  • In this paper, we propose and apply new classification method to the remotely sensed image acquired from airborne multi-spectral scanner. This is a neuro-fuzzy image classifier derived from the generic model of a 3-layer fuzzy perceptron. We implement a classification software system with the proposed method for land cover image classification. Comparisons with the proposed and maximum-likelihood classifiers are also presented. The results show that the neuro-fuzzy classification method classifies more accurately than the maximum likelihood method. In comparing the maximum-likelihood classification map with the neuro-fuzzy classification map, it is apparent that there is more different as amount as 7.96% in the overall accuracy. Most of the differences are in the "Building" and "Pine tree", for which the neuro-fuzzy classifier was considerably more accurate. However, the "Bare soil" is classified more correctly with the maximum-likelihood classifier rather than the neuro-fuzzy classifier.

  • In this paper, we propose a compliance control scheme using a neurofuzzzy compliance model(NFCM). as a new control paradigm for telerobot systems. A NFCM, used as a compliance controller, is composed of a fuzzy compliance model(FCM), a neural network and a low pass filter. The NFCM is trained through a reinforcement learning algorithm, and then, can generate suitable compliant motion for a given task. A series of simulations have been performed to show applicability of the proposed algorithm send it is found that the NFCM can implement suitable compliant motion for a given task through the learning procedure.

  • Trend Impact Analysis(: TIA) is an advanced forecasting tool used in futures studies for identifying, understanding and analyzing the consequences of unprecedented events on future trends. An adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system is a kind of artificial neural network that integrates both neural networks and fuzzy logic principles, It is considered to be a universal estimator. In this paper, we propose an advanced mechanism to generate more justifiable estimates to the probability of occurrence of an unprecedented event as a function of time with different degrees of severity using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(: ANFIS). The key idea of the paper is to enhance the generic process of reasoning with fuzzy logic and neural network by adding the additional step of attributes simulation, as unprecedented events do not occur all of a sudden but rather their occurrence is affected by change in the values of a set of attributes. An ANFIS approach is used to identify the occurrence and severity of an event, depending on the values of its trigger attributes. The trigger attributes can be calculated by a stochastic dynamic model; then different scenarios are generated using Monte-Carlo simulation. To compare the proposed method, a simple simulation is provided concerning the impact of river basin drought on the annual flow of water into a lake.

  • In this paper, it could improved on the arbitrary nonlinear function learning approximation which have the wavelet neural network based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS) and the multi-resolution Analysis(MRA) of the wavelet transform. ANFIS structure is composed of a bell type fuzzy membership function, and the wavelet neural network structure become composed of the forward algorithm and the backpropagation neural network algorithm. This wavelet composition has a single size, and it is used the backpropagation algorithm for learning of the wavelet neural network based on ANFIS. It is confirmed to be improved the wavelet base number decrease and the convergence speed performances of the wavelet neural network based on ANFIS Model which is using the wavelet translation parameter learning and bell type membership function of ANFIS than the conventional algorithm from 1 dimension and 2 dimension functions.

  • A concentration meter is widely used at purification plants, sewage treatment plants and waste water treatment plants to sort and transfer high concentration sludge and to control the amount of chemical dosage. When the strange substance is contained in the sludge, however, the attenuation of ultrasonic wave could be increased or not be transmitted to the receiver. At that case, the value of concentration meter is higher than the actual density value or vibrated up and down. It has also been difficult to automate the residuals treatment process according to the problems as sludge attachment or damage of a sensor. Multi-beam ultrasonic concentration meter has been developed to solve these problems, but the failure of the ultrasonic beam of a specific concentration measurement value degrade the performance of the entire system. This paper proposes the method to improve the accuracy of sludge concentration rate by choosing reliable sensor values and learning them by proposed algorithm. The prediction algorithm is chosen as neuro-fuzzy model, which is tested by the various experiments.

  • On-site diagnosis of chiller performance is an essential step for energy saving business. The main purpose of the on-site diagnosis is to predict the COP of a target chiller. Many models based on thermodynamics background have been proposed for the purpose. However, they have to be modified from chiller to chiller and require deep insight into thermodynamics that most of field engineers are often lacking in. This study focuses on developing an easy-to-use diagnostic technique that is based on adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Quality of the training data for ANFIS, sampled over June through September, is assessed by checking COP prediction errors. The architecture of the ANFIS, its error bounds, and collection of training data are described in detail.

  • To date, many viable smart base isolation systems have been proposed and investigated. In this study, a novel friction pendulum system (FPS) and an MR damper are employed as the isolator and supplemental damping device, respectively, of the smart base isolation system. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is used to modulate the MR damper because the FLC has an inherent robustness and ability to handle non linearities and uncertainties. A genetic algorithm (GA) is used for optimization of the FLC. The main purpose of employing a GA is to determine appropriate fuzzy control rules as well to adjust parameters of the membership functions. To this end, a GA with a local improvement mechanism is applied. This method is efficient in improving local portions of chromosomes. Neuro fuzzy models are used to represent dynamic behavior of the MR damper and FPS. Effectiveness of the proposed method for optimal design of the FLC is judged based on computed responses to several historical earthquakes. It has been shown that the proposed method can find optimal fuzzy rules and the GA optimized FLC outperforms not only a passive control strategy but also a human designed FLC and a conventional semi active control algorithm.

  • Due to the increasing of power consumption, it is difficult to construct accurate prediction model for daily peak power demand. It is very important work to know power demand in next day for manager and control power system. In this research, we develop a daily peak power demand prediction method based on hybrid type composed of AR and Neuro-Fuzzy model. Using data sets between 2006 and 2010 in Korea, the proposed method has been intensively tested. As the prediction results, we confirm that the proposed method makes it possible to effective estimate daily peak power demand than conventional methods.

  • Aging and severe environments are major causes of damage in reinforced concrete (RC) structures such as buildings and bridges. Deterioration such as concrete cracks, corrosion of steel, and deformation of structural members can significantly degrade the structural performance and safety. Therefore, effective and easy-to-use methods are desired for repairing and strengthening such concrete structures. Various methods for strengthening and rehabilitation of RC structures have been developed in the past several decades. Recently, FRP composite materials have emerged as a cost-effective alternative to the conventional materials for repairing, strengthening, and retrofitting deteriorating/deficient concrete structures, by externally bonding FRP laminates to concrete structural members. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) in predicting behavior of circular type concrete column retrofitted with FRP. To construct training and testing dataset, experiment results for the specimens which have different retrofit profile are used. Retrofit ratio, strength of existing concrete, thickness, number of layer, stiffness, ultimate strength of fiber and size of specimens are selected as input parameters to predict strength, strain, and stiffness of post-yielding modulus. These proposed ANFIS models show reliable increased accuracy in predicting constitutive properties of concrete retrofitted by FRP, compared to the constitutive models suggested by other researchers.
