A scheme to evaluate the number of users and cell coverage of a WCDMA supporting multi-rate traffic is newly presented through calculation of the realizable Erlang capacity from a derived blocking probability and the path loss from the COST231 Walfisch-Ikegami(W) model. We evaluate the voice-data Erlang capacities at various data rates of 15 kbps to 960 kbps and it is shown that they have a linear relationship to each other. When the E$\_$b//N$\_$o/ is low from 4 ㏈ to 3 ㏈ in case of voice capacity of 50 Erlang at 8 kbps, the result shows the increase for the data capacity of 10 Erlang and the enlargement of 100 m for the cell coverage at low rate of 15 kbps, and the increase of 0.11 Erlang and the enlargement of 40 m at high rate of 960 kbps. The increase of the blocking probability results in the increase of the Erlang capacity, but not an effect on the cell coverage, and the increase of active users in a cell results in the decrease of the coverage.

Our previously proposed method is further applied to find the queue length distribution of MMPP/D1 in an ATM multiplexer. We derive some useful relationship between the queue distribution seen by arriving cells and for a server befor each service. The relations were used to improve out approximation. For MMPP/D1 the calculated results show a good agreement with those obtained by a simulation of the system. Furthermore, our approximation provides fast numerical algorithms for general traffic models. These advantages demomstrate that our approximation method is useful for a fast and accurate traffic analysis in ATM networks.

In this paper, we propose a 3-D finite element (FE) analysis model with combined physical behavior and kinematical impact factors for evaluation of residual stress in multi-impact shot peening. The FE model considers both physical behavior of material and characteristics of kinematical impact. The physical parameters include elastic-plastic FE modeling of shot ball, material damping coefficient, dynamic friction coefficient. The kinematical parameters include impact velocity and diameter of shot ball. Multi-impact FE model consists of 3-D symmetry-cell. We can describe a certain repeated area of peened specimen under equibiaxial residual stress by the cell. With the cell model, we investigate the FE peening coverage, dependency on the impact sequence, effect of repeated cycle. The proposed FE model provides converged and unique solution of surface stress, maximum compressive residual stress and deformation depth at four impact positions. Further, in contrast to the rigid and elastic shots, plastically deformable shot produces residual stresses closer to experimental solutions by X-ray diffraction. Consequently, it is confirmed that the FE model with peening factors and plastic shot is valid for multi-shot peening analyses.

In this paper, we present a robust beamforming design to tackle the weighted sum-rate maximization (WSRM) problem in a multicell multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) - non-orthogonal multipleaccess (NOMA) downlink system for 5G wireless communications. This work consider the imperfectchannel state information (CSI) at the base station (BS) by adding uncertainties to channel estimation matrices as the worst-case model i.e., singular value uncertainty model (SVUM). With this observation, the WSRM problem is formulated subject to the transmit power constraints at the BS. The objective problem is known as on-deterministic polynomial (NP) problem which is difficult to solve. We propose an robust beam forming design which establishes on majorization minimization (MM) technique to find the optimal transmit beam forming matrix, as well as efficiently solve the objective problem. In addition, we also propose a joint user clustering and power allocation (JUCPA) algorithm in which the best user pair is selected as a cluster to attain a higher sum-rate. Extensive numerical results are provided to show that the proposed robust beamforming design together with the proposed JUCPA algorithm significantly increases the performance in term of sum-rate as compared with the existing NOMA schemes and the conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme.

Due to the rapidly developing computer technique, bridges can be modeled by using grillage method for analyzing the girder, or FEM for more accrute and detailed analysis. If the cells of multicellular decks are stiffened with diaphrams or cross-bracing at frequent intervals, to prevent them changing shape by distortion, the deck can be analysed like a beam if it is narrow, or like slab if it is wide. However it is often convenient and acceptable to use cellular structures and box-girders which do distort under shear and torsional loading, and it is then necessary to take account of the distortion in the method of calculation. But plane grillage method cannot cosider effect of distortion and FEM is non-economical because it is not easy to modeling and needs lots of time. So, this study suggests the Shear-flexible Grillage which reproduces the distortion behaviour of the cells.

Previous researches on scalability problem of distributed virtual environment (DVE) have been mainly focused on spatial partitioning of area of interest (AOI). Congestion phenomena by avatar groups in AOI have been neglected relatively. However, AOI congestion is highly related to scalability of DVT because it exhausts system resources such as network bandwidth and rendering time, and could be a bar to perform collaboration among participants. In this paper, this will be defined as the problem that must be solved for the realization of the scalable DVE, and a model will be proposed to measure and control congestion situation in AOI. The purposes of the proposed model are to prevent high density of participants in AOI, and to protect stable collaboration in DVE. For evaluation of the performance it is compared with a previous method by defining the resource cost model which is dynamically activated to AOI congestion.
A Battery Monitoring System capable of State-of-Charge(SOC) estimation using the Extended Kalman Filter(EKF) is described in this paper. In order to accurately estimate the SOC of the battery, the battery cells were modeled as the Thevenin equivalent circuit model. The Thevenin model's parameters were measured in experiments. For the Battery Monitoring System, we designed a battery monitoring device that can calculate the SOC estimation using the EKF and a monitoring server that controls multiple battery monitoring devices. We also develop a web-based dashboard for controlling and monitoring batteries. Especially the computation of the monitoring server could be reduced by calculating the battery SOC estimation at each Battery Monitoring Device.

In heterogeneous networks, the almost blank subframes (ABS) for inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC), which can be protected from the CCI due to unutilized subframes (i.e., ABS) is proposed. However, the analytical model for ABS-based systems has not been fully studied yet. In this paper, we derive a new analytical model to evaluate the performance of ABS-based systems. In an analytic model, we assume that each carrier in multicarrier systems, such as in OFDMA, is subject to large-scale fading, which is independent of other carriers. As a performance measure, we present the cumulative distribution function (CDF) for the effective SINR. We show the accuracy of the analytical model via simulation results.

In D2D communications underlaying a multicell network, it is of primary importance to ensure coexistence of cellular links and D2D links with minimal interference. Therefore, resource allocation scheme for D2D links should be designed to limit the interference between cellular links and D2D links. In this paper, we propose an effective resource allocation scheme for multiple D2D links which share the uplink spectrum resource with cellular users in a multicell network. Under the assumption that the locations of users are known to the base station, the proposed scheme allocates cellular resources to D2D links, such that the interference between a cellular link and multiple D2D links is minimized. In particular, we compute two constants from the path loss model and then use the constants to protect both cellular and D2D links. Simulation results are provided to verify the performance of the proposed scheme.

In this paper, the capacity of VSG-CDMA system supporting multi-media service in the reverse link is analyzed by considering the two models according to the power control and user distribution. In analysis model I, assuming perfect power control and uniform distribution of users, the equation of blocking probability is calculated and the maximum number of voice and data user is derived in accordance with 1 % blocking probability. In analysis model II, it is analyzed by assuming power control error and non-uniform distribution of users. The result of analysis model I means the upper bound of system capacity in the 5 MHz wideband VSG-CDMA system, and the result of analysis model II shows the lower bound of system capacity. Also, the improved plan of performance for VSG-CDMA system is suggested by the analyzed result according to data activity and the value of $E_b/N_o$ in model II.
