The contents and results of teaching should be evaluated periodically and intermationally in the age of globalization. The Third Internatinal Geography Competition, held from August 13 to August 19,2000 in Seoul, was a good opportunity to compare the level of achievement in geography among Korean students with that of other countries. Students from 13 countries competed with one another by demonstrating their geographical knowledge via three kinds of test. The aim of this study is to evaluate the international level of high school students in geography education in light of the result of the competiton. Four specific contents ate analysed here: 1)the process and result of the competiton, 2) the analysis of test scores of all students, 3) the international comparison of achievement level of the Korean students, and 4)the evaluation of the examination items and their comparison with those of the first competition. The result of this study will help to evaluate ths competitive achievement of geography education in high school. Although the Korean studenrs scored high marks overall, their were relafively weak in the fieldwork assignment. This shows that instructions in geography are unbalanced.

This paper presented the CanSat competition as one of very small satellite programs for expending the space technology base. The CanSat was compared and characterized with a real satellite and the foreign CanSat competition cases and domestic CanSat development trends were summarized. On the basis of the above information, the organizational structure and function were suggested for domestic CanSat competition and the required technologies, such as satellite, launcher and ground station were described. And also, the prior plan for competition, including mission, education and schedule were suggested.

The Creativity Festival organized by The Korean Society for the Gifted is held Daejeon Metropolitan City contest in 1997 and national contest in 2003 and world Contest in 2005. The purpose of this study is to provide the base data and direction for Creativity Festival in future, by grasping general trends and changes during the last 12 years. The articles were examined in terms of their participant, contest management, question in the examination and end product. The major result of this research are summarized as follows: First, number of participant topped elementary part, followed by middle class part, high grade part, university/general part. Second, contest management is changed partially. Third, the question was mostly taken to evaluate problem solving of student, and instructive, common, times reflect. Finally, elementary student excels middle and high school in both quantity and quality at end product. Also, international student excels internal student in both quantity and quality at end product.

로봇 교육이 관심을 받으며 다양한 형태의 로봇 경진대회가 개최되고 있다. 정규 교육과정과 평가과정이 없는 상황에서 로봇 학습자들은 로봇 경진대회를 통해 자신이 학습한 내용을 평가받게 된다. 본 논문에서는 지난 1년간 개최된 로봇경진대회의 종목들을 분석하여 난이도에 따라 분류하고, 분류한 내용을 바탕으로 로봇경진대회의 문제점과 로봇 교육을 평가하는 방향에 대해 논의하고자 한다.

1970년 5월 14일부터 제9회 전국 도서관대회가 관종별로 4개 지역에서 개최되어 지난 6월 13일 학교 도서관대회를 끝으로 큰 성황리에 대회를 마쳤습니다. 동 대회에 참석한 전국의 도서관인은 도서관이 국가 발전에 있어서 다른 어느 분야보다도 못지않게 중요한 역할을 담당하는 기본적이고 착실한 도구이며, 국가의 정보자원체라는 의견을 재확인하고 오늘 날 조국의 근대화 작업을 수행함에 있어 국가의 기본적인 정보자원체로서의 우리 도서관계가 당면한 문제에 대하여 검토 협의한바 다음의 사항이 해결되어야 하겠다는데 의견을 같이하고 정부관계 요로에 적극적인 조처와 협조가 요망되는 다음의 사항을 건의하오니 적절한 조처가 있으시기를 바라는 바입니다.

우리 나라 수학경시대회의 운영은 선발에 초점이 맞추어져 있어, 지속적인 교육 및 피드백이 결여되어 있고 단순히 경시대회성 기출문제만을 반복하여 출제하고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로 영재의 특성을 고려하고, 영재성을 키워주기 위해서는 무엇보다도 수학 창의적 문제해결력을 신장시켜줄 수 있는 학습 자료의 개발이 시급하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 초등수학경시대회 기출문제와 시중에 출판되어 있는 경시대회 준비를 위한 학습자료를 분석하여, 일선 초등학교 현장에서 실시되고 있는 영재교육을 활성화시킬 수 있는 방안을 연구하는 데 목적이 있다.

2005 전국호두제품경연대회가 지난 7월 14일 서울 밀레니엄 힐튼호텔에서 성황리에 열렸다.(사)대한제과협회가 주최하고 캘리포니아호두협회가 주관하는 전국호두제품경연대회는 치열한 예선을 뚫고 본선에 올라온 빵, 과자, 건과 및 파이 등 3개 부문에서 각 15개씩 45제품이 출품됐다. 올해로 11회째를 맞아 지난해보다 더욱 향상된 기량으로 열띤 경합을 벌인 2005대회현장을 생생하게 전한다.

지난 연말 미국 하와이에서 열린 제3차 태평양연안국가 국제화학대회는 각 분야에서 1백50여개의 심포지엄으로 진행되었다. 이번 대회에 우리나라에서는 60여명이 참석해 논문을 발표했는데 2천년께 열릴 제4차 대회에는 더많은 한국학자들이 참가하게 될 것이다.

봄의 기운이 완연하고 황사마저 잠시 주춤하면 건강을 위해 운동을 시작하려는 사람이 많아진다. 특히 4-5월에는 여기저기에서 걷기대회, 마라톤대회 등 각종 운동관련 대회가 많이 열리고, 가족이나 직원들끼리 산행을 계획하기도 한다. 그런데 평상시 체력관리를 하지 않고 주변에서 각종 대회에 참가한다고 아무런 준비 없이 따라 출전하여 심각한 부상을 입고, 고생하는 이들이 많다.
