Following the development of economy and progress of the society, the problem of aging population appears. In 1999, China had been classified as "aging society" and aging of population has become a serious social issue that affects the economic growth and social stability. And one of the crux issue is the dwelling of aged people. As a cosmopolitan city, Beijing keeps leading position on residential development. But facing grim problem of ageing population, and the problem of the elderly living has not been solved yet. At the beginning of 21 Century, the first aged community(Oriental Sun City) was built in Beijing, and attracted a large number of old people to move in. But there are many problems in the process of design and construction since there is not much correlative researches for planning and design of aged communities. With a view to aged communities in Beijing, this thesis intends to research on the planning and design of aged communities. This thesis will give reference to help the programming and design of aged communities.

This study is to grasp the vulnerable families selected by the laws and qualification criteria on housing reformation and repair project of the Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs, the procedures of housing improvement projects, and the roles of superintendents, focusing on rural living and housing environment improvement. After the regional characters, housing style and structure of the recipients (the selected vulnerable families), and construction companies were closely examined by items and year, the results and problems of housing reformation and repair were diagnosed, compared and analyzed. On the basis of the results, the overall guidelines and directions of housing environment improvement for vulnerable families were suggested. Hopefully, these suggestions will be helpful for the kind of project in the future.

The housing environment improvement of the middle size cities is getting emphasized due to the decentralization. But, the way to improve the housing environment should be in progress without any consideration for citizen's lives or their own culture. Especially, in rural village, government has continually made political supports but extremely skeptical about the result, that is, they made improvement on living environment but failure in the living quality. This institute intends to find out cultural elements of traditional architecture are. Tradition has to make effects on the present age. It has to have great influence on the entire housing environment in addition to each architecture.

The purpose of this study is to recognize the living space and life pattern transition which is expressed in the modernization course with the analysis of the Jeju rural houses. For this study, I choose 72 residences examples in 8 villages as the subjects which are changed by the spontaneous purpose of the inhabitants who live in Jeju area were chosen as the subjects. As for the research method, after visiting the subject residence directly, and the field study such as the actual estimation, observation and interview were performed.The conclusion of the study with these purpose are as follows. First, The opened spatial composition of the sitting-inclination is composed of the form which has the individual opened room and living room with the mechanism to grant the flexibility to the limited space and the structure for enduring the much-humid oceanic climate. Second, The life pattern shows the sitting life which usually uses the an-bang and living room with the seasonal change.

This study deals with the analysis of how the residential space of the farmhouses which were recently built by farmer's free intent with the help of a person who is related with architecture was changed. So that this study is aimed at grasping how the spatial structure of recent farmhouses in the southern part of Yongdong area continues to be kept and changed according to the modernization and urbanization. Also it includes grasping the trend of spatial transformation and constancy about the recent farmhouses through the analysis of living elements as well as the extension, renewal and rehabilitation of residential space.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic information on the rural house planning through the research on the use of the standard plans, architectural characteristics, importance of the planning points and housing satisfaction of the residents. 25 rural households scattered around Chungchong provinces-south and north- were surveyed for this study through the questionnaire method. The results of this study were as follows. The importance considered first was the low construction costs, and therefore the standard plans were not fully acknowledged and commonly used. Most real plans are the single-floor houses with 3 rooms, having 25-30 pyong magnitude. The planning points stressed highly were the storage space, convenience of the plan and size of the living room. Housing satisfaction level was high on direction of the facade, size of the living room and position of the bath/washing room, but low for the storage space.

The rural traditional houses in Taebaek mountainous regions play important roles in figuring out values and social aspects of past time including housing life. But due to the introduction of convenient facilities in the current housing life style after industrialized society, many transformations have been taken place even to exist rural traditional folk houses such as installation of new equipment and furniture, the arrangement and function change of rooms, expansion of residential area and etc. So this study aims to secure basic data to prepare installation standard of the convenient facilities as examining convenience facility installation status of the cultural asset designated as rural traditional house, and to identify the meaning and usage of major room of rural traditional houses in order to prepare the proper balances between its original form preservation and residents' convenience living.

This study is about land use and site plan for resident redevelopment for districts with existing residents. The study suggests development direction focusing on preserving the regional characteristics, and presentation of suburban-style housing complex reflecting on the future tenant's individuality and demand. The preexisting development approach for suburban-style housing complex which was planned by the developer, failed to recognize taste of the future tenants. Profitability being the priority, it also resulted in a serious environmental disruption. In this development however, through a systematic direction for site development and site analysis, conducting surveys through future tenants, attempted for a continuous growth of the community. The study is presented covering the following areas; site's pathway system, nature conservation plan, lot plan, land use and arrangement plan, and community facility.

In this paper, it was studied and analyzed how the project for improvement of rural housing environment has filled the resident's requirements relative to characteristics of a rural environment, temporal and social requirements and so on. The project for improvement of rural housing environment has been executed in a few way : the rural housing environment, the development of territories for settlement, the development of a desolate region, composition of villages. To analyze and assess the accomplishments, it was considered codes and process relative to the project for improvement of rural housing environment and was analyzed present conditions and problems, through many reference books and administrative datas. 126 of residents in Chongwon county were carried out for researchs with questionaires. This study includes basic life conditions, status for improvement of rural housing environment, degrees of resident's satisfactions and so on.

According as the elderly population has been increasing in rural areas, Korea will be facing a serious elderly problem in the near future. To cope with the coming elderly problem, social welfare services and elderly housing need to be carefully prepared. Especially, elderly housing has been recognized to be promising to solve the great portion of the problem. Therefore, I try, in this study, to show the theoretical bases on the residential environment for the elderly households, and to survey and analyze the residential environment and consciousness of them in rural areas. The result of this study will be expected to be a reference to the housing planning for the elderly household in rural areas.
