Thermal Insulation Property of UV Cure Coatings Using Hollow Micro-Spheres (마이크로 중공구를 이용한 자외선 경화 코팅 박막의 단열 특성)

  • In this study, the composite coating materials with improved thermal insulation property were prepared by incorporating the hollow micro-spheres with high heat transfer resistance. The UV curable resin system consisting of hexa aliphatic urethane acrylate (UP118), trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA), and photoinitiator (Irgacure184) was employed as an organic binder. The glass substrates were coated by the prepared composites via bar coating method and cured under UV radiation. The optical transparency, thermal insulation property, adhesion, and surface hardness of the glass coated with composites containing different type of micro-spheres were investigated. The incorporation of micro-spheres with only 20 vol% of content resulted in remarkable improvement in the thermal insulation property of the coated glass. In addition, the transparent coated glass with light transmittance of about 80% could be obtained when silica micro-sphere (SP) was used as a thermal barrier.

Characterizations on the Thermal Insulation of SiC Coated Carbon-Carbon Composites (탄화규소로 코팅된 탄소-탄소 복합재료의 단열 특성)

  • This study investigates the characterization on the thermal insulation properties of silicon carbide coating on the Cf-C composites. The silicon carbide coatings by chemical vapor deposition on the C/C composites are prepared to evaluate thermal resistance. Firstly, we perform the basic insulation test by thermal shock at 1350℃ in air on the C/C composite and SiC-coated C/C composite. We also performed the burner tests on the surface of the composites at high temperatures such as 1700 and 2000℃, and the weight change after burner tests are measured. The damages on the surface of C/C composite and SiC-coated composite are observed. As a result, the SiC coating is beneficial to protect the C/C composite from high temperature even though damages such as defoliation, crack and voids are observed during burner test at 2000℃.

  • 창호를 통해 건축물 내부에 유입되는 태양광, 특히 태양열 유입에 큰 영향을 미치는 적외선 파장대역을 차폐할 수 있는 특성을 갖는 근적외선 반사 또는 흡수용 원천소재 개발하였다. 근적외선 반사는 고 굴절률/저 굴절률 다중 코팅막을 이용하여 상대적으로 에너지가 높은 800~1,300 nm 파장 영역의 근적외선만을 효율적으로 반사시킬 수 있 방식으로 적외선 차단 효율을 개선하였다. 근적외선 흡수용 나노박막 유 무기 복합소재를 기반으로 하여 특정 파장대에서 적외선을 흡수하도록 하여 적외선 차단 효율을 증대시켰다. 본 연구개발의 고단열 유리는 기존에 개발된 저방사 유리의 문제점인 높은 근적외선 투과문제를 해결하기 위한 대체/보완기술로서 이를 이용한 대면적 코팅을 통한 고기능성 복층창호 시스템을 구성하였고, 이에 대한 단열 특성 실험을 실시하였다.

Residual stresses on plasma sprayed zirconia coatings (플라즈마 용사법에 의한 지르코니아 코팅에서의 잔류응력에 대한 연구)

  • Zirconia coatings are performed by the plasma spraying on the substrate of Al-Si alloy. In case of plasma sprayed ceramic coatings, it is important to control properly residual stress occurred during cooling process. Residual stress in coating layer varies with sprayed conditions and is influenced greatly by the coating layer thickness. Surface residual stress due to coating layer thickness is measured by X-ray diffraction method and the residual stress in coating layer is estimated by the deflection of coating layer when the restraint force in substrate was removed. When zirconia was coated on the substrate, tensile residual stress remains on zirconia coated surface layer. The tensile stress is increased to 0.35mm thickness and after 0.45mm thickness it is decreased abrouptly. A thick bond and composite coating reduce the zirconia surface stress and composite coating controls effectively the thick zirconia surface stress.

  • In this study, the composite coating materials with improved thermal insulation property were prepared by incorporating the hydrophobic silica aerogel. The surface modification of silica aerogel was performed to obtain UV curable urethane acrylate hybrid coating sols with good compatibility by using surfactant(Brij 56). The polycarbonate substrates were coated by the prepared composites and cured under UV radiation. The incorporation of aerogel with only 10 vol% of content resulted in remarkable improvement by about 28% in the thermal insulation property of the coated film, as compared with substrate. In addition, increasing aerogel content was found to give minor effect on the variation of optical transparency, adhesion, and surface hardness of the coated film.

  • The purpose of this work is to coat ZrO$_{2}$ - 8Y$_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic on the Al cast alloy(AC-8A) by using the plasma spray method. Two types of coatings which were composed of two and three layer coating were examined. Each coating powder was analyzed for shape and size distribution and X-ray diffraction pattern. For the coated layers, microstructural analysis and performance estimation which was composed of static thermal test, thermal cyclic test and thermal shock test were conducted.
