선형계획 프로그램의 개발에 있어서 속도의 제고와 수치적안정을 고려한 방법에 대한 접근들이 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 단체법 수행 이전에 입력자료의 사전처리를 통해 속도 및 수치적 안정을 도모하고자 하는 방법과 이에 대한 전산실험 결과를 제시하고자 한다. 입력자료의 사전처리는 첫째, 수치적 안정을 향상시키는 입력자료의 Scaling에 대한 내용과 둘째, 문제의 크기를 줄이거나 단체법에서 다루기 쉬운 형태로 변형하여 속도를 제고하고 수치적 안정을 도모하는 입력자료의 재구조화에 대한 내용으로 구성된다. 본 연구에서 다루는 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, Scaling 부분에서는 여러 가지 Scaling 방법과 이에 대한 비교를 전산실험결과로 제시한다. 둘째, 입력자료의 재구조화 방법과 이에 대한 실험적 결과를 제시한다. 본 연구결과 기대효과로는 선형계획 프로그램의 개발에 있어서의 Scaling 방법과 재구조화 방법들의 선택기준으로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

The distribution network is an essential part of all water supply systems. The cost of this portion of any sizable water supply system may amount to most of the entire cost of the project. This study tried to reduce the cost of the distribution system through optimization in system design. To determine pipe diameter considered in water distribution system design, a iterative procedure linked the flow analysis model and optimization model was used. Linear theory was introduced to analyze flowrate and revised-simplex method based on linear programming is used to optimize pipe diameter. This model was applied to wter distribution system with 22 and 35 pipes, and rapidly determine optimized commercial pipe diameters.
