The quality, quantity, color, and characteristics were found out cultured seawater pearls and freshwater pearls. In the XRF measurement Ca chemical combinations were the main elements and Sr was detected at higher levels for the sea-water pearl and Si, S, Ca, Mn, P and other elements were found at higher levels for the fresh-water pearls. Such differences is judged to be caused by the ion diluted in sea and fresh water which affects the pearl elements. Although near similar structural peak was shown for the FT-IR measurement, the fresh-water pearl showed a lower peak for the 2344 wave. For the results of PL, the peak for fresh-water measured with Hd-Cd Laser at 455 nm was higher and with the Ar-ion Laser measurements, peaks were high at 545 nm and 570 nm for fresh-water pearl and sea-water pearls respectively.
With Jewelry industry is becoming active with gradual increase of transactions of pearl and diamond. The pearl market of recent times the size of that market was magnified because the pearls of various type are imported. The necessity of new design development and grasps properties of pearl is demanded clearly because like that. This research analyzed the cultivated brown pearl and black pearl which is sold from market with gemological Analysis. As result, it is ascertained the dyed fresh water pearl. I suggest the design which uses the chocolate brown color pearl beads which the consumers prefer and another pearl design which is concept of wedding gift through CAD/CAM works.
Analyses of UV-Vis spectrum and reflectance are useful tools to identify pearls of which color was naturally made or chemically changed. Contents of some trace elements of pearls by using ED-XRF may give us the information that the pearls were originated from marine shells or freshwater shells, and may give us whether the pearls were chemically treated or not. Three types of chemically untreated pearls, freshwater cultured, Akoya cultured and Tahitian cultured, were treated with silver nitrate. UV-Vis absorbance spectrum of Ag was changed after treatment, and reflectance of pearls was decreased. Absorbance of natural black colored Tahitian cultured pearls at 400, 500 and 700 nm was observed. Natural black colored freshwater cultured pearls showed two characteristic absorption patterns in UV-Vis spectra at 380-400, 480-500 nm. Unlike naturally black colored Tahitian cultured pearls, the absorption spectrum at 700 nm could not be found from black freshwater cultured pearls. Manganese was not detected in the pearls from marine shells, and strontium content of the pearls from marine cultured shells was higher than that from freshwater cultured shells. According to ED-XRF analysis, Ag contents of silver nitrate treated pearls increased as more time passed, because silver ion invaded to nacre layer of the pearls. Since Ag content of the black pearls known as untreated ranged under 0.1%, analysis of Ag content may used to distinguish the black pearls are treated or not in marketplace.
In this study, we conducted heat-treatment on freshwater cultured pearls at various conditions in other to improve their color. Also, after heat treatment, we used the UV-Vis, ED-XRF and SEM to investigate changes freshwater cultured pearls' color, composition and internal structure. UV-Vis analysis showed the reflectivity of samples increased at most heat-treatment conditions although the reflectivity decreased at a certain temperature and duration. At $100^{\circ}c$/8 h, $120^{\circ}c$/6 h and $140^{\circ}c$/4 h, the reflectivity increased highest. In proportion to reflectivity increase, freshwater cultured pearls' color was improved. Ca, Mn, Sr and other micro elements were found from ED-XRF analysis. However, changes in composition of elements were not detected. It was found that the content of Mn in freshwater cultured pearl is higher than other micro elements. From SEM analysis, aragonite's shape was shown in narce and some of the narce were condensed after heat treatment.

This study simulate three-dimensional ocean circulation patterns using the EFDC model in the Kwangyang Bay and Jinju Bay, considering tide, water temperature and salinity. The numerical model results were verified using observed data. The model results well reproduced the observed data. As a result, ocean circulation patterns in the study area show convergence and divergence in the middle area of Noryang waterway and Daebang waterway, the residual flow patterns show typical two-layer circulation. According to the change of the density stratification in the Kwangyang Bay and Jinju Bay, the effect of fresh water is dominant in study area. In the case of Jinju Bay, although it is strongly influenced by the Namgang fresh water, also it is affected by Seomjin River when there is no discharge by Namgang Dam. On the other hand, the stratification of the Kwangyang Bay is relatively enhanced by the discharge of Namgang Dam.
The effect of ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation on the color of nucleus and cultured pearls was investigated. After ($^{60}Co$) ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation on the pearl nucleus, its color was altered from brownish to blackish brown or gray depending on irradiation dose. It was clearly found that the all samples are composed of aragonite. ESR spectra were based on the measurement of the paramagnetic species $CO_2$-radicals by the interaction with the ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation in $Mn^{2+}$ containing $CaCO_3$. In this study, we investigated optimal detection method of ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation to establish destructive or non-destructive test for pearl nucleus.

In this study, a numerical particle tracking experiment was conducted to assess the distribution characteristics of freshwater exclusion resulting from the discharge of Gahwa Stream into Sacheon, Jinju, and Gangjin bays, located downstream of the Namgang Dam. The number of particles discharged into Noryang Channel, Daebang Channel, and Changseon Strait was compared by releasing 1000 particles through Gahwa Stream under three discharge conditions: no discharge, discharge during rainfall, and discharge during flood. Evidently, the percentage of particles in the Noryang Channel increased, whereas that in the Daebang Channel decreased as the discharge from the Gahwa Stream increased. Approximately 95% of the material located downstream of the Gahwa Stream generally escaped through the Daebang Channel. However, as the discharge from the Namgang Dam increased due to rainfall, the percentage of particles in the Noryang Channel increased, reaching 45.5% during floods.
About 450 specimens of Lockeia were discovered from the lacustrine siltstone of the Early Cretaceous Jinju Formation of Jin Island, southern coast of Korea. They are very elongated, seed-shaped Lockeia characterized by a large size, mostly 60-70 mm long and 15-20 mm wide. They are characteristically sharp longitudinal furrow bounded by steeply inclined both margins, elevated marginal rims and sharp pointed both longitudinal furrow ends. This trace fossil is herein described as Lockeia gigantus ichnosp. nov. Plicatounio, a freshwater bivalve which does not occur occurs occasionally within Lockeia gigantus is regarded as the most-likely producer of this resting trace fossil. This new trace fossil represents the largest Lockeia ever known and the first record of Lockeia from the Cretaceous non-marine deposits in the world. This fossil also represents an unusual example of resting trace fossil (Lockeia) associated with a possible producer (bivalve Plicatounio) lived in community in the shallow lacustrine environment.
After the heavy precipitation from April 1969 to September 1970, more than 1.359 10$\^$6/㎥ of fresh water was discharged through diversion channel of the Namgang Dam. The sands and muds in the northern Sachon Bay were moved and swept away by the strong southsard flow which was observed to be speedier than five knots. The shellfish culture facility as well as the oysters and bivalves were buried. In Sachon Bay, a southward surface ebb current of approximately one knot stratifies above the northward flow of approximately 0.5 knot, which seems to be similar to the salt wedge estuary. The stratified current is responsible for the breaking of the gill nets and other fishing gears. The salinity of sea water in Chinju Bay decreased remarkably and the abnormal low salinity water lower than 5 was distributed in Sachon Bay. The low salinity water front was observed in eastern Chinju Bay and the Samchonpo Channel, where the salinity was increased from 4.6 to approximately 30 within half a tidal cycle. These caused the oysters and bivalves die, and drove anchovies and octopus out to the sea and prevented them from approaching the bay. The decrease of salinity causes the decrease of density and osmotic pressure of sea water. Turbid water would prevent the sunlight from penetrate into deep layer.
