앞으로의 시장개방속도나 국내의 유통구조로 보아 우리 농업이 살아남기 위해 농민들은 '하나로' 협동해야 한다. 개인 농민이나 지역단위조합의 노력으로는 다가오는 시장개방에서 결코 살아남을 수가 없고, 거대 유통업체들의 '횡포'를 견뎌낼 수 없다. 또한, 시장은 우리의 복잡하고 어려운 내부사정 때문에 대응이 늦다하여 조금도 우리를 봐주지 않을 것이다. 우리는 주어진 시간 내에 농민들의 '진정한 협동' 을 위한 농협개혁을 반드시 실현해내야 한다. 우리가 실현해야할 장기적인 개혁목표를 명확히 하고, 하나하나 단계적으로 쉬지 않고 실현해가야 한다.

혹자는 2005년 한해가 우리 농업계에서는 잊고 싶은 한해였다라고 말하기도 한다. 우리 농업의 근간인 쌀이 개방되면서 350만 농민들이 깊은 한숨을 내쉬었다. 이로 인해 국회가 있는 여의도는 물론 전국 방방곡곡에 농민들의 분노가 하늘을 찔렀다. 농민단체 대표자들은 단식농성으로, 농민들은 지구당 및 농협점거, 나락적재 투쟁 등을 진행하며 농업의 근본적인 회생을 위한 대책수립을 촉구했으나, 정부는 이를 애써 외면하고 단기적 처방만을 내놓았다. 쌀 개방뿐만 아니라, FTA, 미국산 쇠고기 수입 문제, 학교급식 조례제정 폐소 등 다사다난했던 한해였다. 한농연은 정부와 정치권에 근본적인 농업회생 대책 수립을 강력히 촉구하는 활동을 벌였으며, 여러 농업 현안들에 대해 탄력있게 대응하기 위해 분주한 1년을 보냈다. 2005년 을유년 한해 한농연 활동을 간략히 되돌아본다.

금년 9월 1일부터 농산물에 대한 농약잔류허용기준이 엄격히 적용된다. 보사부에 따르면 쌀$\cdot$보리$\cdot$옥수수등 28개 농산물에 17개 농약성분의 잔류량이 허용기준을 초과했을 경우 이제까지는 해당농산물을 타용도전환 또는 폐기수거처분만 해왔으나 9월 1일부터는 해당 농산물을 생산한 농민에게 최고 3년 이하의 징역 또는 1천만원 이하의 벌금을 물린다는 것이다. 이같은 농약잔류허용기준 실시를 앞두고, 지난 7월 23일 농민신문사 주최로 농민신문사 회의실에서 가진 좌담회를 통해, 농민들은 농약을 어떻게 사용해야 잔류허용기준치 초과로 인한 불이익을 막을 수 있으며, 이 제도는 어떻게 시행되는지, 또 시행상의 문제점은 무엇인지 등을 알아본다.

농업은 종합과학이며 가장 기술집약적인 산업이다. 동시에 농업은 국민들의 생명산업이며 이러한 산업에 종사하는 농민들은 단순한 근로자가 아니라 기술자인 동시에 경영자이자 실천자인 것이다.

This study aims to identify the factors influencing the perofrmance of agricultural projects for small farmers in Malawi. This cross-sectional study was conducted to discover the factors behind the slow performance of agricultural projects in alleviating poverty. The research was conducted in the Karonga and Phalombe Districts in the northern and southern parts of Malawi, respectively. The data were collected through a structured questionnaire survey administered to 82 agriculture extension workers, and a multiple regression analysis was conducted. The results indicated that farmers' socioeconomic factors, including high illiteracy and poverty rates, poor participation regarding project implementation, and high dependency syndrome, significantly affected the performance of agricultural projects. Within the projects them selves, this study discovered that there was no consistent flow of funds. This greatly affected the schedule of project activities, thereby compromising performance. The study recommends that the government and all relevant stakeholders work jointly to alleviate poverty. It is especially important to ensure that smallholder farmers are equipped with self-help capabilities. In addition, it is critical to examine the issues of funding disbursement.

To find the association, between vinyl house work and the prevalence of low back pain, a questionnaire survey was made toward 215 vinyl house farmers and 228 general farmers without vinyl house who are cared by Jungjung Community health Practioners at Soobuk Myun, Damyang-gun, Chollanamdo. 1. Vinyl house farmers were significantly younger in age, higher in educational status higher survival rate of spouse, higher economic state and less cared by medical aid than general farmers. 2. Vinyl house farmers showed shorter career for agricultural work, used modern farming instrument more frequently and worked with sitting position. 3. During unbusy season in general agriculture, vinyl house farmers consumed significantly more time in agricultural work and general activity, but no significant difference of time of the above activity among busy season. 4. During the last spring season when most vinyl house work was performed, vinyl house farmers showed significantly higher prevalence of low back pain than general farmers, but no significant difference of prevalence among the two groups for the last one week. 5. By the simple analysis statistical significant related variables with low back pain was found to be sex(p<0.001), educational status(p<0.05), work posture(p<0.001) and use of modern agricultural machine(p<0.05). 6. By the multiple logistic regression the odds ratio for low back pain among vinyl house farmers were 2.08(95% confidence interval 1.31-3.00) compared to general farmers, the odds ratio among female was 2.35(95% confidence interval 1.24-4.47) to male, the odds ratio among illiterate persons were 2.60(95% confidence interval 1.24-4.47) to high school graduate, and the odds ration among primary school graduate was 2.19(95% confidence interval 1.04-4.47) to high school graduate. In conclusion because vinyl house farmers showed significantly higher rates of low back pain compared to farmers without vinyl house, continuous study to find the true cause of low back pain among vinyl-house farmers and active effort to prevent low back pain are necessary.

Based on a survey sample of farm households in three provinces of Korea, this article reports the perspectives of fuel-time farmers regarding trade liberalization, its effects on their lives, and the future of small-scale farming. While the agricultural sector is being transformed under neoliberal policies, farmers, with life or no preparation for a global market order, are forced to modernize their farming operations. The findings from the survey indicate that farmers accede to terms of global integration in principle while disapproving state rural policies in practice. The survey data also confirm that intra-regional differences in farmers'perceived satisfaction with living conditions, government farm policies, and socio-economic/labor issues. Disparities in the degree of discontent with government policies and socio-economic well-being are explicit between the relatively diversified region of Kyonggi Province and the farming-dependent regions of Chunbuk and Kyongbuk Provinces. The overall findings uphold that most farmers who have not been fully exposed to free market mechanisms are confronted by increased uncertainties and economic hardships. The findings propound that agricultural/rural policies need to reflect long-term, macroeconomic changes, and regionally/locally-based agricultural structure.

12월 3일부터 7일까지는 벨기에의 브루셀에서 농업,농민뿐아니라 전국민 경제에 심각한 영향을 미치게 될 UR협상의 최종타결을 목표로 각료회의가 개최되는 등 90년의 마지막 12월도 어렵게 넘어가고 있다.우리앞에는 이밖에도 마사회의 체육부 이관, 관세.부가세의 영세율 적용, 연동제폐지에 따른 쇠고기 소비 증가 문제, 가격안정대제도 시행에 따른 제반 문제들이 산적해 있다.
