A Study on Plant in Submerged Area of Hoengseong Dam -Centered with Subdivided Area to Select Plants Capable of Transfer- (횡성댐 수몰지역내(水沒地域內)의 식생(植生)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -이식대상구역(移植對象區域)을 중심(中心)으로-)

  • This study was carried out in a part of conservative plans recovering natural ecosystem which will be submerged, as Hoengseong dam is being constructed around Hoengseong-Eup and Gabcheon-Myun. The submerged area was divided into 7 small areas to figure out what kinds of species of plants are and will be according to detailed geographic characteristics. In the center of the subdivided areas, Degree of Green Naturality, standing biomass, net 36production per year, and composition of plant species were investigated. The results are as following; 1. The surveyed area was classified into 8 degree by Degree of Green Naturality, and the appeared degree and the rate of occupation were 0(3.1%), 1(5.3%), 2(28.2%), 3(0.1%), 5(0.2%), 7(4.6%), 7(44.7%), and 8(13.8%). 2. Standing biomass was 88,436.3 ton/year and net production per year was 12,960.3 ton/year. 3. The list of vascular plants identified in this study consisted of 86 families, 221 genera, 1 variety, 3 formae and 306 species, totally summiting upto 310 species. 4. The 7 surveyed areas were largely occupied by Pinus community. In addition, there were Quercus mongolica, Quercus dentata, and Quercus acutissima communities.

  • 도시유역 물순환 해석 모형(Catchment hydrologic cycle Analysis Tool, CAT)은 기존의 개념적 매개변수 기반의 집중형 수문모형과 물리적 매개변수 기반의 분포형 수문모형의 장점을 최대한 집약하여, 도시유역 개발 전/후의 장/단기적 물순환 변화특성을 정량적으로 평가하고 물순환 개선시설의 효과적인 설계를 지원하기 위한 물순환 해석 모형이다. 이 모형은 수문학적으로 균일하게 판단되는 범위를 소유역으로 분할하여 지형학적 요인에 의한 유출 특성을 객관적으로 반영할 수 있으며, 개발 공간 단위별로 침투, 증발, 지하수 흐름 등의 모의가 가능하도록 하는 링크-노드 방식으로 개발되었다. 모형의 UI(User Interface)는 사용자가 손쉽게 모형을 적용/관리하고, 여러 시나리오를 동시에 효과적으로 모의하여 분석할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 또한, 모든 입/출력 자료를 엑셀이나 텍스트 형식과 연동되도록 하여 프로젝트별 매개변수 관리가 용이하도록 개발하였다. 특히 본 모형에서는 사용자의 목적에 맞는 다양한 물순환 개선시설(침투시설, 저류지, 습지, 빗물저장시설, 리사이클 및 외부급수 등)의 구현 및 모의가 가능하도록 개발하였다. 여기서, 물순환 개선시설이란 빗물을 흡수하고 저류할 수 있는 도시녹지시설 혹은 구조물로서 도심 내의 불투수면을 저감시키고 유출수를 줄이면서 동시에 녹지를 확보하여 효과적인 물순환 기능에 영향을 미치는 시설들이다. 이러한 물순환 개선시설은 신도시 및 지역 혁신도시 개발 등의 대규모 토지이용변화가 예상되는 개발지역에 대한 평가 및 개선 기술을 제공하여 물순환 건전화를 위한 설계에 직접적으로 활용될 수 있는 큰 장점을 지니고 있다. 먼저 침투 시설은 계획침투량을 반영하며 토양으로의 침투량과 지하수로의 이동을 모의한다. 저류시설은 하도 내에 위치한 online 저류지와 하도 외에 위치한 offline 저류지로 구분하고 저류지 수면의 증발량과 취수량을 고려하며, 방류구를 통한 방류량을 반영하였다. offline 저류지의 경우는 하도 내의 흐름의 규모에 따라서 일정량을 넘는 경우만 offline 저류지로 유입될 수 있는 양을 산정하도록 하였으며 하류 하천으로의 방류를 반영하여 홍수 후에 저류지가 비워지도록 하였다. 유역 내의 습지는 식생과 수면에서의 증발산을 반영하였다. 습지의 저류능력을 넘는 양은 월류되어 하류로 유출되며, 방류구를 통한 방류량을 반영하였다. 빗물저장시설의 경우는 초기우수와 같은 일정량 이하의 유입량과 시설용량을 초과하는 양은 방류하도록 하였고, 물 사용량을 반영하였다. 또한, 본 모형에서는 하천 내에서 취수하여 유역으로 공급할 수 있도록 리사이클 처리노드를 계획하였다. 리사이클은 용수 이용 목적에 따라 필요지역으로 공급되는 것으로 하였으며, 하천유지용수의 목적으로 취수되어 상류 혹은 하류의 임의 지역으로 공급되는 것을 포함하였다. 또한, 유역외부에 광역으로 급수되는 공급량도 반영하도록 하였다.

A Study on Model Development for the Density Management of Overcrowded Planting Sites and the Planting Design of New Planting Sites - A Case Study of Buffer Green Spaces in the Dongtan New Town, Hwaseong - (과밀식재지 밀도관리 및 신규식재지 배식설계 모델 개발 연구 - 화성시 동탄신도시 완충녹지를 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a model for the density management of planting sites and an additional model for new planting sites. In the Dongtan New Town of Hwaseong, there are buffer green spaces, with widths between 8m and 15m, between roads and apartment complexes. A total 38 survey plots were set to examine the planting patterns and the density of landscape trees. The Crown Overlapping Index (COI) was developed to assess the level of overcrowding as far as tree growth and development effectively. Pinus strobus recorded the most serious level of overcrowding growth and development. Its average density and average COI were very high at $0.3trees/m^2$ and 35.6%, respectively. There were many areas in which its COI was above 45%. The criteria for density management were set by standardizing the COI into three levels, which were above 45% (Type A), 30~45% (Type B), and under 30% (Type C). A model was proposed to manage poorly growing trees and to develop a model to select and manage trees of similar specification based on the planting patterns. The trees of density management areas were reviewed in terms of tree types and the ease of transplanting to establish an application system for the management plans according to the possibility of transplanting, thinning, and pruning. In new buffer green spaces, the planting density of Pinus strobus was lowered to $0.20{\sim}0.25trees/m^2$, with that of shrubs being reduced to $1.5{\sim}2.0trees/m^2$, leading to a planting design model to cover the lower parts in at least 30~40%.

Analysis of the Determinants on the Annual Average Price Rising Rate for Pyeong of Apartment Housing in Seoul (서울지역 아파트 평당 연평균 가격상승률 결정요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of the building, site, and region characteristic factors on the annual average price rising rate of apartment housing in Seoul. The data were consisted of 272 apartment units in Seoul. A survey included checking the drawing documents and interview with apartment maintenance staffs and real estate agencies from October 2006 to February 2007. Data were analyzed with descriptives, frequency, crosstabs, and linear regression by SPSS/PC for Window. The linear regression model was employed to evaluate the price rising rate in apartment housing. Following results were obtained. The price rising rate for pyeong ($3.3m^2$) of apartment housing was determinated by the district zone, the construction company's brand name, the building age, the building stories, the floor space index, the building-to-land ratio, the green space rate, and the distance from the downtown. Especially, the district zone was the most important factor that affected the price rising of apartment housing in Seoul. Therefore, the policy has to focus to solve the imbalance between autonomous districts with the collaborated tax.

Application of a Pond System to Korea for Treatment and Recycling of Wastewater (하수 처리 및 재활용 연못시스템의 국내 응용)

  • The applicability to Korea is examined of a pond system which treats and recycles wastewaters. Air temperature and solar radiation of the pond systems at Corinne, Utah, and Eudora, Kansas, which are located in temperate regions of the U.S., are compared with those of Kimpo lying in the mid-western part of Korea. Analyzed are also $BOD_5$ and SS concentrations, algal concentrations, pH levels, and water temperature of the two systems. Air temperature of Kimpo is quite similar to that of the two systems, and solar radiation of Kimpo is more conducive than that of the systems to the growth of algae during summer. Analysis of $BOD_5$ and SS concentrations in the final effluent of the systems shows that they meet the secondary treatment standards. The study demonstrates that wastewater treatment pond system which is similar in design to the systems can be reliably utilized at Kimpo, Korea. A model is proposed which can integrate a pond system with aquaculture and agriculture.

Time series Analysis of Land Cover Change and Surface Temperature in Tuul-Basin, Mongolia Using Landsat Satellite Image (Landsat 위성영상을 이용한 몽골 Tuul-Basin 지역의 토지피복변화 및 지표온도 시계열적 분석)

  • In this study analysis the status of land cover change and land degradation of Tuul-Basin in Mongolia by using the Landsat satellite images that was taken in year of 1990, 2001 and 2011 respectively in the summer at the time of great growth of green plants. Analysis of the land cover change during time series data in Tuul-Basin, Mongolia and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), SAVI (Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index) and LST (Land Surface Temperature) algorithm are used respectively. As a result shows, there was a decrease of forest and green area and increase of dry and fallow land in the study area. It was be considered as trends to be a land degradation. In addition, there was high correlation between LST and vegetation index. The land cover change or vitality of vegetation which is taken in study area can be closely related to the temperature of the surface.

Impact of Northeast Asian Biomass Burning Activities on Regional Atmospheric Environment (동북아시아 지역의 바이오매스 연소 활동이 지역 대기 환경에 미치는 영향)

  • Biomass burning activities(BBA) are caused by both natural and anthropogenic origins. Due to emissions of greenhouse gases and atmospheric aerosols during the burning process, BBA has been known to be one of important sources of atmospheric pollution and the climate change. However, the monitoring of BBA and its effects on atmospheric environment are not simple. This study evaluates the trends of BBA and its impact on atmospheric environment by using earth observing satellite. The results show that the most BBA were found over ever green, green vegetation types, and irrigated land cover types in study region. The trends of BBA and aerosol optical thickness which represents relative aerosol loading in the atmosphere, show similar pattern. Aerosol increases caused by BBA highlight the effectiveness of these mechanisms and would affect the regional atmospheric environment and climate change.

  • Citizens' needs for urban green spaces are on the rise due to improved quality of life and increased interest in environments. The garden is noteworthy because it is small in size, making it less controversial to create in the city, and it is adjacent to the residential area, improving citizens' daily environment. Moreover, recently gardens is attracting attention as a tool for urban regeneration, such as being created in declining areas as part of a government project. Therefore, it is time to study the role and value of urban gardens in deteriorated areas in terms of space welfare. However, there are few studies that quantitatively evaluate the effects of gardens, and many prior studies are limited to focusing the green space larger than a certain size (e.g., parks and forests). Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the effect of garden and gardening quantitatively, paying attention to social aspects such as life satisfaction and community of inhabitants. The study was conducted in an old row housing complex in Gojan1-dong, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do. In there, some of the dwellers voluntarily created outdoor gardens and engaged in gardening for a long time. In addition, after the 2017 Gyeonggi-do Garden Fair, several gardens have been maintained and used by residents there. For the first step, the field trip was done to research the status of the garden in the area, and then, a survey was conducted on whether or not gardening has an impact on the life satisfaction and community of residents. The results were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA. As a result, residents who are engaged in gardening are more active in the "neighborhood exchange" and "resident participation" than those who are not engaged in gardening. In addition, if residents voluntarily create a garden, the level of "satisfaction of life" is higher than those staying in the garden which is constructed by the government. And a resident who is gardening in the complex shows higher life satisfaction than those who garden outside of the complex. These results confirmed that the garden has positive effects promoting "exchanges with neighbors", "participation in the community", and "life satisfaction" of residents. It shows that it is important to ensure the right of residents to participate in the garden-making process as much as possible, and the garden's location should be paid attention to maximize the positive effect of gardens.

The Partitioning Characteristics of Heavy Metals in Soils of Ulsan by Sequential Extraction Procedures (단계별추출법에 의한 울산지역 토양 중의 중금속 Partitioning 특성연구)

  • This study analyzed total concentrations and existing forms of heavy metals in soils of Ulsan using a sequential extraction method. Soil samples were collected from 6 categorized areas including green, residential, heavy traffic, petrochemical industrial complex(IC), mechanical and shipbuilding IC, and non-ferrous metal IC areas. which represent different emission characteristics. The highest total concentrations of heavy metals by a sequential extraction analysis were observed in the soils collected from the non-ferrous metal IC area, followed by the mechanical and shipbuilding IC and heavy traffic areas. Dominant(> 50%) existing forms of Cd, Cr and Ni were residual forms followed by Fe and Mn oxides in almost areas. Residual fractions in the non-ferrous metal IC areas were relatively lower than those in other areas. However, the fractions of organic and sulphides in the IC areas were higher. The dominant farms of Cu were much different with the investigated areas. In most areas, the dominant forms of Pb and Zn were Fe and Mn oxides, followed by residual fraction for Pb. The exchangeable and carbonate fractions represent mobility of metallic elements in soils. They are also significantly affected by the environmental renditions, such as pHs of soil and rainfall. In this study the exchangeable and carbonate fractions were lower than other fractions. Because the total concentrations of heavy metals in the soils of the non-ferrous metal IC area were extremely high, however, the mobile fractions of heavy metals in the IC area would be significant. Thus a large amount of heavy metals can be released into plants, water bodies, and soils. Therefore, urgent measures, such as source control for soil remediation of heavy metals, in the non-ferrous metal IC areas are essentially required. Analysis results obtained from the sequential extraction and the aqua regia extraction showed a high correlation, whose determination coefficients(R2) of heavy metals except Cd approximately ranged from 0.7 to 0.9.

A Model for Estimating Social Cost of Mobile Emission Considering Geographical and Social Characteristics (지역 특성을 고려한 차량 배출물질의 사회적 비용 추정 모형)

  • This study proposed a model for estimating the unit value of social cost for mobile emission considering local geographical and social characteristics, together with a method to evaluate the air quality value. The model was built based on benefit transfer methods, the population density, and green space ratio of each area, which are reflected through independent variables. While applying the model, the unit value of social cost for mobile emissions in both densely populated areas of Seoul and Busan was found to be 18.68 times and 10.71 times higher than the national average, respectively. It is highly expected that this study can contribute to providing more reliable guidelines to decision makers when evaluating various green transportation policies and projects.
