The Impact of Multimodal Representation-based Lesson on Embeddedness of Multimodal Representation in High School Students' Writing (고등학생들의 글쓰기에서 나타난 다중 표상의 내재성에 미치는 다중 표상 수업의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of multimodal representation-based lesson on embeddedness of multimodal representation in high school students' writing. The participants in this study were two groups of second-year science-track students (74 students) at an academic high school in a metropolitan city. One group (41 students) was assigned to the experimental group, the other group (33 students) was assigned to the comparative group. Data analysis showed that the students of the experimental group were better at utilizing and embedding multimodal representations. Thus, the conclusion was drawn that multimodal representation-based lesson had an effect on high school students' embeddedness of multimodal representation.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of Science Writing Heuristic (SWH) on multiple representations in students' writing and to survey experimental group students' recognition about the use of multiple representations. For this study, Participants of this study were 158 students in 7th grade. 94 students were assigned to the experimental group and 64 students were assigned to the comparative group. The experimental group showed significantly higher mean score than comparative group at utilizing multiple representation in summary writing. Interview analysis indicated that all students who participated in interviews, regardless of solid multi-modal competency, recognized that use of multiple representations with appropriate explanations enable to communicate science information persuasively.

  • This paper analyzed the effect of the alliance capabilities needed for each stage of alliance lifecycle(search & negociation, contract, operation, evaluation/termination) according to the alliance life cycle of SMEs consulting firms on the performance, and the moderating effect of the partnership & entrepreneurship between the process capabilities and performance using the multi-group analysis The result shows that searching & operational capabilities have a positive impact on the customer & learning performance, not contracting and termination capabilities, and the partnership & entrepreneurship moderated between the process capabilities and alliance performance. This study shows that the operation stage in the alliance life cycle is the most important, in this process alliance partners show the higher partnership & entrepreneurship than any other stages.

  • The purpose of this study is for the students who are naturally diverse in personality and behavior in the alternative school to examine the effect of the computer subject achievement and how to increase the student's interest in learning by means of the implementation of Howard Gardener, the Multiple-Intelligence Hypothesis. To verify this study, two groups of sophomore students from an Alternative High School located in Hwasung : The Experimental group consisted of 20 students who would participate in the Computer Science program by learning or applying new skills, based on the Multiple Intelligence Hypothesis. The Comparison Group consisted of 19 students who would follow the standardized Computer Science teaching and lesson plan. During five weeks, the multiple-Intelligence effect was executed in the search groups comparing the differences of the pre-test and pro-test. Pro-test showed following results: Firstly, the experiment search group showed a higher significant improvement in the subject achievement, compared to the comparison group. Secondly, the experiment search group showed a much higher increase in the interest of learning, compared to the comparison group. Thirdly, the experiment search group did not show any differences of the social development compared to the comparison group.

Effects of Project Activities Based on Multiple Intelligences to Elementary School Children's Science Achievement (다중지능에 기초한 프로젝트 활동이 초등학교 아동의 과학 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the influences of project activities based on multiple intelligences to science achievement of elementary school children. The proportions of variance of science achievement explained by General Intelligence(GI) and Multiple Intelligences(MI) were analyzed, then the influences of project activities, which used various aspects of MI were investigated. Two classes of grade 5 at Pusan in Korea were selected for the study. On the basis of science achievement of prior term, the subjects were classified into upper-, average-, and lower-achievement groups. GI and MI were measured for each child, and the relationships of these measures with prior science achievement were analyzed using multiple regression analyses. In order to investigate the effects of the project activities on science achievement, the classes were divided into the control and experimental groups, which the former group learned science topics using the traditional teaching and learning method and the latter group performed the projects about the same topics using their own multiple intelligences. Then, their achievements were analyzed by ANOVA. Results showed that the proportion of variance explained by MI was higher about two times than that of explained by GI. Project activities contributed to the improvement of science achievement of average and upper achievers, however, in the case of under achievers, this effect was not statistically significant.

  • 본 논문에서는 햅틱 피드백과 스테레오 비쥬얼 큐를 혼합한 다중 감각 기반의 지능형 3차원 형상 분석 방법을 소개한다. 지능형 형상 분석 방법은 3차원 모델의 구조에 대한 보다 상세한 정보를 제공한다. 특히 의료 분야에 사용될 경우 전문가의 개입을 최소화하여 질병 진단 및 치료 등에 사용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는, MRI나 CT 영상으로부터 생성된 3차원 매개변수형 모델을 이용하여 유사 모델 집단을 대표하는 통계 형상을 구축한 후, SVM (Support Vector Machine) 학습 알고리즘을 이용하여 두 집단간 형상 차이를 분석한다. 3차원 형상에 대한 신속한 시각적 이해와 직관적 조작감은 물체 표면의 형상 변화를 분석하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 물체 조작 및 관찰 등의 작업을 수행할 때, 햅틱 피드백과 스테레오 비쥬얼 큐를 혼합한 인터랙션 기법을 사용하여 공간감과 깊이감을 향상시켜 형상 분석 결과를 효과적으로 분석한다. 본 연구에서는 해마, 관상 동맥, 뇌와 같은 인체 장기를 실험 데이터로 사용하여 제안한 SVM 기반의 분석 방법과 인터랙션 환경의 성능을 평가한다. 본 연구에서 구현한 SVM 기반 이진 분류기는 두 집단간 형상 차이를 효과적으로 분석하며, 또한 다중 감각 인터랙션은 사용자가 분석 결과를 관찰하고 카메라 및 형상을 효율적으로 조작하는 데 도움을 준다.

Does Depression Predict Suicide? : Gender and Age Difference in the Relationship between Depression and Suicidal Attitudes (우울이 자살을 예측하는가? : 우울과 자살태도 관계의 성별·연령 차이)

  • Previous studies indicate that depression is strongly correlated with suicide, suggesting that individuals with higher levels of depression are more likely to commit suicide. Statistical data, however, show that depression is more prevalent among females whereas suicidal incidents are much higher among males. Using the 1st Seoul Welfare Panel Data, this study aims to examine the association between depression and suicidal attitudes and further examine whether there is gender and age difference in the relationship. Sample consists of 7,396 individuals aged 18 and over. Research questions were answered through the structural equation modeling(SEM) and multi-group SEM. The results showed that (1) depression is significantly associated with suicidal attitudes, replicating the previous findings, (2) the association was much higher among males than females, suggesting that depressed males are more vulnerable to suicide than depressed females, and (3) the gender difference was primarily caused by the group of women aged 65 and over. Based on these findings, implications for theory and practice were discussed.

Precariousness and Happiness of South Korean Young Adults: The Mediating Effects of Uncertainty and Disempowerment (한국 청년의 삶의 불안정성(precariousness)과 행복: 불확실성과 통제권한 부재의 매개효과)

  • This study aims to examine the level of precariousness among young adults in South Korea and analyze the factors affecting their subjective well-being by adopting the three forms of precariousness suggested by Rodgers(1989) such as lack of resource, uncertainty and disempowerment as its analytical framework. Structural Equation Model was used for analyzing the path model of self-rated health, income level and social support(three forms of resource) affecting subjective wellbeing through uncertainty and disempowerment. Study population include young adults aged between 19 to 34 with a sample size of 415 using data of the 8th wave of the Korean General Social Survey(KGSS), 2010. Study population is divided into lower-age group (aged between 19-26) and upper-age group (aged between 27-34) in order to examine the differences between age groups by using Multiple Group Analysis. Study results show that three forms of resources, uncertainty and disempowerment had direct effect on the subjective well-being of South Korean young adults and disempowerment had the most significant effect among the factors. In addition, self-rated health and income level had indirect effect on subjective well-being through both uncertainty and disempowerment while social support had indirect effect on subjective well-being only through disempowerment. Results from the Multiple Group Analysis indicate that among the two age groups, income level only has a significant effect on subjective well-being in the upper-age group. In addition, disempowerment had greater effect on subjective wellbeing among upper-age group than the lower-age group. Based on the study results, this paper suggested policy implications and discussion for further research.

Unsupervised Image Classification Using Spatial Region Growing Segmentation and Hierarchical Clustering (공간지역확장과 계층집단연결 기법을 이용한 무감독 영상분류)

  • This study propose a image processing system of unsupervised analysis. This system integrates low-level segmentation and high-level classification. The segmentation and classification are conducted respectively with and without spatial constraints on merging by a hierarchical clustering procedure. The clustering utilizes the local mutually closest neighbors and multi-window operation of a pyramid-like structure. The proposed system has been evaluated using simulated images and applied for the LANDSATETM+ image collected from Youngin-Nungpyung area on the Korean Peninsula.

  • 기업의 지적자산을 효과적으로 관리하는 지식경영 차원에서 기업들은 디지털 시대에 부합되도록 다양한 종류의 지식을 창조해내는 디지털 창의성을 기반으로 한 지식 경쟁력 향상 방안을 요구하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 디지털창의성의 개념을 정의하고 이들에게 영향을 미치는 구성요인으로 디지털환경, 전문성영역, 디지털리스트성향을 제시하고 구성원의 다양성에 따른 디지털 창의성 변화와 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 다중 에이전트 시뮬레이션 접근방법을 사용하여 분석 하였다. 분석결과 구성원의 다양성이 높은 집단일 경우 시간의 흐름에 따라 구성원의 다양성이 낮은 집단, 즉 동질성이 높은 집단 보다 지식관리시스템 (KMS)을 이용한 지식의 생성 및 공유와 디지털창의성에 영향을 주는 강도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 전문성영역, 디지털리스트성향이 디지털 창의성에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 디지털 창의성도 경영성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 디지털 창의성과 경영성과 향상에 대한 시사점 및 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다.
