This study aimed to suggest practical and useful design directions for furniture for the rapidly-increasing university dormitory population. The process of the study took four steps; theoretical research, in-depth interview based on questionnaire, analysis, and development of design directions. Interviews were conducted with 25 university students living in dormitories in Seoul to find out problems with the existing furniture, students' satisfaction with the furniture, and their needs for other options. From these interviews, we found a few problems with dorm units, such as insufficient storage space, spaces too small for privacy, monotonous & standardized furniture design, and lack of multi-purpose furniture, etc. To support college students' complex lifestyles, five design directions were suggested from the analysis, such as a furniture design with highly multiple uses, modular furniture design, sufficient storage space, an application of various colors & materials, and practical use of dead space. Among these, two items were selected to be manufactured by the furniture design company. We expect that our suggested design directions for dorm furniture will support students' complex lifestyles, and satisfy students' needs with highly enhanced and better designed environments.

The range of PFI project has been expanded from Road facilities, Hobor facilities to Education facilities, Military residence facilities since 2005. Especially, The dormitory project that one of the most lucrative facilities among education facilities was progressing but it has many problems with introducing PFI project. This object of research is deriving problems by introducing PFI project and solving problems by consulting with experts. The results of research have had problems that increasing rental fee, difficulty of retrieving the investment and shortage of government supports. The solutions concerning the problems are using organization, introducing various programs and relieving regulation of government. This paper was made by consulting with experts and is expecting to use the basic data when comparing and analyzing the cases used PFI.

The purpose of this study was to improve satisfaction of university dormitory foodservice customers by analyzing the correlation between foodservice satisfaction and customer loyalty. The questionnaire was distributed to 510 students residing in a dormitory of a University located in Gyengsangbuk-do from 1st to 8th December, 2015. The average customer satisfaction score was 3.19/5.00. The category with the highest score was sanitation, followed by environment, food, reactivity, and menu. Male students showed significantly higher foodservice satisfaction score than females in terms of reactivity (P<0.01) category. Students living in the dormitory for over 2 years were significantly less satisfied with the dormitory foodservice in terms of menu (P<0.05) and reactivity (P<0.001) categories. The average customer loyalty score was 2.73/5.00. Scores for revisit intention, words-of-mouth intention, and intent not to switch were 2.80, 2.73, and 2.65, respectively. Revisit intention and words-of-mouth intention showed a significant (P<0.001) positive correlation with food, environment, menu, sanitation, and reactivity. Non-switching intention showed a significant (P<0.001) positive correlation with food, menu, and reactivity. After classifying customers into four groups according to customer satisfaction and loyalty, a comparison was carried out to determine satisfaction and loyalty by each customer stratum. In the "loyalist" group, satisfaction with sanitation and the advertise intention by revisit and words-of-mouth were significantly higher than in the other groups (P<0.001). In "defector" group, satisfaction with menu (P<0.001) and advertise intention by words-of-mouth (P<0.01) were significantly lower than in the other groups.

In order to maintain the existence of a university in the era of infinite competition, it is actively promoting the establishment of a school dormitory, one of the welfare facilities, as a way to attract students who want to enter the university. In the past, university dormitories were built by the university and managed and operated on themselves, but recently, due to the poor financial situation of the university, university dormitories promoted BTL method that private construction company built dormitories and rented them for a certain period of time to manage and operate. J University has dormitories managed and operated by itself and dormitories managed and operated by entrusting the private sector. User satisfaction surveys are conducted on two dormitory facilities with different management and operation organizations, and the contents of the survey are compared and analyzed. This study is expected to be used as basic data when planning a dormitory remodeling project or a new dormitory establishment project in the future.

Dormitories of Korean university are planned to pursue qualitative growth after a period of quantitative growth in the 1970s. However, since the 1990s, the physical plan for qualitative growth has not changed significantly and the effects of these changes on dormitory residents has not been verified. The purpose of this study is to identify the environmental factors influencing dormitory life adaptation and to provide a basis for qualitative growth of university dormitories to help dormitory residents adapt to the environment. The research was conducted in three stages. First, the elements of the residential environment of the dormitory complex, which is an independent variable, were derived. The dormitory life adaptation scale was developed to measure the dependent variable. Secondly, a questionnaire survey was conducted to obtain the environmental factors of current dormitory and previous residence and three elements of dormitory life adaptation; 'acceptance of change', 'familiarity', and 'anxiety'. Third, statistical analysis was conducted to determine whether each factor influenced dormitory life adaptation.

This study focuses on the mediating effects of the interpersonal problems in the relationship between depression and smartphone addiction of college student living in a dormitory. The subject group was consist of students living in a dormitory among the college students in K city. The final 1,016 questionnaires were used as research data. The data analysis used correlation analysis, regression analysis, and Sobel test. The results showed depression, interpersonal problems and smartphone addiction were significantly correlated, and depression had a direct effect on smartphone addiction. In other words, the higher the level of depression, the higher the level of smartphone addiction of college students. Interpersonal problems was partially mediated between depression and smartphone addiction. Therefore, in order to decrease the level of college student's depression and smartphone addiction, it is necessary to develop and implement a program or counseling that can handle interpersonal problems as one of the strategies that can decrease the level of smartphone addiction. Discussed the use of research results and future research.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the idea for IAQ improvement of university dormitory through space analysis and residents' evaluation. The data was collected from 105 Konkuk university dormitory residents by a questionnaire survey. As a result, the idea for IAQ improvement of university dormitory can be suggested. First, it was found that it was necessary to improve size of windows and to exchange bathroom exhaust system for ventilation. Secondly, it is important for resident to ventilate and clean their room. Thirdly, the educational program for dormitory residents about maintenance of IAQ was esssentially needed. Also, it is necessary to manage air conditioning equipment maintenance and bathroom hygiene.
