  • This study, in the operation of street lamp, suggests appropriate algorithm to extend the number of days of street lamp operation as much as possible if the number of sunless days continues and experimentally determines the value of Weather Factor necessary for this algorithm. This is conducted by reducing electricity consumption and securing battery remains through the use of standby power mode, in which maximum amount of light is maintained if there is a pedestrian, and constant brightness is maintained without utilizing maximum electric power if no pedestrians exist, with the application of WFactor value created by the algorithm considering weather forecast and amount of sunlight.

  • The hybrid vehicle has a good fuel economy with a electric type braking energy regeneration system. This paper introduced a novel pneumatic type braking energy regeneration system. The novel system use a scroll mechanism which have both compression function and expansion function. While vehicle is decelerating, the scroll machinery, being operated as a scroll compressor, compress a atmospheric air to save the vehicle's kinetic energy and reuse a compressed air which is reserved in a air tank while vehicle is accelerating. In order to analyze fuel improvements by applying braking energy regeneration system to a vehicle, we simulated the rate of braking energy regeneration through CVS-75 mode driving patterns.

  • The IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.7 standard are the typical of low rate wireless and Visible Light Wireless personal area networks. Its Medium Access Control protocol can support the QoS traffic flows for real-time application through guaranteed time slots (GTS) in beacon mode. However, how to achieve a best allocation scheme is not solved clearly. The current analytical models of IEEE 802.15.4 MAC reported in the literature have been mainly developed under the assumption of saturated traffic or non-bursty unsaturated traffic conditions. These assumptions don't capture the characteristics of bursty multimedia traffic. In this paper, we propose a new analytical model for GTS allocation with burst Markov modulated ON-OFF arrival traffic.

  • In recent, electronic devices were able to develop and focus for ultra-compact size, intelligence, multifunction and broadband. Their SMPS is realized to ultra-compact size, light weight, high efficiency, high reliability, low noises. The power module which can be used to supply DC output from a commercial power supply (85 to 265 VAC). A switching power supply can be made easily by adding simply external circuit, such as microcontroller, a relay, etc. It would be apply to mostly electronic devices, and fit the global project "Saving energy". But we need to statistical analysis for a quality and performance about a load and an output voltage in product.

  • As the usage of mobile stations increases thanks to various services, power saving mechanisms of mobile station operated by battery power have been gained much attention. This paper presents a power saving mechanism(PSM) of IEEE 802.16m, called Mobile WiMAX, for 4G mobile technology. This paper first presents different points of the PSM of IEEE 802.16m from IEEE 802.16e, which is a basis of IEEE 802.16m. This paper proposes a dynamic sleep cycle adjustment algorithm for improving the performance of IEEE 802.16m PSM by considering the arrival pattern of incoming packets from base station. Performance of the algorithm is analyzed in terms of energy consumption as well as waiting time of packets.

  • The most important design factor for portable devices is power consumption. In this paper, in the early design stage of a mobile device which measures temperature and humidity a power consumption model will be proposed and then the overall power consumption will be estimated based on this model. We will verify previously the correctness of such estimated power consumption before implementation of the real device. That is our proposed design methodology based on power consumption model. An improved design method for efficiently reducing the current consumption in the idle mode is also presented. By implementing a real prototype of the mobile device for measuring temperature and humidity, the correctness of our proposed design methodology based on power consumption modeling will be verified.

  • This paper presents on design factor considered in an altitude test cell facility to determine the best sizing to optimize exhaust diffuser pressure recovery and the exact cooling load required to be supplied under transient operation. Engine simulation was performed to analyse the exhaust gas temperature, exit mass flow rate, specific fuel consumption and exhaust velocity helpful in determining secondary mass air flow and the mixed air temperature entering the ejector. based on this, the amount of cooling load was deduced. It was found that improved pressure recovery reduces operational cost(air supply facility, cooling water).

  • As the interest on the air pollution is gradually rising at home and abroad, automotive and fuel researchers have been studied on the exhaust and greenhouse gas emission reduction from vehicles through a lot of approaches, which consist of new engine design, innovative after-treatment systems, using clean (eco-friendly alternative) fuels and fuel quality improvement. This research has brought forward two main issues : exhaust emissions (regulated and non-regulated emissions, PM particle matter) and greenhouse gases of vehicle. Exhaust emissions and greenhouse gases of automotive had many problem such as the cause of ambient pollution, health effects. In order to reduce these emissions, many countries are regulating new exhaust gas test modes. Worldwide harmonized light-duty vehicle test procedure (WLTP) for emission certification has been developed in WP.29 forum in UNECE since 2007. This test procedure was applied to domestic light duty diesel vehicles at the same time as Europe. The air pollutant emissions from light-duty vehicles are regulated by the weight per distance, which the driving cycles can affect the results. Exhaust emissions of vehicle varies substantially based on climate conditions, and driving habits. Extreme outside temperatures tend to increasing the emissions, because more fuel must be used to heat or cool the cabin. Also, high driving speeds increases the emissions because of the energy required to overcome increased drag. Compared with gradual vehicle acceleration, rapid vehicle acceleration increases the emissions. Additional devices (air-conditioner and heater) and road inclines also increases the emissions. In this study, three light-duty vehicles were tested with WLTP, NEDC, and FTP-75, which are used to regulate the emissions of light-duty vehicles, and how much emissions can be affected by different driving cycles. The emissions gas have not shown statistically meaningful difference. The maximum emission gas have been found in low speed phase of WLTP which is mainly caused by cooled engine conditions. The amount of emission gas in cooled engine condition is much different as test vehicles. It means different technical solution requires in this aspect to cope with WLTP driving cycle.
