Based on this study, the research trends were identified for the field of public libraries in Korea by utilizing the keyword network analysis. For 20 years from 2003 to 2022, a total of 752 papers related to the public libraries published in the four largest academic journals in the field of library and information science in Korea were analyzed. The research results are as follows. First, from 2003 to 2022, an annual average of 37.6 papers were published, demonstrating a pattern of repeated rise and fall. Second, the keywords of 'service' and 'culture' were identified as the most discussed keywords as they were found to be among the top five in terms of the frequency of occurrence, connection centrality, and the mediation centrality analysis results. Third, in terms of the results of analyzing the co-occurrence frequency of keyword pairs, attention was paid to the keyword pairs of education-program, service-user, service-children, and service-disability.

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of several reading promotion campaigns for children carried out by public libraries in other countries. "Listen Out! - The Stuttgart Reading Project" in Germany, "Chatterbooks" in the U.K., "Born to Read, Read to Bond" in Singapore and "Grandparents and Books(GAB)" in the U.S.A. are examined. While the first three campaigns started in the 2000s, GAB has been carried out by Los Angeles Public Library since 1989. The characteristics of these campaigns are as follow: First, reading books with adults is emphasized. Second, it is important to get some support and sponsor from organigations and individuals in the community. Third, various media, program and activities related to books are used to promote interests in reading. Fourth, discussion and reading are equally emphasized. Fifth, the geographical boundaries of reading campaigns can be extended in the global community.

1997년 1월 22일을 전후하여 전국의 주요 언론매체들은 정부의 ‘경쟁력 10% 이상 높이기’추진 방안을 일제히 보도하였다. 그에 의하면 정부 기능의 민간위탁 가능분야로 상하수도, 청사건물 경비.관리, 공공차량 운영 등과 함께 도서관경연을 예시하였다. 우리 도서관에서는 이같은 정부의 느닷없는 발표를 보고 놀라움과 함께 비상한 관심을 갖게 되었다. 그러나 정부가 구상하고 있는 이른바 ‘도서관의 민간위탁’에 관하여 정부 구상의 내용은 아직 아무것도 밝혀진 것이 없고, 따라서 도서관을 민간에 위탁한다는 것은 도대체 무엇을 어떻게 한다는 뜻인지, 궁금증과 의구심맞 증폭되고 있는 형편이다. 다만, 일본의 도서관계가 이와 유사한 것을 경험한 것으로 보이는 자료들이 여럿 있다. 이에 '도서관문화‘는 그자료 가운데 하나인 ‘국립도서관의 자료와해설’(도서관문제연구회 위탁문제연구회 편집, 도서관문제연구회 발행 1996)중에서 우선 두 건의 기사를 번역하여 지난 호(제38권 제2호)본란에 게재하였고, 이어서 이 번 호에는 ‘공립도서관의 위탁에 대하여’(일본도서관협력회도서관경영관에 관한 기분문제검토위원회)를 싣는다. (이 기사의 번역 게재는 발행자의 동의를 얻었으며, 번역 작업에는 이번에도 국립중앙도서관 조재순 사서의 협력이 있었다.)

Efforts to establish a joint preservation facility for library materials are being discussed in the regional representative libraries recently, but this is mainly a movement in public libraries. This study aimed to provide a model for a joint preservation facility construction and management especially for the National Universities Library in Busan/Gyeongnam area. For this job, after analyzing the current situation, this study focuses on 1) estimated size of the planned facility calculated by investigating the size and equipment, operation policy, collection quantity and saturation status of participating library archives, 2) strategies for construction, proposed a joint preservation architecture construction management model such as organization and human resources, and standards for transferring materials.

This study investigates user behavior in library spaces through the lens of AI camera analytics. By leveraging the face recognition and tracking capabilities of AI cameras, we accurately identified the gender and age of visitors and meticulously collected video data to track their movements. Our findings revealed that female users slightly outnumbered male users and the dominant age group was individuals in their 30s. User visits peaked between Tuesday to Friday, with the highest footfall recorded between 14:00 and 15:00 pm, while visits decreased over the weekend. Most visitors utilized one or two specific spaces, frequently consulting the information desk for inquiries, checking out/returning items, or using the rest area for relaxation. The library stacks were used approximately twice as much as they were avoided. The most frequented subject areas were Philosophy(100), Religion(200), Social Sciences(300), Science(400), Technology(500), and Literature(800), with Literature(800) and Religion(200) displaying the most intersections with other areas. By categorizing users into five clusters based on space utilization patterns, we discerned varying objectives and subject interests, providing insights for future library service enhancements. Moreover, the study underscores the need to address the associated costs and privacy concerns when considering the broader application of AI camera analytics in library settings.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the trend of reading research in Korea's LIS Fields in the past 20 years, divided into the 2000s and 2010s, by establishing a keyword network. To achieve this purpose, keywords were extracted from 489 related articles in the four major journals in the LIS field sourced from the Korean Journal Citation Index (KCI) and then analyzed using NetMiner4. The results of the study were as follows: First, in the case of the 2000s, 'Public Library', 'Bibliotherapy', 'Reading Education', and 'School Library' showed high values of Frequency Analysis, Degree Centrality, and Betweenness Centrality. In the 2010s, 'Reading Education', 'School Library', 'Children', 'Adolescents', and 'Public Library' showed high values of the aforementioned measures. Second, in the 2000s, the establishment of library infrastructure for reading and reading education, the improvement of policies and systems, and reading research through the reading movement were actively conducted. In the 2010s, based on the work and research done in the 2000s, customized user reading studies and various detailed reading research were conducted. Third, to meet the demands of the times for the restoration of humanity with creativity and imagination in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, reading research and professional in-depth research should be conducted in various environments beyond public and school libraries and interdisciplinary research and active joint research between the field and academia are needed.

The purpose of this study is to make an recommendation for planning of widely representative library building in Jeollabuk-do based on the standards of three library components; facilities. materials and personnel. For research, the methodology of analysis of literature and case study on already established representative libraries was conducted. And the analysis on regional current circumstance to obtain standards of the representative library was conducted. As a results of this study a model of widely representative library building is presented regards on location, facilities and organization.

The purpose of this study is to develop a policy for the use of libraries and the promotion of the reading culture by the characteristics of communities, along with changes in social environment. It, therefore, analyzed the general condition of libraries, infrastructures for libraries and reading culture and the environment including the relevant legal system in Chungcheongnam-do, and examined the actual conditions of inhabitants' (students and general people) use of libraries and reading culture, and librarians. On the basis of the findings, it proposed the policy for the use of 20 libraries and the promotion of the reading culture, by dividing Chungcheongnam-do into six regional settlement areas, discovering policy tasks for the use of libraries and the promotion of the reading culture and collecting suggestions from librarians living in Chungcheongnam-do, to reflect the characteristics of communities in Chungeongnam-do, and therefore, suggest a desirable policy agenda. To pursue the policy proposed, it is necessary to reinforce the role and the status of libraries representing for metropolitan regions and to secure adequate personnel and budgets, in addition to effort made by libraries located at regional settlement areas.

The purpose of this study is to study library marketing research trends in Korea and other countries through the analysis of author keyword network of peer-reviewed journal articles. The author keyword was collected from four major LIS journals in Korea and Scopus academic database for other countries'. The data was analyzed using NetMiner4 software. The results of the study were as follows: 1) In Korea, lots of library marketing studies focused on public libraries. However, there was a range of library marketing researches focused on academic libraries in other countries, 2) In Korea, there was not a variety of subjects of library marketing studies and the studies were mainly led by a few scholars, 3) In other countries, many scholars paid attention to digital library marketing through social media and/or web, and 4) there little library marketing studies focused on school libraries both in Korea and other countries.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the logical and legal basis for the development of new branch libraries of the National Library of Korea(NLK) and then to propose the strategic direction of planning the branch(es) as an appropriate model for the future delivery of NLK services. In this research, it is emphasized that the branch(es) of the NLK should not be perceived as "another large public library, " but rather be planned to help consolidate and expand the basic roles of the NLK and reinforce its identity as a national library. In addition, it is recommended that the branch(es) should be located outside the Seoul Metropolitan area to facilitate the services to the larger public, and some programs and activities for the underprivileged and the multi-cultural families in our society as well.
