The purpose of this study is to explore and describe the health and welfare needs experienced by old parents living with disabled adult children, and to help generate research interest and public policy attention on this critical issue. For the purpose of this study, the survey was conducted with older parents who are living with dependent adult children with physical or mental disability. Among collected data for this study, data for 105 older parents were analyzed. The results showed that older parents have suffered with care responsibilities for their disabled adult children as well as special needs resulted from their old age. And older parents have little or even nothing prepared for later life because of lifetime economic, physical and social difficulties related to their disabled children. Also these difficulties had a significant impact on their idea of health and welfare needs in later life. It showed that older parents had mainly concerned and wanted to have the direct cash benefits and medical provisions but hardly recognised the importance of other services such as leisure activities. Preliminary suggestions of this study therefore may be helpful to improve the public policy approach in order to better serve older parents with disabled adult children in the coming aging society.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of the elderly patient's simulation experience on attitudes toward elderly and elderly patients, and empathy of elderly patients among nursing students. Study results showed that elderly patient's simulation experience did not have significant effects on attitudes toward elderly or elderly patients, whereas it had significant effect on enhancing the empathy on elderly patients. The subjects of experimental group indicated that the factors decreasing the effect of intervention are single event of experience, raising aging anxiety, lack of the reality of simulation clothing, and risk of accident during simulation experience, etc. In order to maximize the positive effects of the elderly patient's simulation program, it is necessary to find a way to improve those limiting factors identified from this study, and to continue to work on positive effects of elderly simulation applied for their curriculum.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the productivity of elderly employees over 60 years old and to analyze factors that directly or indirectly affect the productivity of elderly employees, based on empirical facts of HR managers. As a result, the factors that have a positive effect on the productivity of elderly employees were attitude and professionalism. The decline in physical capacity due to aging was recognized as a key factor that negatively affected the productivity evaluation of elderly employees. Among the management strategies to improve the work performance, it has been shown that work placement or job redesign according to physical competency contributes to improving the productivity of elderly employees. Also, providing safety education and communication opportunities among workers has a positive effect on productivity improvement. The results of this study suggest that it is important to improve worker productivity by arranging older workers' work experience to be able to demonstrate their accumulated career and expertise and to create a working environment that takes into account physical competence.

This article examines how and why entrepreneurship differs by region concerning the history of Korea's entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs). Through a qualitative analysis of 19 interviews, this article compares the history and components of Seoul National University and KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) EEs. First, these ecosystems emerged around 1996 and are currently experiencing the second startup boom, with various supporting organizations and actors involved. Second, these ecosystems revealed differences concerning material, social and cultural attributes. Third, differences in the networking of the two ecosystems are due to different regional cultures, which allow individuals to interpret entrepreneurial opportunities. In other words, the maintenance and development of EEs are cultural in essence and display regional variation.

This paper attempts to highlight such issues as the personal psychological problems due to the aging, and tries to investigate the effectiveness and the potentials of bibliotherapy to heal the wounded hearts of people who suffer from aging. Portrayed through a qualitative surveys and interviews with five subjects selected by the researchers, discussions were elaborated around three factors such as physical, cognitive. and social factors. The participants. throughout the study, came to understand and to narrate their own problems objectively and to discern their wounds. It was also observed that they felt relieved and stable after reading the books presented by the researchers. As a result, physical decline. isolation from family members, solitude in society and decline of self-esteem they have experienced since their mid-40s were recognized as natural changes from aging which were to overcome.
This study is a qualitative analysis that conducted a focus group interview to analyze the experiences of daily life of the elderly living alone and their chronic diseases management, and to explore the meaning, nature, and difficulties associated with. The subjects of this study were elder who lives alone without cognitive impairment and over 65-year-old. There were total 31 people and divided into 5 groups and they had 60 minutes interview. By this study, there were four themes of 'difficulties of daily life', 'suffering from chronic diseases', 'fear of the future', 'acceptance of life'. In conclusion, the elderly living alone felt difficulty in daily life due to physical aging and chronic illnesses, and they felt that they were accepting life at the same time while feeling the fear of the future situation. Therefore, in order to improve the life satisfaction and life quality of elderly people living alone, it is necessary to provide institutional devices that enable daily life such as meals and laundry to be maintained and to develop of an intervention program in order to maintain physical health. In addition, an intervention program should be developed to reduce the fear of future uncertainty and positively accommodate the life.
We investigated consumer perceptions of and purchase intentions for health foods. Data were collected from 454 adults over the age of 20 years living in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, from May 10 to June 5, 2010. Those that "hardly ever drink" (41.4%) were most prevalent in terms of drinking activity, whereas 80.8% of respondents did not smoke. Also, those who responded "hardly ever exercise" ranked highest; although 43.8% in fact exercised frequently. Of all respondents, 44.5% admitted to suffering slightly from stress. A total of 59.5% of respondents opined "I am healthy but I do worry about health", and "exercise" topped the list of approved (37.2% of respondents) health care methods. We also found that 83.5% of respondents claimed to have tried health foods, whereas in the case of having no taking experience, 60% had not purchased such foods because, in their view, this was unnecessary. The extent of concerns about health foods scored 3.09, and the level of purchase intentions for health food was high, with a score of 3.40. Therefore, all of government, producers, distributors, and academic researchers must provide consumers with accurate and complete information, and need to collaborate in the development of consumer education programs on health foods. This will enhance consumer interest in such foods, and empower logical choices.

The research data is 「Korean Social Life, Health and Aging Project」. The analysis target was 400 urban elderly people (K-gu, Seoul: surveyed Apr. ~ Jun. 2017) and 524 rural elderly people (B-myeon, Gyeonggi-do: surveyed Dec. 2015 ~ Feb. 2016). The research methods included descriptive statistical analysis, chi-square test through cross-analysis, correlation analysis, and logit analysis. The summary of the research results is as follows. First, the ratio of 'complete independence' in ADL/IADL was 'ADL(city)> ADL(rural)> IADL(city)> IADL(rural)". Second, the probability that the elderly living in rural areas will experience a lower ADL level and lower IADL level was 7.1 times and 3.25 times higher than that of the urban elderly. Lastly, the statistically significant variable affecting the ADL level of urban elderly was depression, and the IADL level was gender, age, economic activity, spouse presence, and depression. Age and economic activity were statistically significant variables for the ADL level of the rural elderly, and the IADL level was gender, age, and economic activity.
Care of people with severe disabilities requires care throughout their life cycle compared to non-disabled families. For this reason, carers of severely handicapped families are highly likely to have negative feelings throughout the family as well as daily stress. Disabled families also have a high rate of experiencing difficulties between non-disabled children or married couples in life centered on the disabled. In particular, the rapid aging in Korea affects the lives of the elderly disabilities along with the aging of the caregivers. The study explored alternatives to realistic support through the past and present experiences of caregivers with disabilities through qualitative research methods, and derived hopes and expectations for the future as follows.First, after confirming the disability for infants and toddlers with disabilities, information about the support system or system is provided from the rating agency. Second, providing "customized care support" suitable for the type of disability or individual characteristics at the social, political, institutional, and economic levels. Third, the provision of programs for non-disabled children and the provision of healing programs only for families with disabilities or those with disabilities. Fourth, the provision of spaces and programs that provide rest and rest for adults with disabilities. Fifth, the application of a long-term care system for the elderly reflecting the aging age of the disabled and institutionalization of community care for the disabled. The research is meaningful in that it presents discussion points for improving the quality of life of adults and the elderly with disabilities.
The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning and essence of aged life, which Korean elderly experience in real life and restructure them in the context of time and culture. In order to do so an in-depth interview was done with 15 elderlies over the age of 60 living in Hwaseong City, an urban-rural composite area in Gyeonggi Province where diverse elderlies could be found. In result, first, Korean elderly's understanding of aged life had physical, familial, economical, leisure, and social restoration aspects. Second, it was found that the degree of understanding about preparation for aging and preparedness is quite low. Third, as the gap between actual preparation for aging and aged life that elderly dreamed of became wider 'resentment on children', 'denial of reality', 'physical and economical change', and 'experience from prolongation of life-cycle' was found. Based on such results following suggestions could be made. First, the awareness of aged life and preparation for aging should be strengthened and there is a need for diverse educations aiming successful aged life. Second, elderly welfare policy and practical intervention with an integrated perspective based on the realm of life-cycle are demanded. Third, there is a need to strengthen the Aged Income Maintenance System for existing elder generation. Fourth, an intervention about adaptation and coping means of life event is needed. Lastly, there is a need to expand and carry out the aged life planning program for future elder generation.
