  • The purpose of this paper is to examine how visuospatial ability affects the situation awareness for older drivers while driving. For this study, the Rey-Osterrith Complex Figure (ROCF) was used to measure the visuospatial ability of older drivers. The ROCF is used to measure visuospatial construct and memory abilities, and Real-Time Probes were used to measure the situation awareness with UC-win/Road simulation. Sixty drivers participated in this research (N = 30 older drivers, median = 70 years old and N = 30 younger drivers, median = 27 years old). Based on the results of this analysis, a repeated measure ANOVA was used to analyze the effect on each level of situation awareness related to visuospatial ability in driving. The results indicate that the visuospatial ability of older drivers serves as a crucial factor in determining the potential for older drivers to safely continue to drive. The results also imply the necessity of ROCF development to support and improve the visuospatial ability of older drivers.

Data were collected by self-report questionnaires targeting 142 caregiver in D city and G city. Data were analyzed with SPSS/PC ver. 21.0 programs. There were significantly positive correlations between toward the geriatric patient, emotional work and burnout. As a result of analyzing the main factors affecting the level of care performance for attitudes toward caring the geriatric attentiveness, health state, work type appeared to be significant explanatory variables, and this model's explanatory power was 31%. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the education program to improve the social awareness in addition to the stable work environment of the nursing care provider in order to raise the attitude of the caregiver to care for the elderly.

  • Ciona intestinalis and Ciona savignyi have been designated as hazardous species because they have caused great damages as they appeared in ports, ships, and farms in Korea in large amount. Therefore, in terms of using them, the possibility of use as cosmetic ingredients was examined. C. intestinalis and C. savignyi were treated with 70% ethanol to make an extract and then their antioxidant activity was measured. C. intestinalis and C. savignyi showed 71.80% and 21.40% of DPPH at 20mg/mL of extract, respectively. ABTS was 95.47% and 27.53%, while nitric oxide production inhibitory ability was 97.47% and 88.90%, respectively. Total phenol content was 0.081 and 0.041 mg gallic acid/mg extract, respectively. As a result, C. intestinalis showed somewhat higher antioxidant activity than C. savignyi. It is confirmed that these extracts are animal-derived antioxidants that can be used as cosmetic materials.
