Factors Affecting Traffic Accident Occurrence Rate (교통사고율에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석)

  • For 5 years and 6 months, ranging from January 2003 to June 2008, SPSS 12.0 Statistical Program was used to analyze the overall analysis, analysis of center line encroachment, analysis of signal violations, analysis of drinking while intoxicated, analysis of driving without license, analysis of two-wheel vehicle, analysis of pedestrian, analysis of safety equipment, analysis of traffic publicity or education and automobile registration accounts, and casualty of traffic accidents that are determined as having statistical implication based on the statistics available from the policy to take a look at traffic accident in the Daejeon area, and there were some meaningful results. With the proof that there is a certain level of ratio for the correlations between traffic control and traffic accident that the effect of traffic control has shown with certain time interval. The relationship of traffic control and the casualty of traffic accident has very low coefficient of correlations that it is not statistically noticeable that traffic control of the police has almost no effect in preventing traffic accident. This is a display of the fact that the conversion of direction for traffic safety measure undertaken to this point is rather urgent that there is a dire need of establishing the effective alternatives.

Freeway Bus-Only Lane Enforcement System Using Infrared Image Processing Technique (적외선 영상검지 기술을 활용한 고속도로 버스전용차로 단속시스템 개발)

  • An automatic freeway bus-only lane enforcement system was developed and assessed in a real-world environment. Observation of a bus-only lane on the Youngdong freeway, South Korea, revealed that approximately 99% of the vehicles violated the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane regulation. However, the current enforcement by the police not only exhibits a low enforcement rate, but also induces unnecessary safety and delay concerns. Since vehicles with six passengers or higher are permitted to enter freeway bus-only lanes, identifying the number of passengers in a vehicle is a core technology required for a freeway bus-only lane enforcement system. To that end, infrared cameras and the You Only Look Once (YOLOv5) deep learning algorithm were utilized. For assessment of the performance of the developed system, two environments, including a controlled test-bed and a real-world freeway, were used. As a result, the performances under the test-bed and the real-world environments exhibited 7% and 8% errors, respectively, indicating satisfactory outcomes. The developed system would contribute to an efficient freeway bus-only lane operations as well as eliminate safety and delay concerns caused by the current manual enforcement procedures.

A Comparative Study on the Statistical Methodology to Determine the Optimal Aggregation Interval for Travel Time Estimation of the Interrupted Traffic Flow (단속류 통행시간 추정을 위한 적정 집락간격 결정에 관한 통계적 방법론 비교 연구)

  • The goals of this paper are two folds: i) to evaluate whether the data collected by a license plate matching AVI equipment being operated on some segment of a national highway are suitable or not for use in travel time estimation of interrupted traffic flows; ii) to study the statistical methodologies to be used for the determination of the optimal aggregation interval for travel time estimation. In this study it was found that the AVI data are not representative because the data are collected on some selected lanes of a roadway where main traffic is thru-traffic and, thus the AVI data are different from those collected from all lanes in traffic characteristics. For the determination of the optimal aggregation interval for travel time estimation. two statistical methods. namely point estimation and interval estimation. were tested. The test shows that the point estimation method is more sensitive and gives more desirable results in determing the optimal aggregation interval than the interval estimation method. And it turned out that the optimal aggregation interval on interrupted traffic flows has been calculated as 5 minute and thus the existing aggregation interval. 5 minute is proper.

Safety Impacts of Red Light Enforcement on Signalized Intersections (교차로 신호위반 단속카메라 설치가 차량사고에 미치는 영향)

  • The frequency and severity of traffic accidents related to signalized intersections in urban areas have been more serious than those in both arterial segments and crosswalks. Especially, traffic accidents involved with injuries and fatalities have caused by traffic signal violations within intersections. Therefore, many countries including Korea have installed the red light enforcement camera (RLE) to reduce traffic accidents associated with the traffic signal violation. Meanwhile, many methodologies have been studied in terms of safety impacts estimation of red light enforcement, which, however, cannot be easy to conduct. In this study, safety impacts was estimated for intersections of Chicago downtown area using SPF models and EB approach. As a result, for all crash types and target traffic accident types such as "angle", "rear end", "sideswipe in the same and other directions", "turn", and "head on", fatal crashes were reduced by 26% and 38%. However, RLE may increase property-demage-only-crashes by 3.23% and 1.16%, respectively.

출력업체 대표들 "밤새 안녕하셨습니까"

  • 지난 7월 중순부터 충무로 일대 출력업체들이 한국소프트웨어저작권협회(SPC ; Korea Software Proprety-right Council)직원들을 위시한 불법 소프트웨어 단속반의 출현으로 인해 때아닌 곤욕을 치르고 있다. 이번 단속은 특정회사 출력기를 취급하는 Y사가 출력기를 판매함에 있어 폰트를 불법으로 복제해 '서비스(?)'로 끼워서 판매한 것이 발단이 됐는 데 Y사 관계자는 지난 10월에도 SPC에 의해 수사 의뢰되어 해당 지방 경찰청의 조사를 받은 바 있는 것으로 알려져 있다.
