본 연구의 목적은 유사한 문화적 배경을 공유한 일본, 한국, 대만의 도서관학 교육을 비교하여 유사점과 상이점을 발견하고 그들의 배경이유를 찾아서 사회와 도서관학 교육의 관계를 밝히는 것이다. 비교의 대상이 된 교육기관은 4년제 대학(교)의 도서관학과로 일본의 다섯 대학교, 한국의 아홉 대학교, 대만의 네 대학교의 도서관학 교육을 비교하였다. 연구가 증명하려고 시도한 가설은, 1. 일본, 한국, 대만은 유사한 문화적 배경을 공유하는 한편, 미국의 도서관학 교육을 받아들였으므로, 세 나라의 도서관학 교육에는 유사점들이 있을 것이다. 2. 상이점들이 있다면, 그것들은 각 국의 특성을 반영할 것이다. 3. 세 나라의 도서관학 교육에 유사점들이 있다면 도서관학 교육의 경향, 문제점들 및 전망도 비슷할 것이다. 가설의 증명을 위하여 교육의 목적, 교수진, 남$\cdot$여학생의 비율, 입학시의 학생들의 학력수준, 교과과정, 과정수료에 요구되는 특수조건, 교과서, 연구, 학과 도서실 및 시설, 학과와 도서관과의 협력관계, 정보학 교과목, 사회가 요구하는 도서관 봉사 및 그에 대응하는 도서관학 교육의 청도, 교육의 경향, 문제점 및 장래 그리고 학과 졸업생들의 도서관 취업률 등을 비교하였다. 비교의 결과 가설을 타당한 것으로 받아들일 수 있었다. 결론에 대한 설명과 아울러 도서관학 교육의 방향을 제언하였다. 1. 미국의 도서관학 교육이 근거로 한 이론적인 배경 및 개념을 재검토하여 적합한 것은 받아들이고, 필요한 경우에는 변형하여 적용하도록 노력해야 한다. 미국과 다른 나라의 실제 도서관 업무 및 봉사에 대한 이해를 토대로 하여 사서와 교육자가 함께 자국의 상황에 적합한 고유한 도서관학을 정립하여야 한다. 2. 도서관 이용 및 봉사에 보다 관심을 기울이고 바람직한 개념을 홍보하고 그것에 호응하는 환경을 만들기 위하여 노력해야 한다. 미래의 사서인 학생들을 이용자에게 접근하여 그들을 가르칠 수 있고 도서관을 이용하도록 유도할 수 있게끔 교육을 시켜야 할 것이다. 3. 미국 이외의 나라에서 실시되는 교육제도에도 관심을 가져야 할 것이다. 4. 도서관 및 도서관학 교육에 정부의 적극적인 지원이 필요하다. 다른 전문직과 같은 대우를 받으려면, 국가고시제도가 도입되어야 할 것이다. 5. 도서관협회가 도서관학 교육에 보다 적극적으로 참여해야 한다. 사서 자격증을 관할하는 단체가 될 수도 있고 교육의 내용에도 관여할 수 있다. 6. 도서관학과와 도서관과의 협력관계가 보다 강화되어야 하며, 도서관현장을 토대로 한 연구활동이 필요하다. 진정한 의미의 문제 해결을 위한 연구활동이 없이 이론적, 실제적인 발전을 기대할 수 없다. 7. 대학(교) 도서관 및 특수도서관의 사서를 위한 전문교육은 대학원 수준에서 제공되고, 학부의 도서관학 교육은 학교도서관 및 공공도서관의 사서를 위한 교육으로 전문화되어야 한다. 8. 도서관학의 교육자들이 모여 문제를 토론하고 해결책을 모색할 수 있는 기회가 제공되어야 하며, 세 나라가 공동의 경험을 나누고 문제를 함께 해결할 수 있는 공식적인 회의나 학회의 구성이 필요하다.

The two urban-area public libraries and two rural ones that are located in the Gyungsangnam-do province were selected for this paper, and the circulation records in 2007 were collected, and both MS-excel and SPSS were used for their analysis. The collected data were categorized into their collection type, circulation frequencies, and subjects. Also the four libraries were compared and analyzed again for the purpose of comparing the characteristics of the public libraries in urban and rural areas. The number of circulated books, lent number, use factor, and the number of publication lapse year were extracted and analyzed using various types of statistical methods such as correlation coefficient and nonparametric chi-square analysis, etc. as well as descriptive ones.

This study measured whether web-based library user education represent web-based instruction theories in education. 9 criteria used were course-related instruction, collaborative learning, evaluation of tutorials, education of information retrieval, contents tables, multimedia interaction between users and librarians, navigational aids, variation of menus. The result showed that both contents and design of web sites were important for good web-based library user education.

본 고는 Betty W.Taylor, Elizabeth B.Mann, Robert J.Munro 이 세사람 공동으로 1988년에 출간된 ‘The Twenty-First Century : Technology's Impact on Academic Research and Law Libraries'이란 책을 읽고 이에 대한 요약을 하고자 한다. 컴퓨터가 출현한지 불과 반세기에 지나지 않지만 그 위력은 심지어 가정에서부터 network를 통한 범세계적인 이용에 이르기 까지 매우 파급적이라 하겠다. 이러한 위력을 가진 컴퓨터는 현재 도서관 시스템에 들어와서도 상당한 영향을 미치고 있으며 미래에도 상당한 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상된다. 이 책은 컴퓨터와 털레커뮤니케이션의 발달에 따라 미래의 도서관이 어떻게 변화 될 것이며, 그에 따른 사서의 임무도 어떻게 변화될 것인지에 대한 우리의 궁금증을 풀어 주리라 기대된다. 원저서의 조사결과에 나타나는 문항의 비율이 0.1~.09% 정도의 오차가 별견되어, 전후비율은 정확히 조사하여 수정을 가하였음을 알려드립니다.

This study implements library toolbar in order to improve the accessibility of OPAC in the library. The toolbar elements are extracted on the basis of the importance of functionality for OPAC. After comparing the toolbar implementation approaches, this study develops the library toolbar with these elements as the client-based application that can fully realized the functionality of the toolbar. The librarians evaluate the usability of toolbar very affirmatively. This study also summarizes the further functionalities to upgrade toolbar proposed by the librarian. Through deploying the upgraded toolbar, the user requirements have to be analyzed and realized with the user survey.

This study Performed five weeks' education on library use as a regular cultural subject at the target on university students and analyzed the difference in their library anxiety between Pre-education and Post-education as well as the difference in educational effectiveness based on the frequency of library use. The result intends to Present the result for basic materials which aye necessary for promoting the education on library use. The object of study selected the university freshmen. located in Gyeonggi-do, taking a lessen of cultural essential subjects. The education contents on library use were the understanding of library organization and function, the structure of library materials, the kind and use of academic information, the citation of materials, the description of bibliography, and the copyright in a library. The study methods applied in the study, were literature researches and two-times' questionnaire surveys in the first week of the education and the last week of that. Total 92 materials were applied for this study. This study performed faired t-test and independent t-test. As a result, four factors of six ones on library anxiety were selected in the verification of hypotheses after performing an education on university students' library use. In addition, the difference in education effectiveness based on university students' library use frequency was excluded in the course of hypothesis verification on six factors or library anxiety.

The concept of the sharing economy, which has shifted the economic paradigm from possession to access to resources, is consistent with the traditional and current roles of public libraries. Thus, this research empirically analyzed the influence relationships between public library use and the sharing economy. Results showed that participation in public library programs serves as a motivational factor for satisfaction with and trust in the sharing economy, while the use of public library facilities and equipment is correlated with attitudes toward and participation in the sharing economy. The use of library collections positively influences sharing intangible resources such as knowledge, information, and personal experience. By contrast, checking out library resources negatively influences the recognition of economic benefits from sharing, which is contrary to claims of library communities. Based on these results, public libraries should aim to have a complementary effect on the sharing economy founded not only on information networks but also human networks grounded in social relationships.

In order to apply the concept of switching costs to the library context, this study aims to identify library users' perceived switching costs, develop and validate a measurement scale for switching costs. A survey involving 210 university students was performed in order to examine the influence of switching costs on the affective commitment and behavioral commitment. Library users' perceived switching costs refer to the procedural and relational costs involved in switching from one library to another. The results of this study show that two types of switching costs as well as library service satisfaction have positive influences on affective commitment, which in turn affects behavioral commitment. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed.

The purpose of this study is to induce a librarian to construct databases lawfully and the user with a copyright and the fair use. Based on information from web sites, the domestic medical libraries(32) were investigated for analyzing how to deal with copyright problems. The results show that only 28% of the medical libraries provide users with information on copyright at their web site. The terminology used was different among libraries. 44.4% of the libraries use 'copyright law' and 33.3% 'copyright' The terminology appeared at the 'notice' menu and 'library guidance' menu. The detail part of copyright contents was shown at 'the data copy and transmission', 'full text DB use', 'thesis and dissertation service', 'FAX/file transfer', 'Image(Ariel)', and 'interlibrary loan'. In general, there was a necessity to the correct understanding of the copyright and fair use.

The purpose of this research is to empirically analyze the effect of public library use on the construction of social and cultural capital and the close of social classes reproduction through the survey targeting public library users. As a result, the use of public libraries positively affects the construction of both social and cultural capital. In contrast, it partially addresses the problems in social classes reproduction because the social classes with higher levels of education and income tend to use public libraries more often. In order to take a role of and contribute to equal construction of social and cultural capital, public libraries need to be public places for open and social interaction. In addition, it is necessary for public libraries to improve their roles to allow community members to access and utilize various cultural resources.
