Purpose This study is to find the characteristics of voice quality based on the classifying the sound characteristics and B.M.I. by Sasang Constitution. Methods To make the notion of the consensus of Sasang Constitution's Voice, classification into 4 categories was made: clear/hoarse, high/low, powerful/powerless, fast/slow. Result The voice quality of Soyangin group was classified as powerful and fast, and that of Taeumin group was classified as powerful and hoarse and low, and that of Soeumin group was classified as powerless and clear. The mean B.M.I. of Soeumin group was classified as 21.4, and that of Taeumin group was classified as 26.3. Conclusion 1. Taeumin was significantly high compared with Soeumin in B.M.I. 2. It can be classified as Taeumin when B.M.I. is high(26.3). 3. It can be classified as Soeumin when B.M.I. is low(21.4). 4. The voice quality of Soyangin group was classified as clear and fast, or strong and clear, and that of Taeumin group as powerful and hoarse, and that of Soeumin group as powerless and low.

1. Objectives The main ingredient of ephedra is ephedrine which affects on autonomic nervous system induce some adverse effects just like vasoconstriction, hypertension, tachycardia, miosis, insomnia, dizziness, headache, and etc. and heart disease. If we use Mahuang according to the Sasang constitution classification in clinic, we could not only may minimize the anxiety but maximize the potential curative value in Asthma Treatment. 2. Methods On a day three times in Mahangjungchentang taken patients who with Ventricular septal defect in the aftermath of the RBBB. We are observed that the main symptoms of change, vital sign, sleep, stool, urine, heart disease. 3. Results Teaumin with asthma, the effect of Mahuang, and the side effects are fewer. The individual effects of herbs are important. but Sasang constitutional effects are important too. 4 Conclusions Mahuang can increase heart disease. But there was a difference among Sasang constitution classification. This has no side effects from Teaumin than other constitutions. If we use Mahuang according to the Sasang constitution classification in clinic. We have an excellent effect on the treatment of asthma.

1. Objectives We introduced a case of postoperation stomach cancer patient with metastasis to peritoneum and colon who suffered from repetitive diarrhea and abdominal pain. 2. Methods Stomach cancet is the most common cancer in Korea. Eventhough the 5-year survival rate of stomach cancer is increasing recently, metastasized stomach cancer does not show good prognosis, especially when the surgical operation is not applicable. After partial resection of stomach, most of patients experienced gastrointestinal disorders like dyspepsia, reduced meal size, abdominal discomfort, loose stool, and constipation. 3. Results and Conclusions Taeumjowi-tang, a Sasang Constitutional Medicine, improved the diarrhea and abdominal pain.

1. Objectives This paper reports a case of cervical cancer patient who showed positive results to Sasang Constitutional Medicine. The target symptoms were urinary disorder due to unilateral hydronephrosis and urticaria due to adverse drug reactions. 2. Methods We measured urinary output and interval. We evaluated skin urticaria by severity and size of itchy site. The patient treated using Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 3. Results and Conclusions Significant improvement was observed in urinary output and interval.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurses' behaviors while soothing newborns with bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Methods: An observational study was used to assess nurses' soothing behaviors. Data were collected from September, 2012 to March, 2013 using an audio-video recording system. Participants were eight babies and 12 nurses caring for those babies. After obtaining parental permission, the overall process of each episode from nurses' engagement in soothing to the end of soothing was recorded. Then a researcher interviewed each participating nurse. Data from 18 episodes were transcribed as verbal and nonverbal nursing behaviors and then categorized by two researchers. Results: There were 177 observed soothing behaviors which were classified with the five sensory-based categories (tactile, oral, visual, auditory, vestibular). Most frequently observed soothing behavior was 'Gently talking' followed by 'Removing irritant', and 'Providing non-nutritive sucking'. Nurses' perceived soothing behaviors were similar to the observed soothing behaviors except for 'Gently talking'. Conclusion: Nurses used diverse and mixed soothing behaviors as well as recognizing those behaviors as essential nursing skills. Nurses' soothing behaviors identified in this study can be used to comfort babies and to enhance their developmental potential in accordance with individual characterstics or cues.

1. Objective This study was conducted to research a corelation between the Sasang constitutions and primary cancer organs in cancer patient with their thermography. 2. Method We Analyzed the thermography taken from cancer patients and compared it with their cancer origins and Sasang constitution. 3. Result It was found that there are some relationships between the cancer origins and abnormal skin temperature. Also according to the Sasang constitutions of each cancer patient, the lesion of abnormal skin temperature could be differentiated. 4. Conclusion Thermogram can be affected by both the constitution and the primary cancer organs of the patient. To utilize the thermography as a diagnostic or prognostic method of cancer, further studies are needed.

Objectives: There are many unknowns surrounding Jeong-Jo's death. To better understand Jeong-Jo's death, we closely inspected his medical records from the 20 days before his death in The Annals of the Chosun Dynasty (朝鮮王朝實錄) and Seungjeongwon Ilgi (承政院日記), Understanding medical treatment before death, we can correctly trace the cause of Jeong-Jo's death. Methods: According to The Annals of the Chosun Dynasty (朝鮮王朝實錄) and Seungjeongwon Ilgi (承政院日記), we examined his medical records between June 14 and June 28 of 1800, as to the change in chief complaint, cold and heat, thirst, syndrome differentiation, the opinions of Jeong-Jo, and the opinions of doctors, The original work, The Annals of the Chosun Dynasty and Seungjeongwon Ilgi were provided by NIKH (The National Institute of Korean History). The Korean translation of The Annals of the Chosun Dynasty was also provided by NIKH. Seungjeongwon Ilgi (original work written in Chinese characters) was directly translated into Korean by the study author. Results: 1. Jeong-Jo's is likely to have died of septicemia caused by an abscess on his back. 2. The cause of Jeong-Jo's death could be stroke due to hypertension, mental stress, and 'Wha (火) disease' Conclusions: The dominant view that Jeong-Jo was murdered by poison is not likely.

Objective: This study examined the distribution of married couples' Sasang constitutions. Method: This study was researched clinically using medical records of 206 married couples who visited the Kyung Hee University East-West neo medical center in Seoul between May of 2006 and June of 2008. Results: 1. When a man is So-yangin, his wife's Sasang constitutional type is So-yangin 7.7%, Tae-eumin 53.8%, So-eumin 38.5%. A Tae-eumin wife is significantly more common than the other two groups. 2. When a man is Tae-eumin, his wife's Sasang constitutional type is Tae-yangin 0.9%, So-yangin 53.9%, Tae-eumin 8.7%, So-eumin 36.5%. Proportion of So-yangin wife is significantly higher than the other three groups. 3. When a man is So-eumin, his wife's Sasang constitutional type is So-yangin 61.5%, Tae-eumin 29.2%, So-eumin 9.2%. A So-yangin wife is found at a significantly higher rate than the other two groups. Conclusion: A So-yangin man is most likely to marry a Tae-eumin woman. A Tae-eumin man is most likely to marry a So-yangin woman. A So-eumin man is most likely to marry a So-yangin woman.

One form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), oriental medicine has developed differently from the western medicine under its own environment and history. Western medicine was introduced to Korea about 120 years ago. But unfortunately, there still is an indisputable lack of cooperative movement between oriental medicine ＆ western medicine. However, the market share of CAM has grown markedly in most industrialized countries (the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia). In these countries, alternative medicine such as acupuncture and herbal remedies was adopted as a "complementary" therapies of mainstream medicine, to calm the symptoms of terminal illness. Recently in Korea, there was a movement to cooperate oriental medicine ＆ western medicine. However, until this time in Korea, there was a conflict between oriental medicine ＆ western medicine. They blame each other. Such as "Other side is guilty of improper evaluation of patients, possibly suppressing effective therapies of their own side and profit-motivated". Though most western medicine practitioners criticize oriental medicine, the level of adopting alternative forms of health care by the public and by some western medicine practitioners will continue to increase. Therefore oriental medicine ＆ western medicine share a mutual responsibility to apply evidence-based practices, to seek scientific empirical proof through planned interventions, and to increase the quality of health care.lity of health care.

The purpose of this paper was to investigated to the relationship between longevity and Sasang Constitution. The investigation of this paper is composed of 4 parts. First part is investigated to the distribution of sex constitution and constitutional form. Second part is the distribution of the special of body quality(blood pressure, Pulse, Respiration, heredity, stool frequency) and the disease. Third part is the relation of the longevity reason(diet, alcohol intake, smoking). Fourth part is the relationship between the QSCC II and longevity reason. The results were as follows : 1. In case of a macrobian, Soyangin is much more in constitution. 2. A macrobian is generally short and thin. 3. About the macrobian's strength of heredity, there is no any meaningful conclusion, but more studying relationship between heredity and longevity is needed. 4. A macrobian has normal condition in blood pressure, pulse and feces condition. 5. In case of macrobian, the portion of a light eater, non-smoker, and abstainer is high, they like warm food. 6. A macrobian who is active and diligent has high accomplishment and good sociality. Considering above conclusion, a macrobian is related to Soyangin in characteristic of constitution. In the future, more studying is needed whether the macrobian has kept their lives with their unique preservation of health or not.
