단전호흡운동이 양주시 보건소 이용주민의 체력, 혈액지질, 신체증상에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Danjeon Breathing Exercise Program on Physical Fitness, Levels of Serum Lipid and Physical Symptom of People Using Public Health Center at Yangju City)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of the Danjeon Breathing Exercise Program on physical fitness, levels of serum lipid and physical symptom of people using public health center at Yangju city. Method: One group pretest-posttest design was utilized for this study. This study has been done from July 6 to September 28, 2005 and the subjects of the study were 28 persons. Danjeon breathing exercise was carried out for 60 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. Physical fitness was measured using the Health Management System developed by the Korea Physical Science Institution. Serum lipid level was measured in public health center at Yangju city. Questions of physical symptom (35 items) were chosen from Cornell Medical Index. The collected data were processed by using the SPSS PC program and analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Result: 1. The scores of back strength, flexibility and balance of post-test were more increased after Danjeon breathing exercise than those of pre-test. But the score of muscular endurance of post-test was not significantly increased. 2. The degrees of total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride of post-test were more decreased after Danjeon breathing exercise than those of pre-test. But the degree of HDL-cholesterol of post-test was not significantly increased in statistics. 3. The score of physical symptoms of post-test was not significantly decreased in statistics after Danjeon breathing exercise than that of pre-test. Conclusion: It is concluded that the Danjeon Breathing Exercise Program could increase the physical fitness and decrease levels of serum lipid. So Danjeon breathing exercise could be utilized to promote physical fittness and to decrease level of serun lipids.

효율적인 액션연기를 위한 '무예武藝연기술시스템' 의 논의 (The Paper on The Martialarts Acting System for Action Acting Technic)

  • 본 연구에서 논의하는 '무예武藝연기술시스템'은 전통무예 원리를 바탕으로 무예연기술시스템의 체계화를 시도하였다. 무예연기술을 필요로 하는 배우들이 액션연기에 대한 두려움없이 무예연기를 수행할 수 있는 효율적인 무예훈련 방법론을 제시한 '무예武藝연기술시스템'의 내용은 온몸때리기와 복식호흡 수련으로 강화된 단전의 내공을 바탕으로 낙법, 태권도, 택견, 한검, 장봉술 등 외공을 강화시키는 기초 무예수련을 소개하였다. 배우의 몸놀림을 춤처럼 부드러우면서도 격한 운동처럼 강하게 발산할 수 있도록 도와 주는 '무예武藝연기술시스템'은 전통 무예의 정수를 도입하였다. 또한 현 한국 무예연기의 문제점을 해결하기 위한 실천적인 방법론을 구체적으로 서술하고 효율적인 액션연기를 위한 대안을 제시하였다. 정통적인 현대연기술의 연기메소드와 '할리우드 신체기술'(영화연기메소드)의 차이성을 언급하였다. 무예연기술과 카메라 워킹과 연계한 신체연기의 테크닉에 대해 논의하면서 관객의 존재를 강조하는 메이어홀드의 양식주의 연기 개념을 적용한 '할리우드 신체기술'을 무예연기술론으로 응용하였다. 결론적으로 무예연기는 진실한 감정을 내세우는 영화연기술의 고유성인 '아메리카 메소드 액팅'의 일반 연기의 개념과 달리 안정된 폼을 잡는 자세를 중요시 한다. 본 연구는 배우들의 심리적, 신체적 안전성의 도모와 무예연기를 일반연기와 다른 관점에서 훈련함을 목표로 무예연기술시스템을 소개한다.

단전호흡운동 프로그램이 노인의 폐활량, 체력, 불안 및 우울에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Danjeon Breathing Exercise on Vital Capacity, Physical Fitness, Anxiety and Depression among Older Adults)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Danjeon Breathing Exercise (DBE) on vital capacity, physical fitness, anxiety and depression among older adults. Methods: This study employed the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group participated in a 12-week DBE program. Vital capacity and physical fitness were measured with a health measurement system (HELMAS). Anxiety and depression were measured with SCL-90-R-K. Data were collected from 37 community-dwelling older adults (experimental group=21, control group=16) in the Seoul metropolitan area. The data were analyzed by $x^2$-test, Mann-Whitney test and ANCOVA. Results: The experimental group taking DBE reported significant increases in flexibility than the control group, but differences in vital capacity and balance were not significant. Older adults taking DBE showed significant decreases in the anxiety and depression levels. Conclusion: A DBE program may be a useful nursing intervention for older adults to improve their flexibility and to reduce anxiety and depression.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research was to compare the effects of Danjeon Breathing exercise and walking exercise on blood lipids, physical symptoms and hemoglobin of middle-aged women to determine which of these two exercises was more beneficial. Methods: The Danjeon breathing exercise group(20) took health management counseling and performed an eighty-minute Danjeon breathing exercise three times a week for 12 weeks while the walking exercise group(25) took health management counseling and performed a walking exercise seven hours per week for 12 weeks. The control group(20) received only health management counseling. The groups were homogeneous on age, religion, marital status, education, profession, monthly income per household, menopause, smoking, drinking, fat intake and cholesterol intake. Likewise, the groups were homogeneous on total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol,atherogenic index, hemoglobin and physical symptoms. The collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS PC program and $x^2$-test, ANOVA, repeated measures of ANOVA and LSD. Results: 1. Total cholesterol of the Danjeon breathing exercise group and the walking exercise group were lower than that of the control group. 2. HDL- cholesterol of the Danjeon breathing exercise group and the walking exercise group were not higher than that of the control group. 3. Atherogenic index of the Danjeon breathing exercise group was lower than that of the control group, but atherogenic index of the walking exercise group was not lower than that of the control group. 4. Hemoglobin of the Danjeon breathing exercise group and the walking exercise group were not higher than that of the control group. 5. Physical symptom score of the Danjeon breathing exercise group was lower than those of the walking exercise group and the control group, but Physical symptom score of the walking exercise group was not lower than that of the control group. Conclusion: Danjeon breathing exercise and walking exercise are effective for decreasing total cholesterol of middle-aged women. Danjeon breathing exercise is more effective for decreasing atherogenic index and physical symptoms of middle-aged women than walking exercise.

There were significant differences on back strength, flexibility, agility and power among Danjeon breathing exercise group, walking exercise group and control group. The degree of back strength, flexibility and power of the Danjeon breathing exercise group was higher than that of the walking exercise group and the control group. The degree of agility of the walking exercise group was lower than that of the control group. 2. There were no significant differences on $VO_2max$ and balance among Danjeon breathing exercise group, walking exercise group and control group. In conclusion, Danjeon breathing exercise improves back strength, flexibility and power than walking exercise and walking exercise improves agility than Danjeon breathing exercise.

단전호흡을 하는 중년여성의 기운 기르기 과정 (Process of Cultivating Energy in Middle Aged Women Practicing Dan Jeon Breathing)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the process of cultivating energy in middle-aged women doing Dan Jeon Breathing and to develop a grounded theory of Dan Jeon Breathing. Method: Data was collected by means of an in-depth interview using tape- recordings from 15 participants who practice Dan Jeon Breathing. The data was analyzed using the grounded theory method proposed by Strauss and Corbin(1998). Results: The core category was identified as "cultivating energy of the mind and the body together". The process of this could be further divided into 4 stages: the stages are cessation of an 'energetic life', 'depending on Dan Jeon Breathing', 'going through a difficult practice process' and 'getting used to Dan Jeon Breathing'. The participants began Dan Jeon Breathing because they were unable to retain their energetic lifestyle. They were dependent on Dan Jeon Breathing for recovery of health. Also, they were going through a difficult process. Finally, they entirely approved of Dan Jeon Breathing as a method of health promotion. Conclusion: This study provided the understanding needed for the training process of Dan Jeon Breathing. Therefore, women can pursue Dan Jeon Breathing for their health.

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of Dan Jeon Breathing on physical health promotion in middle aged women. Method: This study was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. The subjects were classified into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group had 21 middle-aged women who did Dan Jeon Breathing, the control group consisted of 22 middle aged women. Dan Jeon Breathing was carried out for 40 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 6 weeks. The difference between the experimental group and control group was verified with an $x^2$-test, t-test and paired and unpaired t-test. Results: The score of physical symptoms for the experimental group was lower than that of the control group. The score of physical strength for the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: Dan Jeon Breathing can be a physical health promotion for middle aged women. In terms of nursing practice, Dan Jeon Breathing can be utilized as a nursing intervention for physical well-being of middle aged women.

여성들의 찜질방 이용 현상에 관한 일상 생활 기술적 연구

  • The ZZimzilbang is a room where many women eagerly go due to the special meaning women give to it related to their health. It is a different type of sauna room which maintains low degree of temperature, consisting of an Ondol room(Korean under-floor heating system, hypocaust) built with mineral stone radiating ultrared rays. Even though many women mention that they utilize it for health, there is no precise evidence of the effects on their health. This ethnographic study sought to define the phenomenon from the perspective of the women who experienced the ZZimzilbang. A convenience sample of 27 women was interviewed during a 15 month period from December 1995 to July 1997 in 12 ZZimzilbangs located in Seoul, Korea. The mean ages of the women 57.3 years ; seventeen women were housekeeper and only eight women had job : twenty women were married and three women among them were widows. The main reasons women patronize the place are : for mitigation and healing of physical signs and symptoms : composure ; safe lodging and boarding : control of outward appearance : control of health ; meeting and fellowship with friends : and custom. The outcomes of the utilization of the place were : mitigation of physical signs and symptoms : psychological tranquility : cosmetic and diet ; good use of spare time : and utilization of services provided there. Most women who visited ZZimzilbang for relief of physical signs and symptoms strongly mentioned a correlation to inadequate Sanhujori, the traditional postpartal and postabortal care for woman. Some of specific kinds of services provided in that place were alternative therapy such as acupuncture, negative cupping, finger-pressure, mugwort steam and various kinds of massage including massage of blood vessels that are influenced by Oriental medicine ; health education of breathing such as abdominal breathing or Danjeon(단전호흡) : and selling of many things including health foods, drugs for osteoporosis, and eutrophics. This study suggests that professional caregivers should further study this phenomenon for the development of adequate care of women with a resulting important in their quality of life.

용호비결 연단술의 분석심리학적 의미 (On the Secret Scripture of Dragon and Tiger (Yong-Ho-Bi-Gyeol)-a Jungian Commentary)

  • 용호비결은 조선 중기의 문신이던 정렴(1506~1549년) 선생이 저술한 일종의 선도(仙道) 수련서로 매월당 김시습의 용호론의 맥을 잇는 조선시대 가장 중요한 도교문헌의 하나라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 정렴 선생과 용호비결 판본에 대하여 소개하고 책의 제목인 용호(龍虎), 책의 내용 중 수단지도(修丹之道), 폐기(閉氣), 호흡법, 단전(丹田), 현빈일규(玄牝一竅)의 연금술적 내용을 분석심리학적 측면에서 살펴보았다. 용호(龍虎)는 정신양(psychoid) 단계에서 작용하는 변환의 요소로 이를 통하여 단(丹)이 만들어지는데 단(丹)은 메르쿠리우스이자 철학자의 돌로 연금술의 적화 단계를 의미하기도 한다. 정렴 선생은 단(丹)을 이루기 위하여 가늘고 긴 호흡을 통한 단전에의 집중을 강조하였는데 이를 폐기(閉氣)라고 한다. 폐기(閉氣)는 능동적으로 니그레도(nigredo) 상태로 들어가는 것으로 이때 우리의 정신은 외부로 향한 투사를 거두어들여 단전(丹田)을 향해 집중한다. 니그레도를 통한 지속적인 수련은 알베도(albedo) 상태로의 이행을 가능케 하며 이를 통해 투사에 의한 객체의 오염으로부터 정신이 자유로와져 마음의 중심이 자아(ego)로부터 자기(Self)로 옮겨간다. 현빈일규(玄牝一竅)란 노자가 곡신(谷神)으로 표현한 우주의 여성적 원리를 경험하고 이를 체화하는 것이다.

바티니에프 기본원리를 통해 본 양식 태극권에 관한 연구 (A study on Yang Shi Tai Chi Chuan in Bartenieff Fundamentals Perspectives)

  • 본 연구는 태극권 움직임에서 신체의 이완방법을 개발하기 위해 바티니에프 기본원리를 적용하여 태극권 움직임의 원리를 분석하였다. 이 연구과정을 통해 태극권과 바티니에프의 신체 움직임이 일맥상통한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 첫째, 태극권과 바티니에프의 신체 움직임 철학 각도에서 살펴보면 두 기법의 궁극적인 목표는 모두 정신과 신체의 통합이다. 즉 동양의 심신일원론(心身一元論)과 서양의 신체자각(Body Awareness)이 일맥상통하였다. 둘째, 바티니에프가 제시한 호흡지지의 측면에서 살펴보면 두 기법은 모두 호흡을 통해 신체를 자연스럽게 움직이게 하고 각 부위를 이완시킨다. 태극권에서 기(氣)는 생명의 바탕이며 신(身)의 힘이다. 즉, 태극권의 호흡은 몸과 마음(Body- Mind)을 소통, 조화, 융화시킬 수 있는 것이다. 다시 말해서 태극권의 호흡은 정신적인 융합을 통하여 이루어지며 움직임에 영향을 주었다. 바티니에프의 호흡지지도 마찬가지다. 바티니에프의 호흡은 모든 관점에서 움직임에 영향을 주고 호흡은 몸의 내부와 외부의 형태를 모두 변화시킨다고 한다. 셋째, 바티니에프가 제시한 중심부지지의 측면에서 살펴보면 두 기법은 모두 중심을 강조하였다. 중심 지지를 의식하면서 움직이면 몸의 표면적인 근육보다는 좀 더 깊은 근육을 사용할 수 있으며 이를 통해 강하고 유연한 움직임을 가능하게 하였다. 태극권의 기침단전(氣沉丹田)은 의식적으로 복식호흡을 사용하고 힘을 중심으로 모은다. 이러한 운동을 할 때 중심은 더 안정되고 호흡 역시 순조로워진다. 넷째, 바티니에프 기본원리에서 제시한 회전적 요인의 측면에서 살펴보면 모두 회전을 사용한 움직임을 통해 신체 이완이라는 목적을 이루게 된다. 바티니에프의 회전적 요인은 축을 중심으로 3차원적으로 움직이는 관절운동이라는 특성을 인지함으로써 동작을 더욱 쉽게 하고 자유롭게 할 수 있었다. 태극권도 마찬가지다. 태극권은 원형과 나선형(Spiral Movement)의 움직임을 통해서 공간을 최대한 접근하고 매끄럽게 흐름을 전환해서 이완이라는 목적을 이루게 되었다. 다섯 번째, 코헨(Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen)의 Body-Mind Centering Work 이론을 토대로 바티네에프가 정립한 발달 모형의 각도에서 살펴보면 태극권의 움직임의 발전과정과 발달 모형에서 제시한의 호흡, 중심-말초부 연결 / 중앙 반사, 머리- 꼬리뼈 연결 / 척추의 움직임, 상체-하체 연결 / 상응하는 움직임, 신체의 반쪽 연결 / 동종 편측 연결, 교차 측면 연결 / 대측 연결 모두 일맥상통함을 알 수 있었다. 즉 태극권은 호흡을 통해 에너지를 중심으로 모으고, 요추를 통해 상체와 하체를 연결하며 움직임이 발전할 때 동종 편측 연결뿐만 아니라 교차 측면 연결을 할 수 있다. 이러한 연구를 통해 무용의 움직임을 자연스럽게 표현하고, 신체 자각을 토대로 중심축과 관절, 및 균형을 이용한 신체의 움직임 원리를 분석해낼 수 있었다.
