Analysis of Storage and Flood Control Effects by Underflow Type of Multi-stage Movable Weir (하단배출형 가동보의 다단 배치에 의한 저류 및 홍수조절 효과 분석)

  • The underflow type movable weirs were arranged in a multi-stage way at a section of the Chiseong River, a tributary of Geum River, where flooding is observed frequently. The flood control and the movable weir management levels were compared with the occasions of installing the existing weir for analysis. The peak discharge decreased by a maximum of 97% for the underflow type movable weir, and the downstream flood elevation decreased by a maximum of 82%. The amount of storage also increased by a maximum of 463% by the distribution and storage functions of the multi-stage arrangement of the underflow type movable weirs. It is possible to suggest that the management level of each movable weir for the target storage of the reach and the flood reduction level through the relationship among this storage, downstream peak flood elevation, and peak flow.

  • 대용량 데이터베이스로부터 순차 패턴을 발견하는 문제는 지식 발견 또는 데이터 마이닝(Data Mining) 분야에서 주요한 패턴 추출 문제이다. 순차 패턴은 추출 기법에 있어 연관 규칙의 Apriori 알고리즘과 비슷한 방식을 사용하며 그 과정에서 시퀀스는 해쉬 트리 구조를 통해 다루어 진다. 이러한 해쉬 트리 구조는 항목들의 정렬과 데이터 시퀀스의 지역성을 무시한 저장 구조로 단순 검색을 통한 다수의 복잡한 포인터 연산수행을 기반으로 한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 해쉬 트리 구조의 단정을 보완한 다단게 선형 배치 트리(MLLT, Multi-level Linear Location Tree)를 제안하고, 다단계 선형 배치 트리를 이용한 효율적인 마이닝 메소드(MLLT-Join)를 소개한다.

  • The design of multi-stage gear drives is a time-consuming process that includes additional design problems, which are not considered in the design of single-stage gear drives. In the previous research works, the authors have proposed a new algorithm to design multi-stage gear drives at the preliminary design phase. The proposed design algorithm automates the design process by integrating the dimensional design and the configuration design process. In the configuration design process, the positions of gears and shafts are determined by minimizing the geometrical volume (size) of a gearbox. However, various types of spatial constraints should be satisfied in practical design situation. To locate input and output shaft in specified positions is the typical example of such problems. In this paper, the authors show the formulations of spatial constraints applied to the design of four-stage gear drives. The design solution shows considerably good results, and the design system is confirmed to be readily applicable to practical design situation.

  • 우리나라는 하상계수가 큰 하천의 특성 때문에 년 중 일정한 하천수위를 유지하기 어렵다. 더욱이 지류하천의 중 상류는 갈수기에는 건천화가 발생하곤 하며, 홍수기에는 빠른 유속으로 하류의 홍수위를 상승시키곤 한다. 따라서 지류하천 중 상류에는 수위조절 기능을 가지는 가동보를 설치하여 저류와 분배기능을 부여하고, 수재해 예방에 활용할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 부력 승강식 가동보에 의한 수위자동조절 효과를 금강 지류인 치성천의 중 상류를 대상으로 수문학적 홍수추적 방법을 이용하여 분석하고, 성능구현을 위한 조건들을 검토하였다. 부력 승강식 가동보는 저류와 자동방류 기능으로 홍수기에는 하류의 홍수위 완화에 효과적이었으며, 다단으로 연속 배치할수록 효과는 향상되는 것으로 분석되었다.

Determination of management water level for the storage and flood controls in the underflow type of multi-stage movable weir using artificial neural network (인공신경망을 이용한 다단 배치된 하단배출형 가동보의 저류 및 홍수 조절을 위한 관리수위 결정)

  • The underflow type movable weirs were arranged in a multi-stage way along a reach at the Chiseong River, where flooding has been observed frequently. With management water level of the movable weirs the control effects of storage and flood were suggested and the control effects were compared with those of existed weir system. The water level for the targeted storage and flood elevation was suggested by building the artificial neural network model. When the underflow type of movable weirs were arranged in a multi-stage way, the peak flood elevation decreased by 68.28% in the downstream compared with the existed weir system, and the total storage of the target section of multi-stage movable weirs increased by 216%. As a result of numerical simulation to build the artificial neural network model, 60%, 20%, and 20% among 216 data were used for the training, validation, and test, respectively. The training result of mean square error was $0.1681m^2$ and the high coefficients of determination were 0.9961, 0.9967, and 0.9943 in the training, validation, and test, respectively. As a result the water level management of each movable weir for the controls of flood elevation in the targeted downstream and targeted storage was suggested by using the artificial neural network.

  • Recently as the application of gear drive increases in high-speed and high-loading, the concern of designing multi-stage gear drive is being risen. Until now however, the research of gear drive is focused on single-stage gear drive and the design depends on experiences and know-how of designer and is carried out by trial and error. This research automated the basic design and the configuration design for two and three-stage gear drives which consist of cylindrical gears. In basic design, design is executed with two design processes, which minimize the overall volume of gear, and whose results are compared each other. In configuration design, the positions of gears are determined to minimize the volume of gearbox using the result of basic design and simulated annealing algorithm.

  • 기존의 고정보 설치에 따른 문제점으로 보 상류의 유속감소로 인한 유사나 오니의 퇴적으로 저류량의 감소, 홍수위 상승, 수질악화, 보 상 하류간 연속성의 단절 등의 개선을 위한 연직가동보에서의 수리특성을 분석하였다. 그에 따라 본 연구에서는 gate의 개도 높이를 조절함으로써 하상 퇴적물을 배출하고 수위와 유량을 조절할 수 있는 하단배출형 가동보를 길이 10 m, 폭 0.4 m, 높이 0.4 m의 가변경사식 수로에 다단식으로 배치하여 유량과 가동보 개도 높이에 따른 수리 특성을 분석하였다. 연직가동보의 개도에 따른 방류량의 수리특성으로 유량계수를 분석하고 그에 따른 보 상류에서 저류특성을 분석하였다. 유량과 연직가동보의 개도에 따른 수리특성으로 도수현상에 따른 수축계수, 도수길이, 도수높이를 분석하고 그에 따른 관계식을 제시하였다. 연직가동보 주변의 수리특성의 분석을 위한 차원해석을 실시하고 지배적인 무차원 변수를 도출하였다.

  • In recent years the concern of designing multi-stage gear drives increases with the more application of gear drives in high-speed and high-load. until now however research on the gear drive design has been focused on single gear pairs and the design has been depended on experiences and know-how of designers and carried out commonly by trial and error. We propose the automation of the dimensional design of gears and the configuration design for gear arrangement of two-and three-stage cylindrical gear drives. The dimensional design is divided into two types of design processes to determine the dimensions of gears. The first design process(Process I) uses the total volume of gears to determine gear ratio and uses K factor unit load and aspect ratio to determine gear dimensions. The second one(Process II) makes use of Niemann's formula and center distance to calculate gear ratio and dimensions. Process I and II employ material data from AGMA and ISO standards respectively. The configuration design determines the positions of gears to minimize the volume of gearbox by simulated annealing algorithm. Finally the availability of the design algorithm is validated by the design examples of two-and three-stage gear drives.

  • Recently, the need for designing multi-stage gear drive has been increased as the hear drives are used more in the applications with high-speed and small volume. The design of multi-stage gear drives includes not only dimensional design but also configuration design of various machine elements. Until now, however, the researches on the design of gear drives are mainly focused on the single-stage gear drives and the design practices for multi-stage gear drives, especially in configuration design activity, mainly depend on the experiences and 'sense' of the designer by trial and error. We propose a design algorithm to automate the dimension design and the configuration design of multi-stage gear drives. The design process consists of four steps. The number of stage should be determined in the first step. In second step, the gear ratios of each reduction stage are determined using random search, and the ratios are basic input for the dimension design of gears, which is performed by the exhaustive search in third step. The designs of gears are guaranteed by the pitting resistance and bending strength rating practices by AGMA rating formulas. In configuration design, the positions of gears are determined to minimize the volume of gearbox using simulated annealing algorithm. The effectiveness of the algorithm is assured by the design example of a 4-stage gear drive.

  • The gas hold-up has a strong relationship with the size distribution and rising velocities of bubbles in a bubble column. Therefore, many previous researchers have studied on the hydrodynamics focusing on the bubble size variation in bubble column. In this study, the bubble behavior was influenced by partitioning porous plates installed at a certain height in a trayed bubble column. The gas hold-up was increased in non-sparging region (H/D > 5) as well as sparging region. We identified the effect of the partitioning porous plate using three trayed bubble columns with different reactor geometries. Furthermore, the bubble break-up frequency and size distribution were observed before and after individual bubbles penetrated through the plate. The arrangement of the plates was also investigated using a 0.15-m-in-diameter bubble column. Based on the result, we applied this design concept to a 0.36-m-in-diameter, 22 m tall trayed bubble column and identified the effect of the partitioning porous plate on the gas hold-up increase.
