Recently, as people's interest in facial skin beauty has increased, research on skin disease recognition for facial skin beauty is being conducted by using deep learning. These studies recognized a variety of skin diseases, including acne. Existing studies can recognize only the single skin diseases, but skin diseases that occur on the face can enact in a more diverse and complex manner. Therefore, in this paper, complex skin diseases such as acne, blackheads, freckles, age spots, normal skin, and whiteheads are identified using the Inception-ResNet V2 deep learning mode with multi-label classification. The accuracy was 98.8%, hamming loss was 0.003, and precision, recall, F1-Score achieved 96.6% or more for each single class.
To classify the landfast ice in the north of the Greenland, observation data, multifrequency Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images and texture images were used. The total four types of sea ice are first year ice, highly deformed ice, ridge and moderately deformed ice. The texture images that were processed by K-means algorithm showed higher accuracy than the ones that were processed by SAR images; however, overall accuracy of maximum likelihood algorithm using texture images did not show the highest accuracy all the time. It turned out that when using K-means algorithm, the accuracy of the multi SAR images were higher than the single SAR image. When using the maximum likelihood algorithm, the results of single and multi SAR images are differ from each other, therefore, maximum likelihood algorithm method should be used properly.

Fault detection during production processes is one of the required operational tasks to run production processes both safely and consistently. Unexpected operational events or undetected process faults can have a serious impact on the production systems and subsequently on the final products' quality. In addition, such situations may lead to malfunctions or breakdowns of production processes. To reliably detect such abnormalities, a new one-class classification-based detection scheme has recently been developed The proposed method consists of four steps:1) noise filtering, 2) feature selection, 3) nonlinear representation and 4) outlier detection. The performance of the proposed scheme was demonstrated using the multivariate data obtained from a simulation process. The results have shown that the proposed method produced reliable monitoring results and outperforms any existing methods with an average improvement of 25.4%. The use of proper feature selection in the proposed framework yielded better detection performance.
Typical anomaly detection algorithms are trained by using prior data. Thus the batch learning based algorithms cause inevitable performance degradation when characteristics of newly incoming normal data change over time. We propose an online anomaly detection algorithm which can consider the gradual characteristic changes of incoming normal data. The proposed algorithm based on one-class classification model includes both offline and online learning procedures. In offline learning procedure, the algorithm learns the prior data to be close to centroid of the latent space and then updates the centroid of the latent space incrementally by new incoming data. In the online learning, the algorithm continues learning by using the updated centroid. Through experiments using public underwater acoustic data, the proposed online anomaly detection algorithm takes only approximately 2 % additional learning time for the incremental centroid update and learning. Nevertheless, the proposed algorithm shows 19.10 % improvement in Area Under the receiver operating characteristic Curve (AUC) performance compared to the offline learning model when new incoming normal data comes.

This study proposes a methodology for using facet analysis in ontology modeling and investigates how facet analysis could be utilized in ontology design processes. We applied facet analysis methods developed by Ranganathan and CRG (Classification Research Group) to modeling Smartphone ontology. Utilizing the guiding principles of Ranganathan and CRG, main facets, such as Type, Spec, Function, Operation, Product, Person, Agent, Space and Time, are derived for Smartphone ontology. It is hoped that the methods and procedures employed in identifying and categorizing facets and ontology in this study will provide insights into designing future ontologies.

In this paper, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC), Decorrelated Filter Bank (DFB), Octave-based Spectral Contrast (OSC), Zero-Crossing Rate (ZCR), and Spectral Contract/Roll-Off are combined as a set of multiple feature-vectors for the music genre classification system based on the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. In the conventional system, feature vectors for the entire genre classes are normalized for the SVM model training and classification. However, in this paper, selected feature vectors that are compared based on the One-Against-One (OAO) SVM classifier are only used for normalization. Using OSC as a single feature-vector and the multiple feature-vectors, we obtain the genre classification rates of 60.8% and 77.4%, respectively, with the conventional normalization method. Using the proposed normalization method, we obtain the increased classification rates by 8.2% and 3.3% for OSC and the multiple feature-vectors, respectively.
LDA (Linear Discriminant Analysis) provides the projection that discriminates the data well, and shows a very good performance for face recognition. However, since LDA provides only one transformation matrix over whole data, it is not sufficient to discriminate the complex data consisting of many classes like honan faces. To overcome this weakness, we propose a new face recognition method, called LDA mixture model, that the set of alf classes are partitioned into several clusters and we get a transformation matrix for each cluster. This detailed representation will improve the classification performance greatly. In the simulation of face recognition, LDA mixture model outperforms PCA, LDA, and PCA mixture model in terms of classification performance.

Early detection of oestrus in Korean cows is one of the important issues in maximizing the economic benefit. Although various methods have been proposed, we still need to improve the performance of the oestrus detection system. In this paper, we propose a video surveillance system which can detect unusual behavior of multiple cows including the mounting activity. The unusual behavior detection is to detect the dangerous or abnormal situations of cows in video coming in real time from a surveillance camera promptly and correctly. The prototype system for unusual behavior detection gets an input video from a fixed location camera, and uses the motion vector to represent the motion information of cows in video, and finally selects a SVDD (one of the most well-known types of one-class SVM) as a detector by reinterpreting the unusual behavior into an one class decision problem from the practical points of view. The experimental results with the videos obtained from a farm located in Jinju illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Corporate bankruptcy prediction has been an important topic in the accounting and finance field for a long time. Several data mining techniques have been used for bankruptcy prediction. However, there are many limits for application to real classification problem with a single model. This study proposes ensemble SVM (support vector machine) model which assembles different SVM models with each different kernel functions. Our ensemble model is made and evaluated by v-fold cross-validation approach. The k top performing models are recruited into the ensemble. The classification is then carried out using the majority voting opinion of the ensemble. In this paper, we investigate the performance of ensemble SVM classifier in terms of accuracy, error rate, sensitivity, specificity, ROC curve, and AUC to compare with single SVM classifiers based on financial ratios dataset and simulation dataset. The results confirmed the advantages of our method: It is robust while providing good performance.

This work presents an ECG biometric recognition system for the purpose of biometric authentication. ECG biometric approaches are divided into two major categories, fiducial-based and non-fiducial-based methods. This paper proposes a new non-fiducial framework using discrete cosine transform and a Random Forest classifier. When using DCT, most of the signal information tends to be concentrated in a few low-frequency components. In order to apply feature vector of Random Forest, DCT feature vectors of ECG heartbeats are constructed by using the first 40 DCT coefficients. RF is based on the computation of a large number of decision trees. It is relatively fast, robust and inherently suitable for multi-class problems. Furthermore, it trade-off threshold between admission and rejection of ID inside RF classifier. As a result, proposed method offers 99.9% recognition rates when tested on MIT-BIH NSRDB.
