  • The standardization of third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP) has been performed in of order to support interactive multimedia services under mobile environments. In this 3GPP, transmit diversity solutions are applied to increase the available diversity effectively using 2 or more antennas. In this paper, we analyzer the performances on STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) technique and its modified techniques such as STTD-OTD, CL-STTD, and 4TX-STTD out of open loop transmit diversities that the standardization of 3GPP has released. We also propose the open loop transmitter and receiver diversities to add the receiver diversity. We analyze and discuss the performance of the proposed techniques and using the Matlab simulation under the flat fading channel environment.

A New Space-Time Cooperative Diversity Relaying Strategy with Assistant and Management Terminals (보조 및 관리 단말을 갖는 새로운 시공간 협동 다이버시티 중계 전략)

  • A new space-time cooperative communication relaying strategy with assistant or management terminals is proposed in multi-hop wireless communication systems. More than one relaying terminals are included in one cooperative group to share the state information such as frame error rate and channel information. Among the cooperative group, the best ones are selected to send bit information using space-time codes. An implementation for the proposed scheme is also presented using a TDMA cooperative protocol. Receive signal to transmit signal ratio($E_r/E_s$) and computer simulation show the strategy outperform the conventional cooperative system.

  • In this paper, we introduce the amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative diversity with multiple relays using phase feedback. Simulation results show that the AF cooperative diversity with multiple relays using phase feedback not only provide the better performance than the direct transmission, but also obtain the diversity gain according to the number of the cooperating terminals. The performance of proposed scheme using tolerable feedback is close to optimal performance.

  • In OFDMA or SC-FDMA systems one can generate time varying channels or frequency selective channels using multiple transmit antennas to achieve diversity without special space-time processing at the receivers. While low channel coding rate needs to be used for distributed-allocation SC-FDMA systems with a phase rolling technique to produce time fluctuation, relatively high channel coding rate can be used when cyclic delay diversity is used to increase frequency selectivity assuming quasi-static channel. On the other hand, for block-hopping SC-FDMA systems there is no significant difference between two diversity techniques in terms of optimal channel coding rates.

  • In this paper, the phase noise effects of OFDM transmission diversity systems were analyzed. Since OFDM communication system is very sensitive to phase noise, the system performance may degrade seriously due to the increase of subcarrier interferences and system noise. Therefore, The phase noise model was suggested and its distribution and power were varied to investigate the effects of phase noise on the system performance. The degree of the system performance degradation depends on the specific diversity structures of transmission systems. Here, the performances of OFDM systems with two and three antennas transmission diversity were analyzed and compared with that of systems without transmission diversity as the phase noise characteristics varied.

  • 본 논문에서는 다중경로 페이딩 환경에서의 하이브리드 (Hybrid) SC/MRC-L$_{c}$/L 다이버시티 수신기법과 콘볼루션 부호화 기법을 각각 이용할 때의 광대역 DS-CDMA 시스템의 성능을 구하였다. 다중경로 페이딩으로는 라이시안 페이딩 채널을 가정하였고, 다중사용자간섭의 영향을 함께 분석하였다. 그리고 하이브리드 SC/MRC-L$_{c}$/L 다이버시티 기법과 론볼루션 부호화 기법을 채용하여 성능개선정도를 비교, 분석하였다. 하이브리드 SC/MRC-L$_{c}$/L 수신에서는 각각의 반송파에 대하여 상관을 취하고 상관기 출력들 중에서 가장 큰 신호성분을 L$_{c}$개만큼 선택하여 최대비 합성하며, 콘볼루션 부호화는 다중경로 페이딩 및 다중접속간섭에 의하여 발생된 오류를 정정 및 검출한다. 분석 결과, 콘볼루션 부호화의 경우는 부호이득과 전력제한 시스템의 trade off를 고려한 부호화율의 선택과 하이브리드 SC/MRC-L$_{c}$/L 수신의 경우, 다이버시티 가지의 증가는 선택의 폭이 커져 성능개선은 이루어지지만 가지의 배수가 동일할 경우 가지의 수가 적은 것이 시스템의 복잡성과 경제적인 면에서 효율적임을 알 수 있었다

Unproved AMC-MIMO Multiplexing Systems Using Selection Transmit Diversities (선택적 전송다이버시티를 사용한 개선된 AMC-MIMO 다중화시스템)

  • In this paper, Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is combined with Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) multiplexing to improve the throughput performance of AMC. In addition, a system that adopts Selection Transmit Diversity (STD) in the AMC-MIMO multiplexing system is proposed. The received SNR is improved by adopting STD techniques. And it increases probability of selecting MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) level that supports higher data rate. This leads to an increased throughput of the AMC-MIMO system. STD in our simulation selects 2 transmission antennas from 4 antennas and AMC-MIMO multiplexing process operates with the selected antennas. The computer simulation is performed in flat Rayleigh fading channel. The results show that the proposed system achieves a gain of 1Mbps over the AMC-MIMO multiplexing system with the same number of antennas at 15dB SNR.

Additional Diversity Gain in OFDM Systems under the Influence of IQ Imbalances (IQ 불균형에 의하여 왜곡된 OFDM 시스템에서의 다이버시티 이득 획득 기법)

  • In this paper, we analyze the IQ(In-phase/Quadrature) imbalance effects at both transmitter and receiver side of OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and show that IQ imbalance is the parameter to improve the performance using ML and OSIC scheme. Especially, we can archive the diversity gain due to the IQ imbalance in multipath fading environment. In addition, new preamble format is proposed, which enable estimation of the channel and IQ imbalance parameters to maximize the diversity gain. Significant performance improvement is achieved by using the ML(Maximum Likelihood)and OSIC(Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation) with compensation compared to a standard receiver with no compensation for IQ imbalance and proposed channel estimation scheme achieves the better performance improvement than conventional.

Design of a simple closed-loop Transmit Diversity Scheme Using Sub-carrier Grouping for ECMA-392 Systems (ECMA-392 시스템을 위한 부 반송파 그룹핑 기반 폐루프 전송 다이버시티 기법 설계)

  • ECMA-392 is the first cognitive radio (CR) specification for personal/portable devices in TV white space. It supports two transmit antennas, for which only open-loop transmit diversity schemes are included. In this paper, we design a simple closed-loop transmit diversity scheme using sub-carrier grouping for ECMA-392 systems. First, sub-carrier grouping types suitable for ECMA-392 systems are described, and then a transmit antenna selection scheme is proposed. In order to reduce feedback information, decision on the transmit antenna selection in the given channel environments is made at the receiver side and the only index of the decided transmit antenna is sent to the transmit side. Through performance comparison to open-loop transmit diversity schemes of ECMA-392, it will be shown that with only a slight feedback overhead, the proposed scheme can improve receiver performance of ECMA-392 systems.
