  • In this paper, a extension of a fixed-complexity sphere decoder (FSD) to perform interference signal detection and cancelling is proposed for downlink multiuser multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) communication system. It is based on the application of channel matrix expansion on generalized sphere decoder (GSD), and modification of the channel matrix ordering scheme to a FSD algorithm for interference detection. A Monte Carlo simulation shows that the proposed algorithm improves the receiver performance by 3 dB as compared to maximum likelihood detection without interference cancelling at 10% packet error rate in configuration of 702 Mbit/s datarate for four users respectively on IEEE802.11ac.

  • In this paper, we propose a distributed user scheduling with transmit power control based on the amount of generating interference to other base stations (BSs) in multi-cell multi-input multi-output (MIMO) networks. Assuming that the time-division duplexing (TDD) system is used, the interference channel from users to other cell BSs is obtained at each user. In the proposed scheduling, each user first generates a transmit beamforming vector by using singular value decompositon (SVD) over MIMO channels and reduces the transmit power if its generating interference to other BSs is larger than a predetermined threshold. Each BS selects the user with the largest effective channel gains among users, which reflects the adjusted power of users. Simulation results show that the proposed technique significantly outperforms the existing user scheduling algorithms.

  • In this paper, we propose the data stream allocation algorithms for maximizing sum capacity of downlink multiuser MIMO (Multiple-input Multiple-output) systems with BD (Block Diagonalization). The conventional BD precoding algorithms maximize the capacity by controlling power against channel gain of each user. In multiuser MIMO systems, however, the number of data streams for each user can be used to as another control parameter, which determines the capacity. This paper proposes the data stream allocation algorithm of BD for increasing capacity in multiuser MIMO systems. The proposed algorithm allocates unequal bit stream to each user based on channel matrix of each user for maximizing sum capacity. It is proved that proposed algorithm can achieve the significantly improved sum capacity by computer simulation.

  • The next generation cellular radio systems require high data rate transmission and large system capacity In order to meet these requirements, multiple antennas can be used at the base and mobile stations, forming MIMO(multiple-input, multiple-output) channels This paper considers a downlink MIMO system assuming a large number of base station antennas, a small number of mobile station antennas, and rich-scattering, quasi-stationary, and flat-fading channel environments When the channel state information is given at the base station in a single user system, a MIMO technique with SVD(singular value decomposition) and water-filling can achieve the maximal downlink channel capacity. In multi-user environments, however, SDMA(space division multiple acces) technique can be used to further increase the total channel capacity supported by the base station This paper proposes a MIMO SDMA technique which can transmit parallel data streams to each of multiple users. The proposed method. can achieve higher total channel capacity than SVD-based MIMO techniques or conventional SDMA using smart antennas.

  • We consider a linear transceiver design method for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) downlink channels where a base station (BS) equipped with a finitely large number of antennas. Although a matched-filter precoder is a capacity-achieving method in massive MIMO downlink systems, it cannot guarantee to achieve the multi-user MIMO capacity in a finitely large number of antennas due to inter-user interferences. In this paper, we propose a two-stage precoder design method that maximizes the sum-rate of cell-edge users when the BS equipped with a finitely large number of antennas. At the first stage, a matched-filter precoder is adopted to exploit both beamforming gain and the reduction of the dimension of effective channels. Then, we derive the second stage precoder that maximizes the sum-rate by minimizing the weighted mean square error (WMSE). From simulation and analysis, we verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved analysis of transmission power of BTHP applied into the downlink multi-user (MU) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. On the contrary to the conventional analysis that adopts the strong interference assumption for every users in the system, the proposed analysis approximates the characteristics of the actual interference components so that provides more accurate approximation of the transmission power than that from the conventional analysis. By computer simulations, it is observed that the proposed approximation is more accurate than the conventional one, especially in the case of 4-QAM modulation.

  • Multi-user MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) systems require collaborative PF schedulers to improve the performance of the log sum of average transmission rates. While the performance of single cell based conventional PF schedulers has been evaluated over various channel conditions, scheduling algorithms by multiple base stations which select multiple users over a given time frame and their performance require further investigations. In this paper, we apply a collaborative PF scheduler to the distributed multi-user MIMO system, which assigns radio resources to multiple users by exchanging user channel information from base stations located in three adjacent sectors. We further evaluate its performance in terms of the log sum of average transmission rates. The performance is compared to that of the full-search collaborative PF scheduler which searches over all possible combinations of user groups, and that of a parallel PF scheduler that determines users without channel information exchange among base stations. We show the log sum of average transmission rates of the collaborative PF scheduler outperforms that of the parallel PF scheduler in low percentile region. In addition, the collaborative PF scheduler exhibits a negligible performance degradation when compared to the full-search collaborative PF scheduler while a significant reduction of the computational complexity is achievable at the same time.

  • An opportunistic scheduling is adopted to improve the capacity of the system by exploiting the multiuser diversity of multiuser MIMO(MU-MIMO) systems. However it requires the large amount of feedback carrying the channel quality information(CQI) of each user to the transmitter, The considered per user unitary and rate control(PU2RC) needs to feedback the preferred preceding index and its CQIs, and it has a defect in scheduling the streams for the grouped user. In order to overcome these drawbacks, a novel feedback reduction scheme is proposed in this paper. It employs transmitter controlled preceding and opportunistic feedback(TCP-OFB). The simulation results demonstrate that TCP-OFB shows comparable performance to PU2RC while it only requires far reduced feedback load.

  • Relay has attracted great attention due to its inherent capability to extend the service coverage and combat shadowing in next generation mobile communication systems. So far, most relay technologies have been developed under the half-duplex (HD) constraint that prevents relays from transmitting and receiving at the same time. Although half-duplex relay (HDR) is easy to implement, it requires partitioning of resource for transmission and reception, reducing the whole system capacity. In this paper, we propose a multinser precoding and power control scheme with sum rate matching for a full-duplex (FD) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay. Full-duplex relay (FDR) can overcome the drawback of HDR by transmitting and receiving on the same frequency at the same time, while it is crucial to reduce the effect of self-interference that is caused by its own transmitter to its own receiver. The proposed precoding scheme cancels the self-interference of the FDR as well as to support multiuser MIMO. Moreover, we suggest a power allocation scheme for FD MIMO relay with the constraint that the sum rate of the relay's received data streams is equal to that of the relay's transmit data streams.
