Objective : This study was designed to assess effect of and Chenwangbosim-Dan(CWBSD) herbs on Mouse neuroblastoma 2a cells damaged by hypoxia-reoxygenation. Method : Mouse neuroblastoma 2a (N2a) cells were measured by MTT assay and LDH assay after 48h hypoxia and 6h reoxygenation. Mouse neuroblastoma 2a (N2a) cells were treated by CWBSD and herbs. Result : 1. In MTT assay of hypoxia CWBSD and BJI, SJH, IS, CHR, HS among all of herbs were effective. Especially CWBSD and IS were highly effective. 2. In MTT assay of reoxygenation SJI, SJH, VJ, IS, BJI were effective. Especially SJI, SJH, YJ were highly effective. 3. In LDH assay of hypoxia CWBSD, DS, DG, SJH, OMZ were effective. Especially CWBSD, DG were highly effective. 4. In LDH assay of reoxygenation all of herbs except CWBSD and BJI were generally effective. Especially CHR, SJH, YJ, OMZ, HS were highly effective. Conclusion : The results suggest that CWBSD, and it's ingradient(especially SJH, CHR and SJI) may have protective effect on condition of oxidative stress.

(La,Sr)MnO$_3$(LSM)-YSZ 복합체 양극에 있어서 소결온도 및 전극두께와 cathodic potential이 전극 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 양극의 소결은 삼상계면의 양을 결정하는 중요한 변수로 LSM 단미 양극과 YSZ가 40 wt% 포함된 LSM-YSZ 복합체 양극 모두 120$0^{\circ}C$에 소결했을 때 가장 낮은 분극저항을 나타내었다. 또한 양극 후막의 두께가 얇아지면 양극의 in-plane 저항이 증가하여 ohmic 저항이 증가하였는데, LSM-YSZ 복합체 양극의 경우 약 30$mu extrm{m}$ 정도의 전극두께가 가장 효과적인 전극 특성을 나타내었다. 한편, LSM-YSZ 복합체 양극에 -0.5 V의 cathodic potential을 인가함에 따라 양극에서 일어나는 산소환원반응의 활성이 증가하였는데, 1가 산소이온의 표면확산반응의 분극저항은 감소하였으나, 고주파수 영역에서 나타나는 산소이온전달반응의 저항은 거의 변화하지 않았다. 이것은 Mn의 환원에 의한 양극표면에 생성된 산소공공에 기인한다.

Objectives : Zizyphus seed has long been used in hypnotics and sedatives in oriental medicine, and it is reported that the Zizyphus seed elicited a variety of pharmacological actions besides CNS depression. We did a clinical study on the effectiveness of Zizyphus seed (Ansim-san) for insomnia in stroke patients. Methods : To 41 stroke patients suffering from insomnia, we administered the extract of Zizyphus seed (Ansim-san). Outcome measures were subjective in nature and included a morning questionnaire, visual analog scales, and observation forms by study personnel. We also, to find the applicable symptom-complex of Zizyphus seed (Ansim-san), examined accompanying symptoms. Results : 1. Zizyphus seed extract use meant that sleep latency was shorter, total sleep time was longer, number of wakenings was lower, wake time during sleep was shorter, sleep quality was improved, condition upon awakening was improved, ability to concentrate was improved, and the patients fell asleep more easily (P<0.001). There were no differences in morning sleepiness. 2. Among accompanying symptoms, an oppressed feeling in the chest was significant (P=0.035) in the patients who improved sleep quality. Conclusions : The results of this clinical study suggest that in stroke patients, Zizyphus seed (Ansim-san) can be effective for insomnia, and significantly effective in patients who have an oppressed feeling in the chest.

Serum proteins of Korean native dogs (Gyeongju DongGyeong dogs) was analyzed by capillary electrophoresis system. Electrophoretic patterns showed six fractions. Total serum protein and ratio of albumin to globulin were $5.99{\pm}0.83$ (g/dl) and $1.41{\pm}0.29$ (g/dl) in DongGyeong dogs. Relative percentages of total serum albumin and $\alpha-1$, $\alpha-2$, $\beta-1$, $\beta-2$, $\gamma$-globulin fraction were $57.94{\pm}5.43$, $3.15{\pm}2.30$, $7.49{\pm}4.09$, $9.43{\pm}3.50$, $7.63{\pm}5.70$, and $14.36{\pm}7.63$, respectively. It was observed that $\beta$-globulin was higher than other fractions. The most striking alternation with age was founded in the $\gamma$-fractions. Also, it was observed that ratios of albumin to globulin in DongGyeong dogs were higher than on other dogs.

In Oriental medicine, So-gal(消渴) is similar to Diabetes Mellitus in the symptoms. In the medical treatment of So-gal(消渴), one kind of herb medicine is recorded in ancent medicine literatures. That herb medicine is a juice of vegetable drunken with herb medicine of So-gal(消渴). Milk(牛乳汁), human milk(人乳汁), gam-ja-jup(甘蔗汁), wo-jul-jup(藕節汁), li-jup(梨汁), sang-gang-jup(生薑汁) etc. is that. In that juices, Milk(牛乳汁), human milk(人乳汁), gam-ja-jup(甘蔗汁), wo-jul-jup(藕節汁), li-jup(梨汁) have sweety tastes, and cold nature. So they cure So-gal(消渴) come from dry and hot nature. Sang-gang-jup(生薑汁) is different with others in the taste and nature that sweety and hot taste and hot nature. Sang-gang-jup(生薑汁) cure the sequela of So-gal(消渴) by his hot nature. We think In Diabetes Mellitus, that juice can be used by drink for the treatment of diet because of simility between So-gal(消渴) and DM.

Traditional medicines usually use combinational formula that are prepared by mixing different varieties of medicinal herbs and boiling them in water to yield a decoction. In recent years a modified method has been proposed and practiced wherein the individual herbs are boiled with water separately and later these extracts are mixed together for use. We attempted to evaluate their equivalence in terms of its polyphenol contents and DPPH radical scavenging activity. The polyphenol contents as well as the DPPH radical scavenging activities were very similar to each other.

양돈장에서 번식돈은 농장의 시작이자 마지막이라 과언이 아닐 것이다. 그만큼 중요한 돼지이며 번식돈 관리만 철저히 해도 소모성 질병으로부터의 피해를 어느 정도는 줄일 수 있다고 생각한다. 이렇게 중요한 번식돈 관리가 모두가 알고 있는 것처럼 여름철에는 매우 힘들다. 힘든 여름철 번식돈 관리의 핵심은 사료 섭취량에 있다. 사람도 여름철이되면 입맛이 떨어지고 차가운 물만 찾는 것과 마찬가지로 돼지도 그렇다. 덥기 때문에 사료 섭취량은 자연적으로 감소하게 되고 포유돈의 경우 줄어든 사료 섭취량은 모유 분비량에 직접적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 이유 제충이 감소하게 되고 이는 농장 총 육성률에 영향을 미치게 된다. 다시 말해서 여름철 포유돈 사료 섭취량 감소는 이유 체중, PSY(연간 모돈 두당 이유자돈수), MSY(연간 모돈 두당 출하두수) 그리고 WSY (연간 모돈 두당 출하체중)에 결정적인 영향을 미친다 해도 과언이 아닌 것이다. 여름철 번식돈 관리 방안을 논하기에 앞서 대한민국 여름철은 어떤 특징을 갖고 있는지 생각해보자. 여름철 날씨를 대중 목욕탕 사우나에 비교해서 설명해 보겠다. 대중 목욕탕에 가보면 사우나가 있는데, 이 사우나를 대한민국 여름철과 비교해 볼 수 있다. 사우나에는 건식과 습식 사우나가 있는데, 이 두 사우나실의 온도를 보면 건식보다 습식사우나실의 온도가 10~20℃ 정도 더 낮은 것을 볼 수 있다. 그러나 실제로 사람이 느끼는 온도는 습식 사우나실에 들어갔을 때 더 뜨겁게 느낀다. 상대적으로 낮은 온도임에도 불구하고 습식 사우나실이 더 뜨겁다고 느끼는 이유는 습도에 의한 것이다. 대한민국 여름철은 바로 습식 사우나실과 같은 환경인 것이다. 지금부터는 습식 사우나실과 같은 고온 다습한 대한민국 여름철 환경에서 번식돈이 받을 수 있는 고온스트레스의 정도와 고온 스트레스가 번식돈 생산성에 미치는 영향을 설명하고자 한다.

We performed this study to determine the radioprotective effects of Shi-Quan-Dai-Bu-Tang, as a prescription of traditional Oriental medicine, and its major ingredients. The jejunal crypt survival, endogenous spleen colony formation, and apoptosis in jejunal crypt cells were investigated in mice irradiated with high and low dose of ${\gamma}$-rays. The administration of danggui, baishaoyao, rensan, gancao or baifuling before irradiation protected the jejunal crypts (p<0.005). Shoudehuang, danggui, baishaoyao, rensan and huangqui increased the formation of endogenous spleen colony (p<0.05). Chuanxiong, baishaoyao, rensan and baifuling reduced the frequency of radiation-induced apotosis (p<0.05). The results indicated that the extracts of danggui, baishaoyao, rensan and baifuling may have radoprotective effects in mice irradiated with high and low dose of ${\gamma}$-rays. The radioprotective effect of the prescription, Shi-Qaun-Da-Bu-Tang, was not significant.

The 7 zoeal and 1 megalopal stages of Cha~bdi8 bimaculata (Miers, 1886) are descrihed and iflustrated in detail from larvae reared in lahoratory. Under isboratory conditions of 22$^{\circ}C$ temperature and 33.3~ salinity, the magalopa was attained in 32 days or more after hatching. The larval morphology of the first zoea of C. bimaculata are coincide with those of Charybdis species by hearing lateral spines on carapace, ~type antenna, A-type telson, 1,6 setae on the endoped of maxillule, and 6 setae on the endopod of maxilla. Morphological features of C. bimaculata larvae were compared to the previous descriptions of larvae of the other spedes helonging to the same genus.

The zoeal development of the pilumnid crab, Pilumnus minutus De Haan, 1835 consisted of 4 zoeal stages. The duration of the zoeal stages was at least 15 days at $25^{\circ}C$. The morphology of the zoeal stage is described in detail, and comparisons are made with the known larvae of other species of the family pilumnidae. The Pilumnus minutus zoea strongly resembles zoeae of other species of the genus Pilumnus in the mouthpart setation and the carapace spines, but shows some differences in the abodominal lateral knobs. the Pilumnus minutus zoea has some affinities with the Parapilumnus trispinosus zoea by having the abodominal lateral knobs on somites 2, 3, 4 and 5.
