A study on the social cost estimation of the tunnel section enlargement method considering traffic flow (교통흐름을 고려한 터널단면 확대 시공기술의 사회적 손실비용 산정에 관한 연구)

  • Using existing tunnel for section enlargement and remodeling is being considered as an optimal alternative in order to solve traffic jam in tunnel. The existing method has been performed while blocking the traffic flow. Recently, New enlargement method was developed which can maintain traffic flow during the construction by using protector. It can minimize social loss due to keeping traffic flow. On the other hand, installing and operating protector can cause economic disadvantages. So, social cost estimation considering traffic flow should be considered for relevant economic evaluation of tunnel section enlargement methods. This paper presents the social cost estimation method of tunnel section enlargement methods considering traffic flow. In addition, to compare economic efficiency existing method with new method, suggested method was applied to Maebong Tunnel.

활주형선의 단면형상 및 장-폭비와 저항특성과의 관계에 대한 실험적 연구

  • 이 글에서는 활주형선의 단면형상 및 장-폭비와 저항특성과의 관계를 실험적으로 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 5단계로 구성된 연구 계획중 졔 1단계 연구로써 수행되었으며 본 연구를 통하여 단면형상 및 장-폭비의 변화에 따른 저항특성, 종방향 경상(trim), 그리고 침하량(sinkage)의 변화에 대한 초기 결론을 내릴 수 있다. 이러한 초기 결과를 가지고 활주형선의 일반적인 특성에 대한 어떤 분명한 결론을 내리기에는 부족하다고 하겠으나 앞으로 남은 연구를 효율적, 성공적으로 이끌어 가기 위한 초석이 된다고 할 수 있겠다.

Experimental Investigation of Aerodynamic Force Coefficients and Flutter Derivatives of Bridge Girder Sections (교량단면의 공기력계수 및 플러터계수에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate a correlation between fundamental data on aerodynamic characteristics of bridge girder cross-sections, such as aerodynamic force coefficients and flutter derivatives, and their aerodynamic behaviour. The section model tests were carried out in three stages. In the first stage, seven deck configurations were studied, namely; Six 2-edge girders and one box girder. In this stage, changes in aerodynamic force coefficients due to geometrical shape of girders, incidence angle of flow, wind directions and turbulence intensities were studied by static section model tests. In the second stage, the dynamic section model tests were carried out to investigate the relativity of static coefficients to dynamic responses. And finally, the two-dimensional (lift-torsion) aerodynamic derivatives of three bridge deck configurations were investigated by dynamic section model tests. The aerodynamic derivatives can be best described as a representation of the aerodynamic damping and the aerodynamic stiffness provided by the wind for a given deck geometry. The method employed here to extract these unsteady aerodynamic properties is known as the initial displacement technique. It involves the measurement of the decay in amplitude with time of an initial displacement of the deck in heave and torsion, for various wind speeds, in smooth flow. It is suggested that the proposed aerodynamic force coefficients and flutter derivatives of bridge girder sections will be potentially useful for the aeroelastic analysis and buffeting analysis.

Free Vibration Analysis of Curved Beams with Varying Cross-Section (단면적이 변하는 곡선보의 진동해석)

  • The differential quadrature method(DQM) is applied to the free in-plane vibration analysis of circular curved beams with varying cross-section neglecting transverse shearing deformation. Natural frequencies are calculated for the beams with various opening angles and end conditions. Results obtained by the DQM are compared with available results by other methods in the literature. It is found that the DQM gives good accuracy even with a small number of grid points. In addition, the corrected results are given for the beams not previously presented for this problem.

Cone Resistivity Penetrometer for Detecting Thin-Layered Soils (협재층 탐지를 위한 선단비저항 콘)

  • The thin-layered sand seam in clay affects the soil behavior. Although the standard cone penetrometer (A: $10cm^2$) have been used to evaluate the thin-layered soil, the smaller diameter cone penetrometer have been commonly recommended because of the high resolution. The purpose of this study is the development and application of the Cone Resistivity Penetrometer (CRP), which detects qc, fs, and electrical resistivity at cone tip for the evaluation of thin layered soils. Two sizes of the CRP are developed for the laboratory and field test. The projected areas of CRP for the laboratory and field tests are $0.78cm^2$ (d: 1.0 cm) and $1.76cm^2$ (d: 1.5 cm), repectively. The length of friction sleeve is designed in consideration of ratio of the projected area to the friction sleeve area. The application tests are carried out by using the artificially prepared thin-layered soils in the laboratory. In addition, the field tests are conducted at the depth of 6 to 15 m in Kwangyang. In the laboratory test, the measured electrical resistivity and cone tip resistance detect the soil layers. Moreover, in the field test the CRP investigates the three thin-layered soils. This study suggests that the CRP may be a useful tool for detecting thin-layered in soft soils.

  • Based on the Butler scattering kernel for D$_2$O, a computer code DEUKEB has been developed to compute the scattering laws, differential scattering cross sections and total scattering cross sections. Interference scattering between ally two atoms of a D$_2$O molecule is important in resolving the distribution of scattered neutrons in thermal energy region. Energy-transfer scattering cross sections are, therefore, studied in the various incident neutron energies. This study may be put in practice to utilize the kernel in determining the neutron spectrum in a reactor system. The study also shows that the scattering process in D$_2$O is somewhat different from that in $H_2O$.

Flexural Strength Evaluation of PSC Beam with Loss of PS Tendon Area (PS강재의 단면적 감소에 따른 PSC보의 휨강도 평가)

  • This paper describes ultimate load tests which were performed to show the effects of prestress loss and tendon corrosion on the flexural strength of post-tensioned concrete beams and the occurrence of wire fracture. Five test specimens were fabricated in laboratory with the variations of the prestress of tendons and the loss of tendon area. For two specimens, small area of tendon at the center of the beam was exposed by using diameter 25mm drill and the exposed tendon was corroded using accelerated corrosion equipment. During the tests, deflections, crack width, and strain changes were measured and acoustic events were monitored with two acoustic sensors. Tests results show that the ultimate flexural strength of test specimens with corroded tendons is smaller than the predicted flexural strength which is calculated considering the loss of tendon area. It is considered that estimation of flexural strength of PSC beams with corroded tendons is very complicated just based on the loss of tendon area obtained by one-side visual inspection.

Development of Subsection Division Method to Estimate a Composite Roughness Coefficient (복합 조도계수 산정을 위한 단면 분할기법 개발)

  • Practically, the composite roughness coefficient, which is the equivalent roughness coefficient of a cross-section where the wall roughness is not constant along the wetted perimeter, is used to describe the flow conditions in open channels. In this study, it was conducted that the previous formulae was classified according to a weighting factor of the local resistance. The new subsection division method was also developed based on the force-balance concept in each subsection. The accuracy of the proposed method was examined and the applicability and limitation of the 13 existing formulae were analyzed by comparing the calculated with the experimental measured data from Djajadi (2009) and Knight and Macdonald (1979). It was found that Horton's method might underestimate the total conveyance of a composite channel and Lotter's method showed a good agreement between calculated and measured data. However, the proper division method, such as the proposed method based on the Z-method, is required for the application of Lotter's method.

  • 본 연구는 원자로 격납건물 내압해석에 있어 대표적 기하학적 변 단면을 변수로 하여 그 영향을 분석함으로써 격납건물 구조건전성시험(SIT : Structural Integrity Test)시 정확한 계측계획의 수립 및 시험결과와 비교 평가를 위한 해석상의 고려사항을 도출하고자 수행되었으며, 장비출입구 주변의 단면 설계를 위한 부분모델 작성시 고려되어야 하는 비 영향 영역 범위를 설정하고자 수행되었다. 해석결과 본 논문에서 고려된 대표적 기하학적 변단면의 영향이 비교적 큰 것으로 평가되어 격납건물 구조건전성 시험의 수행 및 평가에 고려되어야 할 요소가 도출되었으며 부분모델 작성시 고려되어야 하는 비영향 영역을 설정 할 수 있었다.

Sensitivity Analysis of Generalized Parameters on Concrete Creep Effects of Composite Section (합성단면의 콘크리트 크리프 효과에 대한 일반화 매개변수의 민감도 분석)

  • In this paper, the existing formulas of the step-by-step method were generalized for effective estimation of responses of complicated composite sections due to long-term deformation of concrete. The initial transformed section properties of the composite section were derived from material and section properties of concrete section and sections which confine the longterm deformation of concrete. The transformed section properties at each step were derived from the effective modulus of elasticity considered the creep coefficient variation. Improved formulas of the step-by-step method for generalized responses were derived by introducing 5 generalized parameters. The formulas can be more simplified by applying constant increment of creep coefficient at each step. The constant increment of creep coefficient at each step can also reduce computing time and make equal computing error of each step. The generalized responses for axial elastic strain of concrete section were most sensitive to the area rate of concrete section, and the ratio of the second moment of the confining section area was more sensitive than that of the concrete section. Those for elastic curvature of concrete section were most sensitive to the ratio of the second moment of concrete section area.
