The purpose of this study is to find out how college students overseas field trip group's social network exist, how the network change during the travel period, and how they are related to trip satisfaction, school involvement and peer relations. College students have an unprecedented school adaptation problem, which is questioning college education practices and measure should be taken. Since travel provides a strong bond with the group of participants, in a similar vein, students' overseas trips are also assumed to strengthen solidarity of students. For 31 trip participants, survey was administered to find out the existence of a distinctive network structure, its changes, and its impact on related variables. First, the network structure of the field trip existed explicitly, in which student representatives held their position in degree centrality. Second, network structure has changed before and after the trip, which is due to the social interaction between participants. Third, the effect on trip performance variables was marginal, even if some participants move to centrality. Forth, field trip satisfaction, school involvement, and peer relations were significant correlated. At the end of the paper, the implications and limitations of the study were included.

지난 한 해는 서가의 자리가 미어지도록 많은 여행관련 책들이 쏟아져 나왔다. 단순히 책의 수만 많아진 것이 아니라 다양한 갈래의 여행에 관한 기록들이어서 길떠나는 이가 입맛에 맞는 것을 까다롭게 고른다 한들 부족함이 없겠다. 특징적인 현상은 좀더 의미있는 여행을 해보겠다는 이들의 길안내를 자처한 '답사기'들이 붐을 이룬 점이다.

10월 정기 답사 일정으로 아산 외암리 민속마을을 답사하고, 두 번째 일정으로 충남과학교육원을 답사했다. 아주 우연히, 바로 옆 '모나무르 카페 더 그린'이 괜찮은 카페라고 소개받아 추가로 답사를 했는데 건축물의 외관을 보았을 때는 별로 흥미를 느끼지 못했다. 그러나 반전이 있었다. 내부로 진입했을 때 건축물로 둘러싸인 내부에 중정으로 만들어진 워터가든에서는 놀라운 풍경이 그려지고 있었다. 중정에 설치된 워터가든을 에워싼 건축물은 카페, 예식홀 등 복합문화공간으로 구성돼 있어 관람객은 모두 워터가든과 곳곳에 설치된 조각, 예술품을 관람할 수 있으며, 자연 풍경도 같이 즐길 수 있었다. 많은 사람들이 즐기는 풍경을 보니 무척 재미있는 공간이라는 생각이 들었고, 이를 디자인한 건축사의 영감이 그렇게 부러울 수가 없었다. 우리는 주로 어떤 목적지를 선정해 답사를 하지만, 이처럼 예정에도 없었던 건축물과 풍경을 만나게 되면 답사의 즐거움이 배가 되는 기쁜 경험을 하게 되어 다시 다음 답사 일정이 기대된다.

역사적으로 우리나라의 전통건축은 중국건축과 밀접한 관계를 지니고 있다. 그래서 중국이 자본주의 경제체제를 수용하면서 개방되자마자 중국건축에 관심을 가지고 있던 많은 사람들이 중국을 방문하게 되었다. 그리고 여러 사람들에 의해 중국건축에 대한 소개가 이루어졌다. 그러나 중국은 워낙 방대한 영토를 지니고 있고, 아직은 중국을 여행하는데 교통이나 안전 등 많은 문제가 있어서 국내에 소개된 중국건축은 빙산의 일각에 불과하다고 할 수 있다. 필자는 지난해 9월 28일부터 10월 25일까지 산서성을 중심으로 한 중국의 일부를 답사한 바 있다. 이번 답사 지역 중에는 기왕에 국내에 잘 알려진 곳도 있고 그렇지 않은 곳도 있다. 이번 기회에 그 답사내용을 사진과 평면 스케치를 곁들어 소개하고자 한다. 중국건축에 대한 이해와 연구에 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 한다.

Geographical travel(Geotravel) is new theme tourism based on geographical fieldwork. Geotravel is an emotional journey to explore physical and human landscapes, and is also a comprehensive environmental one beyond the scope of historical tourism. Geotravel provides an optimized regional content and programs for experiential tourism of the family. Taking advantage of geographical characteristics as spatial tourism, the geotravel methodology in catchment unit is strongly recommended. The geotravel content has to be developed in convergence standpoint. The integrated key words of geotravel are human and water. Geotravel is a pattern of specialized edutainment tourism for the public and elementary, secondary school students as well. The development of geographical travel courses is necessary for the popularization of geotravel. Mobile apps will be the medium that delivers easy geographical travel information. And geotravel curator has to be raised quickly for the generalized easy and interesting geotravel.

우리들은 초 중등교육을 통해 암석의 종류와 특징, 지질형태와 퇴적구조, 그리고 화석에 대해 지속적으로 교육 받아왔다. 그러나 암석이나 노두를 보고 학교에서 배운 지식을 바르게 적용할 수 있는 학생은 매우 드물다. 또한 아름다운 경관을 보며 지질학적으로 형성과정을 해석할 수 있는 사람도 매우 드물 것이다. 여기서는 지질경관에 대한 정보를 어떻게 제공하고 있는가에 대한 연구 성과를 정리해보고 문제점을 도출하고자 한다. 현재까지 지질경관을 알려주는 연구 성과를 크게 나누면 3종류가 있다. 첫째, 지질학습장의 개발 및 활용에 관한 연구이다. 이 부류의 수집된 자료는 학위논문(29편)과 전문학술지(27편)로 현재 56편이나 검색에 따라 더 늘어날 것이다. 이들은 야외 노두에 대한 효과적인 지질학습을 위한 자료개발을 위주로 하고 있다. 이러한 내용들은 전문가 양성에는 대단히 좋은 프로그램이지만 청소년이나 일반대중들에게 너무 어려운 내용으로 구성되어 있다. 또한 교육청에서 주관하는 탐방계획으로 "경기도 지구과학교사 연구회"가 있는데, 주로 경기도 한탄강유역을 대상으로 하고 있다. 이 연구회 자료에서는 지역의 특성을 살린 야외지질학습장을 개발하고 현장에 적용하기 위한 노력을 볼 수가 있다. 두 번째로 과학전람회 자료로서 현장교사와 학생들의 야외학습에 대한 인식이 잘 나타나 있다. 수집된 자료는 총 55편으로 야외지질조사를 통해 관찰 자체에 중점을 두었는데, 최근에는 노두관찰에 덧붙여 탐구학습 태도와 창의성을 함양하는 쪽으로 옮겨가고 있다. 세 번째 자료는 일반대중을 위한 서적이다. 이 서적들은 저자들의 전공에 따라 그 내용이 다소 다르다. 즉 일반여행안내 책자는 노두나 암석은 소개하고 있으나 지질학적 설명이 전혀없으며(예, 남도해안 2000리), 지리학자들의 저술에는 지형의 형성을 지질학적으로 설명하려 애쓴 흔적이 보인다(예, 한국지리이야기). 다음으로 지구과학들의 저술은 전형적인 지질답사 안내서에 가까워 내용 자체는 좋으나 흥미가 다소 떨어진다(예, 가족이 함께 떠나는 지질여행, 제주도 지질여행). 지질학과 흥미를 적절히 혼합한 책으로 '우리 땅 과학 답사기'정도가 있다. 최근 한국암석학회에서는 "우리의 명산"을 지질과 경관의 관점에서 해석하려는 심포지엄을 2차례 가졌다. 그러나 그 내용면에서는 경관지질이라는 개념을 정립했다고 보기에는 다소 미흡 하나, 황상구 교수의 주왕산에 관한 내용은 앞으로 경관지질 연구에 대한 발전의 여지를 보여주었다. 앞으로 지질경관에 대하여 지질학적 야외답사나 과학지식 습득에 국한시키지 말고, 그 지역의 특성을 살린 관광 또는 민속과 연계하여 지구과학적 학습효과와 더불어 인성교육에 도움이 되는 학습 콘텐츠를 개발하도록 노력해야 할 것이다. 일반 대중이 우리나라의 빼어난 지질 경관을 손쉽게 이해하고 즐기게 되면, 세계자연유산이나 세계지질공원을 지정 받는 과정도 더 쉬워질 것이다.

Since the emerging period in !be Greek era, geography bas been defined as an empirical science in which travel and field trip bas been regarded as its major method for acquiring geographical knowledge or discovering geographical facts on the earth surface. In the contemporary geography, however, this kind of empiricism has been reduced to logical positivism which pursues rigid geographical laws, while diverse implications for empiricism (especially, that implied in the mythic imagination) have been ignored. On the other hand, recently a lot of books on trip for exploring regional cultural environments from the local to the global level have been poured out from outside of geography, and place-marketing has gained some attraction as a new method or strategy for regional development This paper is to consider diverse methodological implications of experience through geographical exploration especially hath from the standpoint of empirical geography and of humanistic geography, and the look on methodologically importance and limitations of place-marketing for regional development In conclusions, it is emphasized that those methodologies should be put together for a genuine exploration of regional cultural environment, and that place-marketing should be understood as a movement for rediscovering regional identity.
