The Effect of the Aging Attitude on Life Satisfaction of Korean Elderly: Multi-mediation Effects of Solidarity between Parents and Children (노인의 노화태도가 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향: 부모-자녀 간 결속의 다중매개효과 검증)

  • The purpose of this study is examining the effect of aging attitudes of older people on their life satisfaction, and investigating the mediating role of solidarity between parents and children. To achieve this, the survey was conducted with 2,076 Korean elderlies who were sampled with proportional stratified, and performed multi-mediated regression with SPSS macro PROCESS v.2.16. The results are following. First, aging attitude that older people recognized significantly affects to their life satisfaction. Second, aging attitude significantly affects to the five sub-categories of solidarity between parents and children. Especially, as elderly shows more negative attitude on aging, the solidarity also goes higher. Third, among sub-categories of solidarity between parents and children, affectional, identical, and functional solidarities play roles of mediator on the relationship between aging attitude and life satisfaction, and affectional solidarity shows the biggest influence on the relationship. Based on the results, practical and policy intervention were suggested for better life satisfaction of Korean elderly.

A Study on the Effect of Economic Stress on Aging Anxiety among Elderly: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Age and Self-oriented Motivation of Volunteering (노년기 경제적 스트레스가 노화불안에 미치는 영향: 자발적 봉사활동 동기, 연령의 상호작용효과 검증)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of economic stress on aging anxiety focusing on the moderating effect of motivations for participation in volunteering, and age. In order to accomplish these purposes, a total of 182 elderly who have been volunteering were used for final analysis. The results from the multiple regression showed that economic stress increases aging anxiety among elderly and motivations for participation in volunteering are likely to mitigate aging anxiety. Also, aging anxiety is expected to be lower as people are older and have higher self-oriented motivation for volunteering. Based on the result, political and practical implications are discussed.

  • This study was conducted to find out the difference between aging anxiety and self-efficacy according to the general characteristics of the elderly in the community and to find out the correlation between aging anxiety and self-efficacy. From April 2019 to August 2019, 284 responses were used in the final analysis, focusing on senior citizens' health centers, welfare centers for senior citizens, health centers, and senior citizen centers in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, and the survey was conducted using an aging anxiety scale and a self-efficacy scale. Studies have shown that aging anxiety has shown statistically significant differences in age, economic level, health condition, and present concern, and self-efficacy has shown statistically significant differences in age, academic background, religion, economic level and health status. The higher the age anxiety, the lower the self-efficacy. It is thought that it can be used to establish specific strategic measures for successful aging that can keep healthy for a long time and maintain a safe life.

  • The purpose of this research is to suggest implications for the elderly with disability by taking a look at the influence of disability of elderly on successful aging and a moderating effect of social support network. This study analyzed the $4^{th}$ panel data from KReIS and the subjects for this research are 3,906 of elderly aged over 65 years. For the statistical analysis, the IBM SPSS Statistics v23.0 program was utilized. Technical statistics was verified, multiple regression analysis was used in order to take a look at the effects of moderating variable. The results of this research are as the following: Firstly, the disability of elderly had an negative effect on successful age. Secondly, as a social support network, friend & neighborhood network and family network had an positive effect on successful age. Thirdly, friend & neighborhood network among social support network had a moderating effect on successful aging. In other words, the more disabled the elderly are, the lower the level of successive aging became, it turned out that the bigger the social support of friend & neighborhood network, the less the negative effect of disability on successive aging. On the basis of the result, it was proposed a case management for the elderly with disability, assurance of mobility right, and self-help meeting program for social support network.

Community-Residing Elderly's Attitude toward Own Aging and Effects of Personal Resources, Social Support, and Social Participation: Focused on Elderly in Daejeon Metropolitan City (지역사회 노인의 자신의 노화에 대한 태도와 개인자원, 사회적 지지, 사회참여가 미치는 영향: 대전광역시 거주 노인을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the attitude toward own aging among community-residing elderly and the predictors of the attitude focusing on personal resources, social support, and social participation. Data were collected from 198 elders aged 60+ with the cooperation of several social service center for the aged, senior centers, and senior citizen associations in Daejeon Metropolitan City. SPSS 22.0 software was used for descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that (1) the research participant elderly's attitude toward own aging indicated fairly negative perception of their own aging; (2) self-esteem and economic status were statistically significant factors indicating the higher levels of self-esteem and economic status predicting the positive attitude of their own aging; (3) emotional support from family was statistically significant factor that predicted the positive attitude of their own aging; (4) the level of social participation was also statistically significantly associated with the positive attitude; (5) In the full model of all independent variables, the significance of emotional support from family and social participation disappeared, but self-esteem and economic status among personal resources remained statistically significant influential factors. Based on the findings, suggestions for social welfare policy and practice to improve community-residing elderly's positive attitude toward their own aging were discussed.

A Study on the Sociocultural Psychological factors influencing on the Successful Aging of the elderly (노인의 성공적 노화에 영향을 미치는 사회문화·심리적 요인)

  • This study was conducted to predict sociocultural psychological variables affecting successful aging of the elderly. The participants were 187 elderly people aged at least sixty who used 16 elderly welfare centers in G metropolitan city and J and S city from december 2018 to january 2019. Data analysis was done by using SPSS WIN 23.0 program, for one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. This study showed a positive correlation between successful aging and basic psychological need, ego-integrity, cultural competence. The ego-integrity(${\beta}=.372$, p<.001), cultural competence(${\beta}=.410$, p<.001), relationship(${\beta}=.168$, p=.003) have a 71.1% explanatory power for the successful aging of the elderly. It is necessary to develop sociocultural psychological programs to promote self-integration, cultural competence, and relationship for successful aging of the elderly.

A Study on the Aging Knowledge, Sexual Perception and Sexual Attitude about the Aged People in a Local Adults (일 지역 성인의 노화지식과 노인에 대한 성인식 및 성태도에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to: (a) explore correlations between aging knowledge, sexual perception and sexual attitude of aged people among adults, and (b) provide a database to develop an educational program to instill the right perception and sexual attitude of aged people in our society. The subjects were 340 adults aged 20-59 years living in K do, B and U city. The data were collected from June 9, 2015 to August 23, 2015 and analyzed based on the means, percentages, t-tests, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient using IBM SPSS 21.0. The subjects' score of aging knowledge was 12.12, sexual perception of aged people was 2.99, sexual attitude of aged people was 4.04. There were significant correlations between aging knowledge and sexual perception of aged people (r=0.227, p<0.001), aging knowledge and sexual attitude of aged people (r=0.369, p<0.001), sexual perception of aged people and sexual attitude of aged people (r=0.299, p<0.001). Therefore, it is necessary to provide systematic education about aging knowledge and sex of aged people by to change the perception and attitude of the elderly in our society.

  • 노인의 피부는 노화로 말미암아 여러 가지 문제가 생길 수 있따. 그러나 적절하게 관리하지 못하여 여러 가지 피부 질환으로 고생하게 되는 경우가 많다. 노인에게 올 수 있는 피부 문제를 알고 대처하는 것이 중요하다. 흔히 노인들은 외모의 변화를 심각하게 고민하지만, 생명과 관련이 없는 현상이기 때문에 무관심하게 되고, 적절한 관리를 받을 기회를 놓쳐 심각한 피부 질환으로 진행되기도 한다. 노인들은 피부의 변화와 주름을 창피하거나 부끄럽게 생각하지 말고, 자신의 삶의 일부를 나타내는 행복의 선으로 받아들여야 한다. 또한 이를 성형수술이나 화장으로 감추려 하지 말고 적절한 관리를 통해 가능하다면 피부 노화가 느리게 올 수 있도록 관리하는 것이 중요하다. 노인에게서 흔한 피부 질환은 피부 소양증, 대상포진, 피부 건조증, 피부암 등이 있다.

Factors Affecting Successful Aging in Rural Elderly People (농촌 노인의 성공적 노화 영향요인 분석)

  • This study was done to examine the affecting factors of successful aging to provide basic information for developing intervention program for the rural elderly. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive design was used. Data was collected through questionnaire from 208 people with age over 65 residing in an rural community. They were recruited by convenience sampling. Collected data were analyzed by independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression through SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Explanatory factors affecting the rural elderly's successful aging were social support, depression, cognitive function, productive activity and Activities of daily living, respectively, and these five factors accounted for 42.1% of the variance in successful aging. Conclusion: The rural elderly's successful aging requires establishment of social support system such as health medical service supply and social activities by being connected with social communities, and for this, this study suggests that there be a necessity of developing customized nursing intervention program.
