A Low-Complexity Sphere Decoding Algorithm for Generalized Spatial Modulation (일반화 공간 변조를 위한 저복잡도 구복호 수신기)

  • In this paper, an Rx-ordering aided sphere decoding algorithm for generalized spatial modulation (GSM) systems is proposed. In the proposed sphere decoding algorithm, to efficiently reduce the search region, the received signals are optimally ordered, which results in the reduction of computational complexity. To evaluate the performance and the computational complexity of the proposed Rx-ordered sphere decoding algorithm, the simulations are performed. In the simulation results, it is observed that in GSM systems, the proposed decoding algorithm achieves the same error performance with the conventional SD, whereas it efficiently decreases the computational complexity for symbol detection.

  • 본 논문에서는 안테나 당 전력제한 조건 하의 다중 입출력 빔포밍 시스템을 위한 위상 추적 코드북을 제안한다. 위상 추적 빔포밍 방식은 인접한 프레임 정보의 차이만을 활용한다는 점에서 기존의 위상 조정 방식과 차별화 되며, 궤환 정보량의 감소 이득을 얻을 수 있다. 이러한 위상 추적 코드북 구성을 위하여 위상 조정 코드북의 목적함수를 새롭게 변형하여 Lloyd-Max 알고리듬에 적용한다. 성능평가를 위하여 위상 조정 코드북과의 신호 대 잡음비의 비교 수행하며, 이를 이용하여 제안하는 코드북의 효율성을 입증한다.

  • 격자 감소 (lattice reduction) 알고리즘은 주어진 기저 벡터를 직교에 가까운 기저 벡터로 바꾸어 준다. 그중 대표적인 알고리즘으로 LLL (Lenstra, Lenstra & Lovasz) 알고리즘이 있다. 격자 감소 알고리즘을 이용하여 다중 안테나 입출력 (MIMO) 통신시스템의 선형 수신기(linear detector)의 성능을 향상 시킬 수 있다. 스피어 복호 알고리즘 (sphere decoding algorithm)은 MIMO 통신 시스템에서 사용되는 복호기중 최대 우도 복호기 (Maximum Likelihood Detector)와 비슷한 BER(bit error rate)성능을 가지고 복잡도를 줄일 수 있어서 많이 연구되어 왔다. 이때 스피어의 반지름의 설정이나 트리 검색 구조 방식 등은 복잡도에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 LLL 알고리즘에 기반하여 스피어의 반지름 설정 및 트리 검색 노드 수를 제한하는 방식으로 스피어 복호 알고리즘의 복잡도를 기존 알고리즘에 비해 크게 낮추면서도 비트 오류률 (BER) 성능 열화를 최소한으로 한 알고리즘을 제안하고 전산 실험을 통해 검증한다.

Cooperative Communication Transmission Scheme using Partially Differential Modulation (부분차등변조 방식을 이용한 협력통신 전송기법)

  • Cooperative communication, which transmit signal via arbitrary number of relays, enhances the overall communication performance by providing virtual Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) gain without imposing multiple antennal limitation in physical system. There are two representative relaying protocols, i.e., Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF), where we analyze the performance of cooperative communication by adopting DF relaying protocol applying partially differential modulation. The performance is based on symbol error rate (SER), and the effect of relay location on the performance is analyzed. We also compare the performance of the proposed scheme with the system which uses differential modulation scheme.

  • In electronic warfare, beamforming using multiple antennas is applied for effective transmission of electronic attack signals. In order to perform an electronic attack against multiple threats using the same frequency resource, it is necessary to apply a multi-beam transmission algorithm that has been studied in wireless communication systems. For electronic attacks against multiple threats, this paper presents an MMSE(Minimum Mean-Squared Error) beam-forming technique based on the prior location information of threats and an optimization method for power allocation. In addition, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated and received signals of multiple threats are compared and analyzed.

  • As the wireless communication technique is developing rapidly, the use of smart devices is increasing. Due to gradually increasing data traffic, a new area, more than 6GHz of bandwidth to increase capacity of the network, has been studied. Millimeter Wave(MmWave) communications utilizes the bandwidth above 6GHz, which makes it possible to achieve one gigabit per second data rate. To overcome the path loss due to the smaller wavelength, the mass of the antenna arrangement is used. This paper presents an algorithm that maximizes the spectral efficiency of the system in the pre-coding process using a hybrid beamforming. Also it is suggested with the optimization of the number of beams that maximizes the spectral efficiency was maximized by the propose method.

A User Detection Technique Based on Parallel Orthogonal Matching Pursuit for Large-Scale Random Access Networks (대규모 랜덤 액세스 네트워크에서 병렬 직교매칭퍼슛 기술을 이용한 사용자 검출 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a user detection technique based on parallel orthogonal matching pursuit (POMP) for uplink multi-user random access networks (RANs) with a number of users and receiver antennas. In general RANs, it is difficult to estimate the number of users simultaneously transmitting packets at the receiver because users with data send the data without grant of BS. In this paper, therefore, we modify the original POMP for the RAN and evaluate its performances through extensive computer simulations. Simulation results show that the proposed POMP can effectively detect activated users more than about 2%~8% compared with the conventional OMP in RANs.

Channel Estimation Using Virtual Pilot Signal for MIMO-OFDM Systems (MIMO-OFDM 시스템을 위한 가상 기준 신호를 이용한 채널 추정 기법)

  • In this paper, we proposed a soft decision-directed channel estimation based on MMSE estimation for MIMO-OFDM system. While the conventional method employs only pilot signals for channel estimation, the proposed algorithm performs channel estimation using pilot and reliable data signals. We also proposed selection criterion among reliable data signal for channel estimation. From numerical simulations, we show that the proposed channel estimator achieves 1 dB performance gain over conventional channel estimators.

Design and Implementation of Efficient Symbol Detector for MIMO Spatial Multiplexing Systems (MIMO 공간 다중화 시스템을 위한 효율적인 심볼 검출기의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient symbol detection algorithm for multiple-input multiple-output spatial multiplexing (MIMO-SM) systems and present its design and implementation results. By enhancing the performance of the first detected symbol which causes error propagation, the proposed algorithm achieves a considerable performance gain as compared to the conventional sorted QR decomposition (SQRD) based detection and the ordered successive detection (OSD) algorithms. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed detection algorithm is evaluated by the simulation. In case of 16QAM MIMO-SM system with 4 transmit and 4 receive ($4{\times}4$) antennas, at $BER=10^{-3}$ the proposed algorithm obtains the gai improvement of about 2.5-13.5 dB over the conventional algorithms. The proposed detection algorithm was designed in a hardware description language (HDL) and synthesized to gate-level circuits using 0.18um 1.8V CMOS standard cell library. The results show that the proposed algorithm can be implemented without increasing the hardware costs significantly.

Determination and Performance Evaluation of Codevectors Utilizing Phase Difference Distribution Characteristics of Circular Antenna Arrays (원형 안테나 배열의 위상 차이 분포 특성을 활용한 코드벡터 결정 방식 및 성능 평가)

  • Current mobile communication systems utilize the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission technique as an important means to enhance the bandwidth efficiency. Accurate beamforming via channel estimation contributes to the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) increase and the system performance improvement when MIMO transmission techniques are employed. Therefore, determination of beamforming vectors as well as the design of appropriate codebooks defining these codevectors play an important role in system operation. In this paper, we statistically analyze the phase difference between the channels corresponding to adjacent antenna elements in order to design an efficient codebook for uniform circular arrays (UCAs). We introduce new parameters which compensate for the additional phase difference observed in its probability density functions (PDFs). The performance of the proposed codebook is tested using the spatial channel model (SCM) to demonstrate its gain over the standard codebooks adopted in the long term evolution (LTE) Releases 8 and 10.
