케로신/액체산소 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진용 산화제 과잉 예연소기 기술

  • 터보펌프 구동에 사용된 가스발생기 생성가스를 연소기로 공급하여 주추력 발생에 사용하는 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진은 고추력을 요하는 우주 발사체에 널리 사용되고 있다. 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진에 사용되는 가스발생기를 예연소기라 부르며 케로신과 액체산소를 추진제로 하는 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진에는 산화제 과잉 예연소기가 사용된다. 예연소기는 터보펌프 구동을 목적으로 하기 때문에 예연소기 생성가스의 횡단면 온도분포는 터빈에 의해 제한되는 온도범위 내에서 균일하여야 하며 넓은 운전영역에서 안정적인 연소가 이루어져야 한다. 산화제 과잉 예연소기는 모든 추진제가 혼합헤드를 통해 분사되는 방식과 추진제를 혼합헤드와 연소실로 나누어 공급하는 방식이 있다. 기술검증을 위해 산화제 일부와 연료를 혼합헤드를 통해 연소실에 공급하여 1차 연소시키고 나머지 산화제를 연소실 냉각채널을 거쳐 연소실 중앙의 분사공을 통해 연소실로 주입하여 기화시키는 형태로 최종적으로 연소압 20MPa, 혼합비 60에서 작동하는 산화제 과잉 예연소기를 설계하여 연소시험을 수행하였다. 혼합헤드에는 별도의 점화용 분사기 없이 전체 연료 분사기를 통해 점화용 연료인 TEA/TEB 혼합물을 분사하여 점화하였다. 추진제를 2단으로 공급할 수 있도록 고안된 가압식 연소시험 설비에서 10회, 누적 60초 이상의 연소시험이 성공적으로 수행되었다. 연소시험결과 넓은 작동영역에서 안정적 연소특성과 생성가스 온도 분포의 균일성을 확인할 수 있었다. 고온 고압의 산화제 과잉 예연소기 기술 확보를 통해 케로신/액체산소 다단연소 사이클 로켓엔진 개발을 위한 기술적 기반을 마련하였다.

  • A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3-D viscous flow field within vertical multi-stage centrifugal pimp including impeller with 6 blades and guide vane with 11 blades and is performed by changing flow rate from 10 to $26\;m^3/h$ at the constant 3500rpm. The purpose of this 3-D numerical simulation is to confirm how much the effect of blade inlet angle of guide vane has an influence on the performance of vertical multi-stage centrifugal pimp. these results performed by $20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$ inlet angle of guide vane are compared with grundfos performance data. The vertical multi-stage pump consist of the impeller, guide vane, and cylinder. The characteristics such as total pressure coefficient total heat shaft horse power, power efficiency, discharge coefficient are represented according to flow rate changing.

  • As a fluid machinery for piping liquid in the reactor cooling system, multi-stage centrifugal pump requires the structural dynamic stability against external dynamic excitation. This paper is concerned with the finite element analysis of its eigen behavior and seismic response to RRS(Required Response Spectrum) curves in the case of SSE (Safe Shutdown Earthquake). Through the finite element analysis, the major vibration characteristics of multi-stage centrifugal pump(MSCP) are investigated and seismic qualification based on the IEEE codes is executed. The numerical results show that the MSCP used in this study has enough seismic strength.

  • This paper presents the steady-state performance analysis of the first stage of a multistage centrifugal pump, composed of a shrouded-impeller, a vaned-diffuser and a return-channel, using the commercially available computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, ANSYS CFX. The detailed flow fields in the vaned-diffuser with outlet in its side wall and the return-channel are investigated by the CFD code adopted in the present study. The effect of the vaned-diffuser with a downstream crossover bend and the corresponding return-channel on the overall hydrodynamic performance of the first stage pump has also been demonstrated over the normal operating conditions. The predicted hydrodynamics for the diffusing components herein could provide useful information to match the inlet blade angle of the next stage impeller for improving the multistage pump performances.

  • This paper presents the hydraulic design an impeller and radial diffuser of a high-pressure multistage pump for reverse osmosis. The flow distribution and hydraulic performance for the meridional design of the impeller were analyzed numerically. Optimization was conducted based on the response surface method by varying the hub and shroud meridional curvatures, while maintaining the impeller outlet diameter, outlet width, and eye diameter constant. The analysis results of the head and efficiency with the variation in the impeller meridional profile showed that angle of the front shroud near the impeller outlet (${\varepsilon}Ds$) had the highest effect on head increase, while the hub inlet length ($d_{1i}$) and shroud curvature (Rds) had the highest effect on efficiency. From the meridional profile variation, an approximately 0.5% increase in efficiency was observed compared with the base model (case 25).

  • As the industry requiring clean vacuum condition like semiconductor and display manufacturing expands, importance of dry vacuum pumps has been increased. Screw-type dry vacuum pump, occupying major share with multi-stage roots pump in dry-pump market, has big strength specially in harsh application area accompanying serious by-product accumulation. Recently, development in screw-type pump has been focused on improving energy efficiency. In this article, technology of screw-type dry vacuum pump is reviewed and the requirement for actual industrial application is considered. In addition, the expected evolution for screw-type dry pump in near future is also described.

  • Korea Aerospace Research Institute has being developed a staged combustion cycle rocket (SCCR) engine with high specific impulse to send a 3-ton class satellite into geostationary orbit while conducted Korean Space Launch Vehicle (KSLV) II project. The SCCR engine is different from the KSLV-II engine, which is open cycle engine using a gas-generator. The SCCR engine with closed cycle is composed of a pre-burner, a turbo pump, and a main combustor. The technology demonstration model (TDM0) was assembled and tested in the 7ton-class engine combustion test facility of Naro Space Center, and the combustion test was successfully conducted. Afterward engine-shaped SCCR engine model (TDM1) is being designed and developed for the next combustion test.
