한 인명피해 및 발전소의 경제적 피해사고, 해양 쓰레기 등과 같은 해양 환경 문제가 발생하고 있다. 이러한 해양환경문제를 해결하기위해 생물학적 방법과 물리적 방법이 있으나 생물학적 방법은 개체군과 종류의 변화로 그 적용이 어려운 실정이고, 물리적 방법은 지속적인 제거를 위한 비용적인 문제와 인부 및 자원봉사자의 안전문제가 발생한다. 따라서 에어버블을 이용한 각종 친환경적 방법이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 에어버블 차단막의 차단율을 증가시키기 위해 현장조건 내에서 에어버블의 거동특성에 대한 실험을 하였다. 실험을 위해 회류식 개수로 에어버블 거동실험장치를 제작하였다. 실험장치는 길이 8.1m, 높이 1.2m, 폭 0.7m이며, 두께 10mm의 투명 아크릴를 사용하여 에어버블의 거동을 관찰 할 수 있게하였다. 대형펌프를 사용하여 물이 회류함을 통해 흐름유속을 만들어 현장조건을 고려하였다. 에어버블을 분사하기 위해 압축공기 저장탱크와 연결된 분사구가 있으며, 노즐의 크기(0.5mm~1.0mm)로 분사량을 조절하고 분사압은 별도의 조절장치를 이용하여 0~5bar 범위의 분사압 조절을 가능하게 하였다. 초고속 카메라와 3축유속계를 사용하여 에어버블의 이동경로, 유속 및 에어버블의 거동을 측정하였다. 실험을 통한 구간별 에어버블의 거동 분석 결과, 상승속도는 분사구에서 분출되는 구간인 0~0.8m 에서는 상승속도가 증가하고, 0.8~1.2m구간에서는 속도가 다시 상승하는 경향을 확인하였다. 이는 수표면에 가까워질수록 수압이 작아져서 에어버블의 크기가 커짐에 따라 부력이 커짐으로 판단된다. 같은 이유로 분사량이 많을수록 상승속도도 같이 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 유속에 따른 거동은 유속을 0.1m/s~0.5m/s로 조정하여 유속별 에어버블이 수표면까지 도달하는 거리, 속도 및 이동경로를 분석하였다. 유속과 에어버블이 수표면까지 도달하는 거리는 비례하여 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 실험결과를 바탕으로 조건에 따른 에어버블 거동 경험식을 도출하였다. 본 실험은 회류식 개수로 에어버블 거동실험장치를 활용하여 에어버블 거동 경험식을 제시하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 에어버블 차단막 기술 개발을 위한 기초자료로 이용될 수 있을 것이다.

Computer Simulation for Development of Electron Gun for MCP Cleaning (MCP 세척용 전자총 개발을 위한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션)

  • Computer simulation was performed using the SIMION program to develop an electron gun for MCP cleaning. The target, MCP, is located 180mm from the source of the electron gun, and the diameter of the MCP is approximately 20mm. Therefore, we tried to find the condition that the beam diameter of electrons reaching the MCP is to be 20mm using four variables such as E, ${\phi}$, d1, d2, where the E is the energy of the electron reaching the MCP, the ${\phi}$ is the diameter of the extractor, and the d1 and the d2 are the distance from the electron source to the end of the extractor tube, and to the wall of chamber, respectively. As a result of simulation, we figuried out that the E and the d2 have little effect on the beam diameter. On the other hand, we also found that the beam diameters were very sensitive to the d1 and varied relatively large with respect to the ${\phi}$, and the d1 was the secondary order function of the ${\phi}$. Therefore we found that this function will allow us to design electron guns that are suitable for the purposes of this study.

Estimation of Velocities of Acoustic Signals and Source Locations in PSC Beam by Acoustic Emission (AE기법을 이용한 PSC보의 음파속도와 음원위치 산정방법)

  • Experimental tests were performed to estimate velocities of the acoustic signals through prestressed concrete beam and source locations using acoustic emission (AE) techniques. Seven AE sensors are mounted on the surface of 5m length test beam with equal spacing and using Schmidt Hammer AE events are made at 18 locations. The velocities of AE signals are estimated using the time differences of arrival times and the distances between the source locations and the AE sensor locations. In addition, using the Least Square Method, the AE source locations are re-evaluated reversely using both of the arrival times and the velocities of AE signals. Test results show the average velocity of the AE signals is about 4,000 m/sec and the velocity decreased with the increase of the distance from source locations to AE sensors due to the effect of attenuation. Based on the estimation of the source locations, it is observed that the errors of source locations are decreased when the velocities of each AE sensor are used rather than the average velocity.

A Study on the Deposition Characteristics of Debris Flow Using Small-scaled Laboratory Test (실내 모형실험을 통한 토석류 퇴적 특성 연구)

  • This study was conducted to understand the deposition characteristics of debris flow and to analyze the reduction effect of debris flow damage by installing a berm. Flume experiments were performed in consideration of various channel slope and volumetric sediment concontration. In order to analyze the reduction effect of debris flow damage by installing a berm, the cases of not installing a berm and the cases of installing a berm were compared. In this study, the runout distance, total travel distance, and mobility ratio were analyzed among the deposition characteristics of debris flow. First, the deposition characteristics of debris flow according to the change of the channel slope were analyzed, and the deposition characteristics of debris flow due to the change of volumetric sediment concentration were analyzed. In addition, the change rate of debris flow deposition characteristics when a berm was installed was calculated based on the case when a berm was not installed. As a result of the experiments, it was confirmed that the channel slope and volumetric sediment concentration had a significant effect on the deposition characteristics of debris flow. In addition, when a berm is installed on the slope, the runout distance and mobility ratio of debris flow are greatly decreased, and the total travel distance is increased. This means that installing a berm delays the movement of debris flow and reduces the potential mobility of debris flow. The results of this study will provide useful information for understanding the deposition characteristics of debris flow. Furthermore, it is expected to help in the design of a berm.

Improvement of Multilateration using Vector Prediction Algorithm and Kalman Filter (벡터 예측 알고리즘과 칼만 필터를 이용한 다변측량법 개선)

  • Multilateration that consists of three or more fixed nodes has been widely used in the field of indoor real time location system(RTLS). However, when one or two among fixed nodes are partially out of communication reachability due to obstruction and unstable node, it is difficult to obtain an efficient location information. In order to improve the challenges of poor ranging measurements and fluctuations in these environment, this paper presents, based on TOF(Time of Flight), a new algorithm which can reduce the inherent ranging measurements errors in the conventional multilateration using a vector prediction algorithm for the displacement estimation of mobile node and Kalman filter for an efficient distance average. Even if a person moves with mobile node and then it fails ranging measurement from some of fixed nodes, the proposed algorithm using a present and previous measurement value can predict the distance between mobile node and fixed node which fails ranging measurement. The experimental results are shown that the proposed system improves the localization accuracy and efficiency compared with conventional method, respectively.

A Study of the Optical System of a Time-of-flight Laser Distance Sensor for a Long Distance with Minimized Divergence Beam Angle (빔 확산각 최소화를 통한 장거리 측정용 ToF 레이저 거리센서 광학계 설계 연구)

  • In this paper, a study is conducted on the design of an optical system of a time-of-flight (TOF) laser distance sensor that can measure long distances by minimizing beam divergence. When measuring a long distance, the amount of light on the object's surface decreases as the distance increases, due to the diffusion angle of the laser beam, and thus the beam at the sensor also decreases, causing measurement errors. In general, a cylindrical lens is used to reduce the divergence beam angle. However, an optical system using a cylindrical lens has the problem of degraded performance due to the difficulty with assembly tolerance, as well as the problem of the increased size of the optical system, and thus the use of aspherical lenses has been increasing recently. Therefore, in this study, the optical efficiencies and assembly tolerances of optical systems using respectively a cylindrical lens and an aspherical lens are compared and analyzed.

  • This paper proposes a hierarchically structured navigation algorithm for autonomous mobile robot under unknown environment based on fuzzy-neal network. The proposed algorithm consists of two basic layers as follows. The lower layer consists of two parts such as fuzzy algorithm for goal approach and fuzzy-neural algorithm for obstacle avoidance. The upper layer which is basically fuzzy algorithm adjusts the magnitude of the weighting factor depending on the environmental situation. The proposed algorithm provides an efficient method to escape local mimimum points as shown in the simulation result. Most simulation results show that this algorithm is very effective for autonomous mobile robots' traveling in unknown field.

  • This paper proposes an intelligent navigation algorithm for multiple mobile robots under unknown dynamic environment. The proposed algorithm consists of three basic parts as follows. The first part based on the fuzzy rule generates the turning angle and moving distance of the robot for goal approach without obstacles. In the second part, using both fuzzy and neural network, the angle and distance of the robot to avoid collision with dynamic and static obstacles are obtained. The final adjustment of the weighting factor based on fuzzy rule for moving and avoiding distance of the robots is provided in the third stage. The experiments which demonstrate the performance of the proposed intelligent controller is described.

Measurement of 18GHz Radio Propagation Characteristics in Subway Tunnel for Train-Wayside Multimedia Transmission (지하철 터널에서의 18GHz 무선영상신호 전파특성 측정)

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the radio propagation characteristics in subway tunnel at 18GHz frequency band which has been assigned to video transmission between train and wayside. The radio propagation tests are carried out in the subway tunnel of Seoul Metro using the antenna and communication devices of the prototype video transmission system. The measurement results show that 18GHz radio propagation in subway tunnel has smaller path loss than that of general outdoor radio environment. It is also cleared that the arch-type tunnels have smaller radio propagation losses than rectangular tunnels, and single track tunnels have smaller pass loss than double track tunnels. From the measurements, the radio propagation coverage is worked out as 520 meters. The curved tunnels which cannot have LOS communication between transmitter and receiver have large pass losses and fluctuation profile along distance. The radio propagation coverage along curved tunnels is worked out as 300 meters. These investigation results can be used to design the 18GHz radio transmission system for subway tunnel by providing the optimized wayside transmitter locations and handover algorithm customized to the radio propagation characteristics in subway tunnels.

Evaluation for Constructing Isochrones using a GIS (GIS를 이용한 등시간도 작성의 평가)

  • The objective of this study is to suggest new drawing methods of isochrones using GIS. For this purpose the Unit Hydrograph (UH) of studied watershed for instantaneous rainfall suggested by Clark have been determined by routing the time-area curve through a single linear reservoir. To evaluate constructing methods of isochrones three methods has been examined; Channel Profile and Clark-kict method; Laurenson method; Average velocity method of S.C.S. Also, these methods have been recomposed by GIS in this study. To apply first method, spatial modeling, the vector based on the stream network and Route_System measuring a distance between points has been used. A raster based on the flow direction grid from burn DEM and the slope grid from original DEM has been applied for the second method. The third method has been applied by a raster based on the landuse grid and a velocity function expressed by slope. Results by these three methods have been evaluated with observed hydrograph, and the method using average velocity method of S.C.S shows more reasonable results comparatively.
