Equilibrium Analysis on the Pyrotechnic Reactions of Igniters (열역학 평형 계산을 이용한 점화제의 점화반응 분석)

  • This study investigated the aging reactions of three kinds of igniters(BKNO3, THPP, ZPP). The life-time of igniter depends on oxygen and moisture in the air. For example, Magnesium contained in the $BKNO_3$ reacts with oxygen and water to form oxide and hydrate. This reaction has an adverse effect on ignition reaction and could be information to analyze aging. Thermodynamic calculation could interpret the aging reaction by calculating flame temperature applying several variables(initial temperature, composition, etc.). If combustion is not completed because of aging igniters, flame temperature will be formed at a low range. The result of this research is expected to support the analysis of igniters aging reactions.

  • 활성 산소종은 노화, 특히 피부노화의 원인 물질로 작용하고 있다. 피부는 자외선에 노출되어 있어 활성 산소종을 만드는 광화학적 반응들이 계속해서 일어나고 있다. 이들 활성 산소종들은 피부 세포 및 조직 손상을 주도한다. 이들은 항산화 효소와 비효소적 항산화제들로 구성된 항산화 방어망을 파괴함으로써 산화제/항산화제 균형을 산화 상태 쪽으로 기울게 한다. 결과적으로 계속된 산화적 스트레스는 지질 과산화, 단백질 산화, 간질 성분을 파괴시키는 단백질분해효소의 활성화, 탄력 섬유인 콜라겐과 엘라스틴의 사슬절단 및 비정상적인 교차결합, 히아루론산 사슬의 절단, 멜라닌 생성반웅 촉진, DNA 산화와 같은 생체 구성 성분들의 손상을 야기시킨다. 결국에는 탄력감수 주름살 및 기미.주근깨 둥으로 특징 지워지는 피부노화가 가속화된다. 따라서 피부노화 방지를 위해서는, 과잉의 활성 산소종 생성을 억제하고 또한 생성된 활성산소를 효율적으로 제거할 수 있는 시스템이 화장품의 처방에 반드시 포함될 필요가 있다. 즉, 산화제/항산화제 밸런스가 유지되는 피부의 항산화 방어 시스템 구축이 필요하다. 피부노화 방지에 있어서 천연물의 역할로 (1) 자외선 흡수제로서의 역할, (2) 항산화제로서의 역할, (3) 주름 개선제로서의 역할, (4) 미백제로서의 역할, (5) 항균\ulcorner항염작용 및면역 조절제로서의 역할에 대하여 살펴 보았다. 21세기는 본격적으로 기능성 화장품 시대가 개막될 것으로 예측하고 있다. 이에 맞춰 천연물들은 피부노화를 방지하는데 주도적인 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

Effect of Cook Temperatures on Firming Rate of Cooked Rice (취반온도가 밥의 노화속도에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of cook temperatures, 100-$120^{\circ}C$, on firming rate of cooked rice stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours was studied. The cook temperatures had a definite effect in retarding the firming rate of cooked rice. The time constants, reciprocal of firming rate constants, of cooked rice cooked at $110^{\circ}C$ and $120^{\circ}C$ were 1.2 and 1.5 times greater, respectively, than that at $100^{\circ}C$. The total material available for crystallization and the Portion of material that durings storage were decreased as the cook temperature increased.

Thermal Aging Behaviors of Resole-Cured Rubber Composites (레졸로 가교된 고무 복합체의 열노화 거동)

  • Changes of crosslink densities of resole-cured NR composites by thermal aging were studied. The thermal aging was performed at $50-90^{\circ}C$. The crosslink density change increased with increase of the aging temperature and then decreased. Level of the crosslink density change decreased with increase of the resole content. Increase of the crosslink density by the thermal aging was explained with the formations of new crosslinks by combination reactions of pendent groups terminated by resoles and crosslinking reactions by pendent groups having methylol or o-methylene quinone intermediate. And decrease of the crosslink density by the thermal aging was explained with the dissociations of the existing crosslinks having dimethylene ether linkages.

Effects of Accelerated Thermal Aging on Dynamic Properties of Laminated Rubber Bearings (적층고무받침의 가속 열 노화 동적특성 영향)

  • The dynamic properties of laminated rubber bearings used as isolators in structures could be significantly deteriorated because of the change of microstructure in rubber caused by thermal aging. As a result, a catastrophic failure of bridges and buildings unexpectedly occurs when they are subjected to earthquake attack. Here, the dynamic properties of laminated rubber bearings before and after different of compression-shear loading and repeated cycles loadings, ultimated failure test with thermal aging were first measured and compared to each other. The experimental results, the effects of thermal aging on the shear stiffness, energy absorption, and equivalent damping coefficient of laminated rubber bearings are investigated. It is found that the deterioration of dynamic properties of laminated rubber bearings caused by thermal aging is significant and should be taken into account in designing rubber bearings.

The Stability of p53 in Ras-mediated Senescent Cells in Response to Nucleolar Stress (Ras에 의해 유도된 노화세포에서 핵인 스트레스에 의한 p53 안정화 연구)

  • B23/nucleophosmin, a nucleolar protein, translocates into the nucleus from the nucleolus when cells are damaged by extracellular stresses. Recently, it was shown that such translocation of B23/nucleophosmin in normal fibroblasts under stress conditions increases both the stability and activation of the p53 protein by disrupting its interaction with MDM2. Senescent cells have a single large nucleolus and a diminished capacity to induce p53 stability upon exposure to various DNA damaging agents. To investigate the role of B23/nucleophosmin in p53 stability in senescent cells, we established a senescence model system by expressing the ras oncogene in IMR90 cells. The stability of p53 was reduced in these cells in response to nucleolar stress, although the level of B23/nucleophosmin protein was not changed. In addition, p53 did not accumulate in the nucleus and B23/nucleophosmin did not translocate into the nucleoplasm. The binding affinity of B23/nucleophosmin with p53 was reduced in senescent cells, whereas the interaction between MDM2 and p53 was stable. Taken together, the stability of p53 in ras-induced senescent cells may be influenced by the ability of B23/nucleophosmin to interact with p53 in response to nucleolar stress.

The influence of expectations regarding aging on health-promoting behaviors (노화기대가 성인의 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the current study was to identify expectations regarding aging and health-promoting behaviors and to examine whether expectation regarding aging was associated with health-promoting behaviors among community-residing Korean adults. Data were collected from 233 adults dwelling in the community of Daegu and Kyungpook province. The influence of expectations regarding on health-promoting behaviors was analyzed through hierarchical multiple regression controlling for sociodemographic variables. As a result, the mean score of expectations regarding aging was significantly lower in 40s and 50s than 20s and 30s. The participants had the lowest expectations regarding aging in terms of physical health domain and the highest expectations in terms of mental health domain. No significant differences were found in health-promoting behaviors among different age groups. After controlling for sociodemographic variables, expectations regarding aging were independently associated with health-promoting behaviors in adults in 20s~30s but not in those in 40s~50s. The findings suggest the need for encouraging Korean adults to strive for having positive and active perspective on aging and for getting higher expectations regarding aging, in particular, for 20s and 30s, as a health-promoting strategy.

Evaluation of Aging Characteristics of Selected PMA using HP-GPC (HP-GPC를 이용한 폴리머개질 아스팔트의 노화특성 분석)

  • Oxidation causes increment of the quantity of large molecular size or LMS in asphalt and is a major reason for hardening of asphalt binder. An extended service life of pavement on a road is expected by reducing oxidation of binder. Oxidation of binder occurs during hot mixing with aggregates before placement on road and then during in-service after the asphalt pavement is constructed. Quantitative increase of LMS as result of aging after RTFO and PAV was analyzed based on the data from high-pressure gel-permeation chromatography (HP-GPC). Polymer modified asphalt (PMA) after RTFO procedure showed 20-30% increment in LMS and then after PAV procedure more than twice, although the percentage of increment was different according to asphalt brand and grade. The PMAs containing LDPE or SBS, which showed a great mechanical property improvement in previous studies, were selected for characterizing PMA aging In this study. Considerably reduced increment of LMS was observed from the PMA containing LDPE after RTFO and PAV procedures. The GPC result showing the binder with less LMS increment means that the asphalt while being mixed with LDPE was aged less during the aging treatment. The dispersed particle of LDPE in asphalt cement seems to disturb oxidative aging reaction and evaporation.

The Effects of Social Support, Self-Efficacy on Aging Anxiety of the Middle-Aged Women (중년여성의 사회적지지, 자기효능감이 노화불안에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of middle-aged women's social support and self-efficacy on their aging anxiety, with the ultimate goal of providing basic information for devising educational and interventive programs to help reduce aging anxiety. Participants of this study were 210 middle-aged women living in B Metropolitan City. Data were collected from May 10 to 28, 2018, and statistically processed using t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Participants showed significant differences in aging anxiety depending on age, education, monthly income, marital life satisfaction, leisure time activities, and number of friends. In addition, aging anxiety had significant negative correlations with social support and self-efficacy, and the main factors affecting middle-aged women's aging anxiety were found to be self-efficacy, marital satisfaction and social support. Of these, self-efficacy had the greatest effect, explaining 42.7% of the participants' aging anxiety. To help middle-aged women reduce their aging anxiety, it is necessary to provide them with programs that improve social activity participation, raise self-efficacy and promote relationships with family and communities. It is also recommended that these women be provided with educational and interventive programs that help them adjust to aging and develop a positive awareness of it.
