The purpose of this study is to provide a database for the reduction of road-kills in the Odaesan National Park. To accomplish this task, investigations were conducted on the road-kills that occurred in the period from 2003 to 2007. The results of investigations are as follows: 427 road-kill cases were reported during the period, and the road-kill victims turned out to be mostly small mammals. Among mammals and reptiles the road-kill occurrence rate of squirrels and garters was higher than that of other species, and in the case of birds, the road-kill occurrence rate of yellow-throated bunting was the highest. The road-kill accidents of mammals and reptiles took place more frequently during the summer and autumn, while those of birds during the spring and summer. The increase of road-kill occurrence rate was found to be related to the activity and breeding period of wild animals, as well as to the increase of vehicles. The occurrence rate of road-kills was also found to be influenced by the type of land use on the roadside. Furthermore, the occurrence rate increased significantly when the roads passed through dry fields.
In this study, Pteridophytes flora of Jirisan National Park were recorded 135 taxa, and they belong to 21 families, 39 genera, 123 species, 11 varieties and 1 forma. In the field, 38 taxa were not found on literature exists and 22 taxa were newly confirmed. The results obtained from this study were as follows: Deciduous (d), Evergreen (e) and Summer-deciduous (sd) were calculated as 50.0%, 46.3%, 2.2%, respectively and the Deciduous (d) has the highest value compared to the other leaf phenologies. It observed from the life-form spectra that Hemicryptophytes (H) was the most common dormancy form at 44.8%. Geophytes (G), Epiphytes (E), Hydatophytes (HH), Therophytes (Th) and Chamaephytes (Ch) were calculated at 26.1%, 10.5%, 4.5%, 0.8% and 13.4%, respectively.
In order to find out the current situation of the fauna of the mammals which inhabit Hallasan National Park, the areas of Seongpanak, Eorimok, Gwaneumsa, Yeongsil and Donnaeko were surveyed. The survey was conducted from April 2006 to January 2007 The analysis of geographical distribution revealed that there are 15 species of mammals, which belong to eight families and five orders, in which Apodemus chejuensis, Carpreolus pygargus tianschanicns, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum and Tamias sibiriricus barberi were found to be dominant species. It was also found that there exists the fauna of mammals in Mt. Halla such as Mustela sibirica quelpartis, Crocidura dsinezmi quelpartis, Micromys minutus hertigi and Sorex caecutiens hallamontanus, showing a bio-geological attribute that territorial population of taxologically geographical subspecies class exists. The fauna of the mammals in Jeju Island is rather simpler in its species composition in comparison with the inland of the Korean Peninsula ever since Jeju Island's geographical isolation from the mainland, mainly consisting of Chiroptera and small rodents.
The vegetation and plant resources of Paeaknokdam, the crater of Mt. Halla, was investigated from 1996 to 1998. The vegetation was classified into Diapensia lapponica var. obovata-Tofieldia fauriel association and Festuca ovina-Carex erythrobasis association. The latter was divided into Rhododendron mucronulatum var. ciliatum-Empetrum nigrum var. japonicum subassociation, which was composed partly of Abies koreana-Betula ermani var. saitoana variant. The plant resources of 162 taxa were composed of 49 families, 122 genera, 127 species, 2 subspecies, 30 varieties and 3 formae, of which 63 taxa were newly found in this area. Among the investigated plants, 27 taxa were endemic to Korea or Cheju islands, 39 taxa were rare or endangered, and 65 taxa were identified as alpine plants. One hundred and twenty-one taxa(75.6%) were identified to be useful: 82 for ornament, 75 for medice, 66 for food, 17 for nectar-producing, 15 for pasture, and 10 for industry.
Leptospira isolated from patients and natural paddy water were further studied to confirm their serologic specificity with the bacteria in infected animal tissue and autopsied tissue of patients died with leptospirosis. And pathologic patterns of the inoculated antimal and the virulence of the bacteria in the animals were also studied. The findings are summarized as follows; $LD_{50}$ dose of the bacteria in guinea-pig were $1-2{\times}10^9$ cells and mice were found to be susceptible to them even though the degree of susceptibilities were much inferior to guinea pig. The bacteria were recovered from various organs; demonstrated massive hemorrages due to diapedesis and monocyte infiltration were observed, in some cases, intramedullary hemorrages of the infected kidnies and hematuria were recognized. All of the hyperimmune sera were strongly reacted with the tissues from autopsied human case who died of EPHF(Epidemic Pulmonary Hemorrhagic Fever) in immunofluorescent antibody tests.
In this paper, a VR-based cyber hiking system was designed to provide virtual reality for famous mountains that can offer the real senses and feelings of hiking in supporting environmental factors of actual mountains such as the temperature, air, sound, echoes, etc., of the mountain the user wants to climb. The VR-based cyber hiking system that reflects real-time site conditions is largely consisted of the data collection module that collects data from the live site, multiple drive modules that enables the user to feel real senses using data from the sites, and sensor module to detect the stimuli provided by the drive modules and the user's physical body transition. Unlike existing VR-based hiking systems, the proposed cyber hiking system not only provides simple virtual reality for the wanted mountain, but can also provide the natural conditions of real mountains and implement the uphill and downhill of hiking routes. In particular, it has the effect of providing fun and game elements to users by excluding unnecessary conditions and risks that may arise in actual hiking and instead supporting augmented realities such as squirrels on actual hiking paths. In addition, in providing users with the changes in their body before and after hiking, it is expected to be effective in providing diverse feedback such as the height, gradient, and speed of mountain hiking.

This study characterized the spatial and seasonal patterns of light pollution in the Deogyusan National Park and examined the potential effects of light pollution on ecosystems in the park using light intensities derived from VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) DNB (Day and Night Band) nightlight images collected in January and August 2018. Results showed that the Muju Deogyusan resort had the greatest light intensity than other sources of light pollution in the park, and light intensity of the resort was much higher in January than in August, suggesting that artificial lights in ski slopes and facilities were the major source of light pollution in the park. An analysis of an urban-natural light pollution gradient along a neighboring urban area through the inside of the park indicated that light radiated from a light pollution source permeated for up to 1km into the adjacent area and contaminated the edge area of the park. Of the legally protected species whose distributions were reported in literature, four mammals (Martes flavigula, Mustela nivalis, Prionailurus bengalensis, Pteromys volans aluco), two birds (Falco subbuteo, Falco tinnunculus), and nine amphibians and reptiles (Onychodactylus koreanus, Hynobius leechii, Karsenia koreana, Rana dybowskii, Rana huanrenensis, Elaphe dione, Rhabdophis tigrinus, Gloydius ussuriensis, Gloydius saxatilis) inhabited light-polluted areas. Of those species inhabiting light-polluted areas, nocturnal species, such as Prionailurus bengalensis and Pteromys volans aluco, in particular, were vulnerable to light pollution. These results implied that protecting ecosystems from light pollution in national parks requires managing nighttime light in the parks and surrounding areas and making a plan to manage nighttime light pollution by taking into account ecological characteristics of wild animals in the parks.
The study analyzed the distribution of mammalia per altitude in Gamebong, the highest trail of Juwangsan National Park and confirmed the inhabitation of 22 different species inhabiting in the park. Starting from 200 m to 800 m above the sea level was segmented into 100 m unit. The result of analysis has shown that the Tamias sibiricus is the dominant specie throughout in all segments. Species confirmed to be inhabiting in all segments of research areas were Mustela sibirica, Caproelus pygargus and squirrel. By analyzing the confirmed Field Sign basing from the observation point, it has shown close relations between types of species and population following the increase in altitude (y=-0.0234 + 25.552, $R^2$=0.9296, $F_{0.05}$(1,4)=7.71, p<0.05). However, the result of analysis targeting nine species inhabiting in at least five out of six 100 m segmented units has shown that only two species, Apodemus sgrarius (y=-0.034X+25.2, $R^2$=0.905, $F_{0.05}$(1, 4)=38.169, p<.0.01) and Sciurus vulgaris (y=-0.0154X+ 12.819, $R^2$=0.781, $F_{0.05}$(1, 4)=14.270, p<0.05) were affected by the altitude. Therefore, it is judged that the distribution of species does not follow the altitude variation but follows the food conditions and the structure of habitat. The result of analysis of Box and Whisker Diagram had shown lowest quartile deviation($Q_U-Q_L$) in Nature Restoration Area that is located in $200{\sim}300m$ above the sea level, where hikers are prohibited from entering. In $500{\sim}600m$ above the sea level segment that has similar food environment and trail, it has shown the widest distribution. Further research is required on this segment for the excretion drops of Prionailurus bengalensis, a Grade II class of endangered species, were found on the trails.
To investigate the distribution of vascular plants growing in Mt. Taebaeksan, a survey was conducted from April, 2014 to October, 2014. The flora of Mt. Taebaeksan was classified as a total of 406 taxa comprising of 79 families, 238 genus, 352 species, 4 subspecies, 43 varieties and 7 forma. Among them, 8 taxa were identified as endemic plants in Korea including Salix koriyanagi Kimura, Aconitum pseudolaeve Nakai, Anemone koraiensis Nakai, etc. 16 taxa of Korean rare plants species were identified including 4 taxa in the degree of VU (Asplenium spinulosum (Maxim.) Milde, etc.) and 12 taxa in the degree of LC (Clematis koreana Kom., Eranthis stellata Maxim., Aristolochia manshuriensis Kom., etc.) The floristic special plants were a total of 107 taxa which consist of 3 taxa in degree V(Polypodium virginianum L., etc.), 14 taxa in degree IV(Asplenium otophorum (Miq.) Koidz., etc.), 31 taxa in degree III (Abies nephrolepis (Trautv.) Maxim., etc.), 32 taxa in degree II(Lycopodium chinense H.Christ, etc.) and 27 taxa in degree I(Dryopteris crassirhizoma Nakai, etc.). For the naturalized plants, 16 taxa were identified (Fallopia dumetorum (L.) Holub, Rumex crispus L., Cerastium glomeratum Thuill). Also, the percentage of urbanization index was 5 %, and the naturalized plant index was 3.9 % respectively.
