  • The aim of this study is to investigate the present use condition of 145 public open spaces which have not been executed in the Busan Metropolitan City Area. The unexcused public open spaces are analyzed by the zoning, size, shape type and the development planning. First, in terms of the distribution rate by zoning, it is found that the majority of unexecuted public open spaces are located in residential area, especially in the third general residential area. Second, the most shape types are linear forms and the next are indeterminate form and fixed types. Lastly, just a few of the unexecuted public open spaces have the development plan and those are mostly to create a small park or rest area.

  • This survey was carried to determine the crowd In the city parks on the basis of the crowding and using denSity. The using density was vary different by season and day, and the density was much higher in this experiment than in the case of the foreign countries. This survey shows a high correlation between the using density and crowd as the crowd level was more influenced by the increasing number of park - users in the case of low using density than the high using density. The possible using space per individual was around 10㎥ in the parks, which means a strong endurance of the surveying group to the massing space, in the saturated crowding value that the crowd was not significantly affected by the increasing number of users.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate human thermal comfort in summer by the type of greenery in parks and to explore planning solutions to supply a comfortable thermal environment in parks. The research was conducted in three different land cover types: a park with multi-wide-canopied trees(WOODLAND), park with grass(LAWN) and park with pavement(PAV) as reference sites in Hamyang-Gun SangrimPark. Field measurements of air temperature, relative humidity and wind velocity, short-wave and long-wave radiation from six directions(east, west, north, south, upward and downward) were carried out in the summer of 2014(August 21-23 and 29-30). Mean Radiant Temperature($T_{mrt}$) absorbed by a human-biometeorological reference person was estimated from integral radiation and the calculation of angular factors. The thermal comfort index PET was calculated by Rayman software, UTCI, OUT_SET$^*$ were calculated using the UTCI Calculator and the Thermal Comfort Calculator of Richard DeDear. The results showed that the WOODLAND has the maximum cooling effect during daytime, reduced air temperatures/$T_{mrt}$ by up to $5.9^{\circ}C/35^{\circ}C$ compared to PAV and lowered heat stress values despite increasing relative humidity values and decreasing wind velocity. While the LAWN had very slight cooling effects during daytime, reduced air temperatures/$T_{mrt}$ by up to $0.9^{\circ}C/3^{\circ}C$ compared to PAV, the improvement effects of the thermal comfort index was very slight. However, during nighttime the microclimatic and radiant conditions of WOODLAND, LAWN, and PAV were similar owing to the absence of solar radiation, reduction of wind velocity and an increase in relative humidity. Because the shading and evapotranspiration effects of the WOODLAND were much greater than the evapotranspiration effects of the LAWN, it can be said that the solutions for supplying comfortable thermal environment in parks are to amplify the green volumes rather than green areas. This study was undertaken to evaluate the human thermal comfort in summer of WOODLAND/LAWN parks and to determine the improvement effects of thermal comfort index. These results can contribute to the provision better thermal comfort for park users during park planning.

  • A mountain village is defined as that which is autogenously formed over at least 100 years and supported by agricultural yields and forest products and forest area portion of which is over 70% in Guidelines for the Comprehensive Development Planning of Mountain Village. Recently, concerns about management planning of the Green and Eco-Village causes researches related to the Mountain Village's economics, tourism attractiveness, experience programming and investigation of the ecosystem and environment based on the village area. This kind of eco-village project should be supported by ecological evaluation of its spatial structure. But there is rare research of the village spatial structure studied from the ecological viewpoint originally. The purpose of this study is to interpret the spatial structure of Korean mountain village on the landscape ecological paradigm. The paradigm components are patches, corridors, networks, and matrix which explain the land and spatial structure at landscape scale. For this purpose, we selected two case study areas- Sansu and Ajick villages in Gimje city, Jeonlabukdo. We interpreted and evaluated the spatial structure by three steps: (1) to clarify the existing land mosaic pattern by land use mapping (2) to estimate the pore size as development area in matrix (3) to investigate the funnel effect of patch shape. These landscape ecological steps and frameworks could be applied for the proper methodology as fundamentals of eco-village planning and design.

  • Urban parks are public spaces that provide various services for any urban resident to use and enjoy. Parks should be fairly distributed so that the urban parks can be equally used amongst different regions, generations and classes. Researches on spatial distribution of urban parks have been continuously conducted from the past based on the principles of fairness with variety, and it was evident that their techniques have become more elaborate and sophisticated. Yet, there have been limitations in the analysis of residents who are the main users of the urban parks. The research done so far was unable to apply the real number of the residents and it was carried out by only classifying and analyzing the population by the same scale(grid in the same sizes), postal(zip) code and administrative district. The actual population that resides within the usable range of urban parks was not used. This study analyzes and evaluates the spatial distribution that the residents can use on foot, by utilizing the service areas and the residents' registration data by addresses. In this study, to analyze the square measure of the service areas of neighborhood parks in Daegu Metropolitan City and the number of residents within and outside of the service area, network analysis techniques were employed and the residents' registration data were utilized. Major findings were that the Square measure of service areas of neighborhood parks turned out to be 31.23% of the square measure of the residential areas and also, that only 43.03% of the population of the Daegu Metropolitan area lives within the service areas of the neighborhood parks.

  • To investigate the structure of the plant community of the Naejang Temple District in Mt. Naejang National Park, 22 plots were set up by the vegetation physiognomy and vegetation analysis by four kinds of ordination techniques(PO, PCA, RA and DCA) was carried out. Pure and mixed forest community of Quercus variabilis and Q. mongolica were major forest communities and each of them covered 31.27 and 20.77%, respectively. The degree of human disturbance of vegetation 9, 8, 7 and 6 area covered 30.9, 67.0, 0 and 0.02%, respectively. According to stand dynamic analysis by DBH class distribution, the present Pinus densiflora and Quercus communities may be succeeded to Carpinus laxiflora communities. DCA was the most effective method of this study. DCA ordination showed that successional trends of tree species seem to be from P. densiflora through Q. variabilis, Q. aliena, Sorbus alnifolia, Platycarya strobilacea to Carpinus laxiflora, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, Zelkova serrata, Cornus controversa in the tree layer, and from Rhododendron mucronulatum, Rh. schlippenbachii, Lespedeza cyrtobotrya, Rhus trichocarpa through Styrax japonica, Daphniphyllum macropodum, Sapium japonicum to Euonymus oxyphyllum, E. sieboldiana, Lindera erythrocarpa in the subtree layer.

  • Raclamaton of tidal flats has been practiced in Korea since the fifteenth century mainly for agiculatural porposes. The total area of reclaimed lands in 1994was estimated to be 400 k$m^2$ which corresponds to 2% of the national farm land. Recently, reclamation has been undertaken extensively, and such a huge projects as Samemankum Development will add over 401k$m^2$ by 2004. The impact of coastal reclamation on the environment is enormous. Most of them are presumably instrumental in causing local changes of coastal ecology. Reclamation is expected to be undertaken continuosly and adverse effects are expected. The authors ineended to identify the impacts of reclamation on the study area, to seek the causes of the environmental prolems of Shiwha-District Reclamation, and to analyze ite Environmental Impact Assessment to for environmentally sound sustained development.

  • A survey of Orimok, Yongsil and Donnaeko area forest in Mt. Halla. was conducted using 71 sample plots of 500$m^2$ size. In the analysis of -actual vegetation, Carpinus tschonoskii and C. laxiflora community covered 53.7%, Quercus grosseserrata - Q. serrata community 25.8%, Pinus densiflora community 8.3%, Abies koreana community 4.5% and these communities covered 92.2% of Mt. Halla forest. The degree of 8, 9 and 10 in human disturbance of vegetation covered 64.5, 28.6 and 6.9% respectively. The classification by TWINSPAN and DCA ordination were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plants and environmental variables. By two techniques, the plant community were divided into several groups by the aspect and altitude. The dividing groups are C. tschonoskii community, C. tschonoskii - Q. serrata community, P. densiflora - C. tschonoskii community, P. densiflora - C. laxiflora community, C. laxiflora community, C. laxifrora - Daphniphyllum macropodum - Eurya japonica community, P. densiflora community. The successional trends of tree species by both techniques seem to be from P. densiflora. Sorbus alnifolia through Q. serrata. Maackia faurier to C. tsihonoskii in Orimok and Yongsil area and from P. densifiora to C. laxiflora in Donnaeko area. There was no difference between the stand scores of. DCA and environmental variables.
