Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between uncertainty of chronic diseases and quality of life with regard to elderly people. Methods : The participants of this study were 350 elderly people, aged over 65 years. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS Window program and the general characteristics of the participants and sub-domains of quality of life were analyzed by several frequency analyses and descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis. Further, the differences between the sub-domains of uncertainty and sub-domains of quality of life were analyzed through independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. In order to reach conclusive results, post-test was analyzed by the Scheffe test. In addition, Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to determine the correlation between the target categories. A significance level of 𝛼=.05 was used to verify statistical significance. Results : As a result of examining "uncertainty" with respect to general characteristics, such as older age, low educational background, and chronic diseases, it was observed that the more intense these factors became, the more the level of uncertainty increased. In addition, it was also noted that except "accompanying diseases" in social domain, the participants enjoyed a high level of quality of life. The correlation was noted between domains of complexity and sociality (p<.01), domains of inconsistency and sociality (p<.01), domains of complexity and living environment (p<.01), domains of inconsistency and living environment (p<.01), and total score of uncertainty and total quality of life (p<.01). Conclusion : In this study, differences were found between "uncertainty" and "quality of life" of elderly people; the correlation between the sub-domains based on general traits was found to be negative (-). This suggests that objective evidence can be presented for the prevention of diseases by using mental health programs for the elderly in future.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was two-fold: to investigate the effects of uncertainty and depression on the quality of life (QoL) of elderly people with chronic diseases and to provide basic data on the physical, emotional, and psychological factors affecting their QoL in the field of physical therapy. Methods : A questionnaire covering uncertainty, depression, and QoL was distributed among 320 elderly people. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to examine the correlation between uncertainty (ambiguity, complexity, inconsistency, and unpredictability), depression, and QoL (physical, psychological, social, and living environment domains) of the respondents; furthermore, multiple regression analysis was performed to identify the factors affecting the QoL of the respondents with a chronic disease. Results : The sub-factors of uncertainty and QoL-"complexity and social domain" (r=-.295, p<.001), "complexity and living environment domain" (r=-.302, p<.001), and "inconsistency and living environment domain" (r=-.360, p<.001)-showed a negative (-) correlation, as did depression and the sub-factors of QoL-"depression and physical domain" (r=-.782, p<.001), "depression and psychological domain" (r=-.876, p<.001), "depression and social domain" (r=-.668, p<.001), and "depression and living environment domain" (r=-.731, p<.001). The factors affecting QoL were complexity (𝛽=-.122, p<.001), inconsistency (𝛽=-.102, p=.002), unpredictability (𝛽=.112, p<.001), and depression (𝛽=-.850, p<.001). The relative influence of the independent variables was in the order of depression, complexity, unpredictability, and inconsistency, and the explanatory power was 77.1 % (F=215.853, p<.001). Conclusion : It is important to help the elderly with chronic diseases reduce the negative impact on their quality of life by helping them gain support from their families and medical professionals and by increasing their understanding through communication so that they can transition from negative emotions to positive emotions of opportunity.

Red ginseng (RG) contains specific ginsenosides (Rg2, Rg3) which show various pharmacological effects and absorption rate in the body better than panax ginseng. Therefore many people have been used it for health for a long time. Furthermore, many researchers have been studying its biological activities for a long times because fermentation generates lots of beneficial small molecules good for health. In this study, we fermented red ginseng with mycelium of Leatiporus sulphures var. miniatus for 7 days. As a result, we found that three ginsenosides Rg1, Re and Rb2 were decreased from 0.24, 0.25, 0.16 mg/g to 0.12, 0.1, 0.03 mg/g respectively HPLC analysis. In addition, we studied biological activities of fermented red ginseng (FRG) about skin ageing such as anti-inflammation, cell migration, anti-oxidation, collagen type 1 synthesis, and MMP-1 inhibition activities. As a result, FRG were shown higher anti-inflammatory and cell migration promoting activities than RG. FRG inhibited production of nitric oxide (NO) and mRNA expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and decreased interleukin (IL)-6 induced by LPS stimulation in RAW 264.7 cells. In conclusion, this study suggest that FRG could be a potential source as a new natural anti-inflammatory agent.

환경운동 10년의 결과 '생태적 감수성'이라는 '감성영역'이 새롭게 개발되고 보편화 되었으며, 녹색소비의 정신이 확산되고, '환경'은 늘 관심을 기울어야 하는 '문제영역'으로 설정될 수 있었다. 이는 환경교육에도 확산되어, 녹색소비 운동과 관리주의적 실천은 이제 보편화되었다. 지방정부에서 '의제21'을 채택하여 개발연대에 직강화된 '도시하천'의 생태적 복원이 활발하게 진행중이고, 초중고교의 '녹색화' 사업이 생태숲이나 생태연못 등등의 명칭하에 진행중이다. 한편 '환경교육진흥법'은 아직 계류중이긴 하나, 경기도와 같이 지방정부 수준에서 체험적 생태교육 시설을 정책적으로 확장해 나가고자 하는 흐름도 있다. 또한 1999년의 동강댐 반대투쟁, 2003년과 2004년의 새만금 저지투쟁과 부안항쟁을 거치면서 생명의 소중함에 대한 인식은 이제 '생명권' 개념의 확산을 앞두고 있을 정도로 보편화되고 있다. 그리고 이는 생태적 감수성을 함양하는 '체험 환경교육'의 보편화로 나타나고 있다. 하지만 교과교육으로서의 환경교육과 체험학습 영역의 환경교육은 '접점'을 찾지 못하고 있다. 한편으로 온 나라를 떠들썩하게 만드는 '환경갈등'에 대하여 그것의 '뿌리'를 완전히 뽑아내는 방식의 '재발 방지' 정치적 성과는 제대로 축적되고 있지 못하며, 환경교육은 '환경갈등'의 정치경제적 속성을 정면으로 응시하고 있지 못하다. 2004년의 환생교사업방향중 하나가 '사회적 실천'을 강조하는 흐름이었던 것은 바로 이와 같은 사정을 반영한다. '생태적 감수성'은 실천이라기 보다 안주와 '누림'의 영역으로 되기 십상이었기에 그러하며 실제로 상품화된 '생태기행'의 등장은 그런 맥락에서 이해된다. 그럼에도 이는 10년전 '군사문화'가 우리안에 살아있던 것에 비하면 분명 큰 진전이다. 군사훈련식의 수련활동이 생명과 생태에 대한 감수성을 일깨우는 '생태적 감수성' 함양으로 전환된 것이 단적인 경우이다. 이제 이러한 성과를 토대로 이후 학교환경교육 10년을 전망할 수 있어야 하겠다. 필자는 그 화두를 '환경정의'와 '생태적 합리성'에서 찾고자 한다. 생태적 감수성 키우기가 상업화 단계에 이를 정도로 보편화되었다면, 이를 바탕으로 '생태적 합리성'이라는 체계적인 지식교육을 거쳐서, '환경정의' 의식의 제고로 이어가고, 굵직한 '환경갈등'의 상황에서 뚜렷한 정치적 태도와 실천을 할 수 있는 '생태적 인간상'의 육성으로 나아갈 수 있어야 한다는 것이 필자의 생각이다. 이를 위해서는 어찌되었건 체험학습 영역에서는 환경현안에 대한 사회적 실천을 '교육 소재'로 삼을 수 있어야 하며, 교과학습 영역에서는 한국사회의 환경현안에 대한 정치경제적 접근을 외면하지 말고 교과서 저작의 소재로 삼을 수 있어야 하며, 이는 '환경관리주의'와 '녹색소비'에 머물러 있는 '환경 지식교육'과 실천을 한단계 진전시키는 작업으로 이어질 것이다. 이후 10년의 환경교육은 바로 '생태적 합리성'과 '환경정의'라는 두 '화두'에 터하여 세워져야 한다.

The aim of this study is to investigate whether library public forums, which are conducted as a part of the library's information services, affect users' perception of libraries. We analyzed the variations in users' perception of libraries based on their participation in public forums held by the public libraries. Data was collected through a survey of users from the Seongbuk Public Libraries in Seoul, which hold public forums. It was discovered that users' perception of public libraries varied depending on whether they had attended the library's public forums or not. The study revealed that users who participated in library public forums had a better understanding of the public libraries compared to those who did not. Specifically, users who participated in public forums exhibited a deeper comprehension of the library's roles, higher trust in the library, and a greater willingness to visit the library. In addition, we found that users acknowledged the importance of public forums in libraries and expressed a high level of interest and willingness to participate in them. Based on these findings, we discussed the implications of library public forums on users' perception of libraries and highlighted the need for information services that are based on public forums.

The research was undertaken to explore the role of the public library as a public sphere. For this, the characteristics and meanings of the library's role were examined by analyzing the public spheres operated by the public library. Data were collected through interviews with librarians at Seongbuk Public Libraries in Seoul. Data collected were coded using NVivo for thematic analysis. As a result of the study, the characteristics and meanings of the library's role in the public sphere were identified in the following five types; 1) A place for meeting, communication and interaction of citizens, 2) Supporting citizen learning and growth through information services and discussion on the subject, 3) Expanding civic participation in the community and strengthen civic power, 4) Strengthening citizens' experience of democracy, 5) Improving citizens' perception of libraries and expanding the library's influence on citizens. In particular, it was found that information services enhance citizen interaction and spread of public opinion on the agenda. The results of this study can be used as a basis for developing and supporting libraries as community public spheres.

Genre paintings, which describes the lives of ordinary people, has lifestyle and Pungnyu of our ancestors. Pungnyu is aesthetic consciousness and a way of lives. The culture of Pungnyu is a kind of art boundary that combines high spirits and art. The Pungnyu is an icon of Korean culture, realization of taste, and happens through "stroll", which means the walking peacefully, and "sightsee", which means go sightseeing. It shows through the rambling and the excursion. Hyewon's 'Jeonsincheob'('傳神帖', a kind of spirit transferred drawings book) is a genre painting which represents Pungnyu and shows various activities at that time. Therefore, we can understand our own spirit and soul through appreciating his paintings. Hyewon's 「Jeonsincheob」 has three special features. Firstly, it is the symbol of Korea traditional Pungnyu. Secondly, it contributes to development of the East art. Lastly, Hyewon's 「Jeonsincheob」 can be considered in terms of glocalism, which means the combination of globalization and localization and can be explained by the relation of the center=the periphery, the globalization=the Korean wave, the universality=the particularity. Hyewon's 'Jeonsincheob' has aesthetic boundaries. One aims at individual pleasure. Another aims at harmony with its natural environment in which you are. Also, it can be considered as the boundaries of enjoying together which aims at harmony with social environment among group members.
