(Okumura and Sakae, 1993; Leu and Chou, 1996). In order to investigate a reasonable rearing density and the possibility of high-density rearing, flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, juveniles of 2.53$\pm$0.24 cm in total length and 1.12$\pm$0.12 cm in body height were used in this study. The initial rearing density of them was 10 (D10), 20 (D20), 30 (D30) and 40 (D40) individuals per 137.75 $cm^2$ of bottom area, respectively. Ranges of water temperature and specific gravity during the rearing period of 65 days were $21.0\~27.0^{\circ}C$ and 1.024$\~$1.026, respectively, showing relatively higher values than that of natural sea water. Dissolved oxygen during the rearing period was 5.4$\~$7.5 ml/$\iota$ and inorganic nitrate was 0.07$\~$0.48 ppm in $NH_4^+-N$, 0.006$\~$0.33 ppm in $NO_2^{-}-N$ and 3.89$\~$34.06 ppm in $NO_3^{-}-N$. Growth in total length and body height of the juveniles in four rearing density at the end of the experiment was 8.17$\pm$0.80 em and 4.16$\pm$0.39 em, the highest in D20 and 7.72$\pm$0.40 cm and 3.94$\pm$0.21 cm, the lowest in D10. Significant differences, however, were not recognized between the slope values of growth regressions in four rearing density. Slope values of the relative growth between total length and body height of the juveniles in four rearing density were 0.5346, the highest in D10 and 0.5165, the lowest in D30, but there were no significant differences in those values. Survival rate of juveniles at the end of the experiment was $90\%$ in D10, D20 and D30, but that of D40 was $75\%$. The relationship between total length X body height (X) and body surface area of ocular side (Y) to calculate the rate of Y to bottom area in rearing tank (covering rate) as an indicator of rearing density was expressed by a linear regression, Y=0.5994X+0.1840. Covering rate in four rearing density at the end of the experiment was ranged 1.2$\~$4.1 times. Judging from the covering rate above 4 times, it seems to be possible rearing the flounder juveniles in high-density.

This study was performed to determine the effect of water temperature condition on survival rate and growth of juvenile geoduck (Panopea japonica). Panopea japonica juveniles were bred for 6 weeks at 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 and $27^{\circ}C$ on incubator. Juveniles median lethal times (LT50) were 29 hours in $27^{\circ}C$, 14.5 day in $24^{\circ}C$, 37.4 day in $21^{\circ}C$. Survival rate of water temperature 12, 15 and $18^{\circ}C$ showed a high survival rate in 95.0%, 95.0% and 93.3% at 6 weeks. As a result of culturing for 6 weeks at 12, 15, 18, 21 and $24^{\circ}C$, a daily growth of shell length and total weight was 0.10 mm, 0.12 mm, 0.13 mm, 0.16 mm and 0.14 mm, and 2.21 mg, 2.65 mg, 2.84 mg, 3.13 mg and 2.93 mg. Juvenile shell length and total weight have significantly increased at $15-21^{\circ}C$. However, mortality rate has significantly increased at more than $21^{\circ}C$. As a result, appropriate water temperature for juveniles culturing considered $15-18^{\circ}C$.

This study investigates the effect of denitrified biofloc water on changes in the water quality parameters and the physiological characteristics of shrimps. Biofloc rearing water contains a large number of microorganisms and can rapidly stabilize the water quality and energy saving if reusable due to high water temperatures. Rearing water contain floating bacteria with both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Therefore, when the carbon source is added in limited air supply, the anaerobic state is activated and the denitrification process is possible. In this study, the denitrification water had the following properties: ammonia (6.9 mg L-1), nitrite (0.3 mg L-1), nitrate concentration (9.2 mg L-1), high pH (8.42) and alkalinity (590 mg L-1). The experimental group consisted of seawater (SW, control), a mixture of Seawater and denitrified biofloc water (DNW) in the ratio of 3:1, 1:1 and DNW only. All experiments were done in triplicate. As a result, the survival rate never changed even when 100% of the denitrification water was utilized. However, a body fluid analysis showed that creatine and BUN were increased due to index of stress and the tissue damage resulting from the high denitrified water content. Body fluid ions (Na+, K+, and Cl-) significantly decreased as the denitrified water content increased. It was recommended that the denitrification water be mixed with a certain ratio (less than 50%) in the future as it may affect the osmotic pressure control in shrimps.
Cellulose-digesting bacteria were isolated from hindgut of Allomyrina dichotoma (Coleoptera: Dynastidae). The bacterial isolates were identified as Yersinia sp. and Bacillus sp. The addition of the identified bacteria to diet increased growth rate of the cetoniid beetle, Protaetia brevitarsis senlensis (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae), probably by digesting cellulose nutrient contained in the oak tree sawdust diet. An additive of wheat flour at more than 10% to the sawdust diet significantly enhanced growth of P. brevitarsis senlensis. Trimmed branches of apple trees have been disposed in the apple farms and could be used for a diet component of the cetoniid beetle when the cellulose-digesting bacteria were mixed with the derived-sawdust. Resulting manure from mass rearing of P. brevitarsis senlensis contained high organic matters and trace amounts of toxic metals. When the manure were splayed on soil, it was effective as a natural compost and significantly stimulated lettuce growth. This research suggests a model technology to use cellulose-digesting bacteria to use for culturing grub, which results in natural recycles of trimmed branches in apple farms as grub diet, and to use grub manure as a natural compost.
This study investigated the developmental and ovipositional characteristics of Protaetia brevitarsis individuals that were fed with fermented mulberry sawdust. The developmental periods of larvae were 164.0, 73.3, and 64.8 days at 25, 28, and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. The maximum larval weight was 2.94 g at $25^{\circ}C$, and the weight of larvae decreased as temperature increased. The average weight of female adults were 0.94, 0.51, and 0.54 g at 25, 28, and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. The weight of male adults was higher than that of females. The addition of 10% or 30% wheat bran to the fermented mulberry sawdust increased larval weight. It was possible to sell larvae from 75 days after mass rearing, when the cumulative rate of larvae that were heavier than 2.5 g was approximately 75%. The average number of eggs per female was 83.2 at $25^{\circ}C$, and this was the highest in the 5th week. Most of the eggs (73%) were oviposited between 3 and 8 weeks after adults emergence.
Rabbitfish hatchlings were given a mixed food of rotifers (Brachionus rotundiformis) and trochophore larvae of oyster. Only the oyster-trochophore larvae were found in the gut of 62-h old fish larvae. The fish larvae, fed on rotifer and ciliate alone did not survive. However, their survival increased to 3.3 % on the 10th day after hatching, when trochophore was supplemented. Corresponding with the accelerated growth, the number of rotifers consumed increased from 11 in a 5-day old fish to 165 in a IS-day old fish. In a field ecosystem containing live diatom, Nannochloropsis oculata, rotifers and copepods, fish larvae were shocked and the oyster's trochophore larvae were fed from 2 to 7 days after hatching. A total of 76,000 seedling were produced after 50 days of hatching with 12.7 % survival. Mean total length and body weight were 65.6 mm and 3.4 g, respectively. Growth of body length (BL), body height (BH), body weight (BW) and head length (HL) as a function of the total length (TL) showed regressional relationships as follows; BL=0.8565 TL+0.0852 ($t^2$=0.9996); BH=0.3207 TL - 0.5052 (($t^2$=0.9641) BW=0.0652 TL2.3508 (($t^2$=0.9925); HL=0.2595 TL - 0.1898 (($t^2$=0.9901)
A large volume of hatching jar was tested whether it is an effective to hatch fertilized eggs of Pacific cod. The volume of hatching jar did not show any significant differences in survival of the fertilized eggs; 48.3% for the jar of 15 L and 50.4% for that of 42 L. Survival rate of the fertilized eggs in a large volume of hatching jar ranged from 40.0 to 71.2%, which was higher than those of conventional small circular tank. A higher survival could be achieved even though stocking density of fertilized eggs was as high as 5,000 mL/jar. Consequently, the tested hatching jar allowed for incubation of a greater number of eggs with higher survival rate in a much smaller space. In addition, it reduces costs and manpower, and requires a relatively small amount of water per individual unit (6,700 mL/min), and provides a way to incubate multiple rearing groups in a quarantine environment.
Pathogenicity and multiplication of entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema carpocapsae Weiser, ere analyzed in two insect hosts, Spodoptera exiga (Hubner) and Sp. litura(Fabricius). The estimated ${LC}^{50}s$(lethal concentration of the infective juveniles to kill 50% of the host insect population) were not different between tow insect species or among their developmental stages on the filter paper assay, thought the actual numbers of the infected nematodes were varied among them. The significant variation, however occurred in nematode multiplication between tow inset hosts. Temperature also gave sosignificatn effect on nematode multiplication rate that it took 6 days after infection at $25^{\circ}C$, but did 12 days at $20^{\circ}C$ to show the maximal nematode population peak($\approx$500,000 infective juveniles(IJ) in a 5th instar larva of Sp. litura and $\approx$-100,000 IJ in a 5th instar larva of Sp. exigua).
