Network Security Visualization for Trend and Correlation of Attacks (네트워크 공격 추이 및 공격 연관 정보 시각화)

  • Network security visualization technique using security alerts provide the administrator with intuitive network security situation by efficiently visualizing a large number of security alerts occurring from the security devices. However, most of these visualization techniques represent events using overlap the timelines of the alerts or Top-N analysis by their frequencies resulting in failing to provide information such as the attack trend, the relationship between attacks, the point of occurrence of attack, and the continuity of the attack. In this paper, we propose an effective visualization technique which intuitively explains the transition of the whole attack and the continuity of individual attacks by arranging the events spirally according to timeline and marking occurrence point and attack type. Furthermore, the relationship between attackers and victims is provided through a single screen view, so that it is possible to comprehensively monitor not only the entire attack situation but also attack type and attack point.

A Time Synchronization Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Networks (에너지 제한적인 무선 네트워크에서 동작하는 시각 동기화 프로토콜)

  • In IoT(Internet of Things), it is important for wireless networks to communicate data created among resource-constrained wireless nodes, where time synchronization is needed for meaningful data creation and transmission. Time Synchronization by flooding is one of the mostly used protocols for WSN(Wireless Sensor Networks). Even though this type of scheme has some advantages over other types (i.e. a simple algorithm and independency of topology and so on), too many data transmission is required, leading to large power consumption. So, reducing transmission data is an important issue for energy efficiency in this kind of networks. In this paper, a new Flooding-based time synchronization protocol is proposed to use energy efficiently by reducing a transmitted traffic. The proposed scheme's performance has been evaluated and compared with an representative scheme, FTSP(Flooding Time Synchronization Protocol) by simulation. The results are shown that the proposed scheme is better than FTSP.

An Analysis of Time Difference from Network Delay over UDP Network (UDP 환경에서 송수신 지연에 의한 시각오차 측정 및 분석)

  • 종단간 전송 지연은 시각 동기, 네트워크 성능 측정 등에서 매우 중요한 요소이다. 그러나 IP에 기반하고 있는 Internet은 여러 통신망 상의 지연 요소를 정확히 전달할 수 있는 구조가 없기 때문에 종단간 전송에 있어 전송 지연을 정확하게 알 수 없다. 특히 UDP 네트워크의 경우 전송할 때와 수신할 때 경로가 같지 않기 때문에 일반적으로 일주 지연 시간을 이용하지만 각 편도 전송 지연 시간 차이는 시스템의 다른 요소에 대해서 오류 요소로 작용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 일주 지연 시간을 전송시 지연 시간과 수신시 지연 시간으로 따로 측정 분석하였다. 측정 결과 편도 전송 지연 시간 차이 값은 수십 밀리초 범위를 가지며 이는 NTP 등에서 시각을 동기화 할 때 통상적인 정확도, 수 밀리초를 훨씬 넘어선다. 이것은 편도 지연 시간 차이값이 시각 동기, 네트워크 성능 평가 등에서 중요한 오류값으로 작용한다는 것을 의미한다. 분석 결과를 실험 데이터에 적용할 경우 실제 편도 지연 시간에 근사한 값을 구할 수 있고 좀더 정확한 시각 동기, 네트워크 성능 평가가 가능하게 된다.

  • 본 논문은 TPSN 알고리즘의 시각 동기화 오차를 개선하기 위하여 Imote2 센서 노드의 클럭 드리프트 특성을 적용하는 개선된 TPSN 알고리즘을 제안한다. 클럭 드리프트의 원인은 주로 수정발진기에 기인한다. 본 연구에서는 온도 및 습도 등 환경 조건이 비슷할 경우에 드리프트가 크게 차이나지 않는다는 실험 결과에 따라 드리프트의 평균값을 구하고 이를 TPSN 동기화 오차 보정에 사용한다. 이때 적용되는 드리프트 특성 값은 센서 노드 설치 이전에 미리 측정하여야 한다. 실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 개선된 TPSN 알고리즘이 동기화 오차 개선에 효과적임을 확인하였다.

  • While lots of information service providers utilize the information visualization to deliver information clearly and efficiently, the misuse of information visualization can occur many problems. We evaluated and analyzed visualization elements mainly applied to the representative information services. To find out the relation between attributes of visualization elements and efficiency of information service, we had analyzed attributes of target elements before we have evaluated. Through this study we revealed that Information visualization on information service has to be applied with considering the characteristics of information and each visualization element, and its elements can be optimized and support users to obtain intuitive insight when they are complementally combined and offer sufficient attributes additionally. We expect that the result of this study will be a guide for utilizing information visualization and developing visualization elements.

Measuring the Goodness of Fit of Link Reduction Algorithms for Mapping Intellectual Structures in Bibliometric Analysis (계량서지적 분석에서 지적구조 매핑을 위한 링크 삭감 알고리즘의 적합도 측정)

  • Link reduction algorithms such as pathfinder network are the widely used methods to overcome problems with the visualization of weighted networks for knowledge domain analysis. This study proposed NetRSQ, an indicator to measure the goodness of fit of a link reduction algorithm for the network visualization. NetRSQ is developed to calculate the fitness of a network based on the rank correlation between the path length and the degree of association between entities. The validity of NetRSQ was investigated with data from previous research which qualitatively evaluated several network generation algorithms. As the primary test result, the higher degree of NetRSQ appeared in the network with better intellectual structures in the quality evaluation of networks built by various methods. The performance of 4 link reduction algorithms was tested in 40 datasets from various domains and compared with NetRSQ. The test shows that there is no specific link reduction algorithm that performs better over others in all cases. Therefore, the NetRSQ can be a useful tool as a basis of reliability to select the most fitting algorithm for the network visualization of intellectual structures.

  • With the development of technology for visualizing big-data, tasks such as intuitively analyzing a lot of data, detecting errors, and deriving meaning are actively progressing. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a 3D analysis that collects and stores the writing data in Chinese characters provided by the Korean Classical Database of the Korean Classics Translation Institute, stores and progress the data, and visualizes the writing information in a 3D network diagram. It solves the problem when a large amount of data is expressed in 2D, intuitive that analysis, error detection, meaningful data extraction such as characteristics, similarity, differences, etc. and user convenience can be provided. In this paper, we improved the problems of analyzing Chosun dynasty poetry in Chinese characters using 2D visualization conducted in previous studies.

  • 우리나라 최초의 우주탐사 사업인 달 탐사선(KPLO) 개발 사업에는 국내에서 개발하는 과학 탑재체 3기, 기술 검증탑재체 1기, 고해상도 카메라 1기, 국제협력의 일환으로 NASA의 과학 탑재체 1기도 함께 개발되고 있다. KPLO와 이들 탑재체의 운영을 수행하게 될 KPLO 심우주 지상시스템은 달 탐사선 운영에 필요한 궤도, 임무계획 등의 정보를 생성하고, KPLO의 기동명령과 상태정보를 송, 수신하는 역할을 주요 임무로 수행한다. 또한 이들 정보를 기반으로 궤도임무를 수행하고 있는 KPLO의 임무운영 상태를 시각화하여 운영자로 하여금 KPLO 운영을 용이하게 하고, 공공에게 이를 제공하는 역할도 함께 수행한다. KPLO 심우주 지상시스템은 AGI사의 STK와 NASA/JPL에서 개발한 Cosmographia를 활용하여 각각 특성에 맞는 KPLO 운영 시각화 정보를 제공할 것이다. 본 발표에서는 Cosmographia의 작동 및 활용 개념을 설명하고, KPLO의 가상 임무를 적용한 SPICE Kernels을 활용하여 고해상도 카메라인 LUTI의 지향, 달 중심 표준좌표를 적용한 KPLO의 궤도 등을 시각화 시연을 한다. 또한 고해상도 달 표면 영상 적용, 심우주 네트워크 안테나의 위치 정보표출 등 Cosmographia에서 기본적으로 제공하던 시각화 정보를 개선한 내용에 대해서도 함께 시연한다.

  • Recently, diverse information which are location, call history, SMS history, photographs, and video can be collected constantly from mobile devices such as cellular phone, smart phone, and PDA. There are many researchers who study services for searching and abstraction of personal daily life with contextual information in mobile environment. In this paper, we introduce MyLifeBrowser which is developed in our previous work. Also, we explain LPS and correction of GPS coordinates as extensions of previous work and show LPS performance test and evaluate the performance of expanded keywords. MyLifeBrowser which provides searching personal information in mobile device and support of detecting related information according to a fragmentary keyword and common knowledge in ConceptNet. It supports the functionality of searching related locations using Bayesian network that is designed by the authors. In our experiment, we visualize real data through MyLifeBrowser and show the feasibility of LPS server and expanded keywords using both Bayesian network and ConceptNet.

  • Unexpected equipment defects can cause a huge economic losses in the society at large. Although condition monitoring can provide solutions, the signal processing algorithms must be developed to predict mechanical failures using data acquired from various sensors attached to the equipment. The signal processing algorithms used in a condition monitoring requires high computing efficiency and resolution. To improve condition monitoring on a wireless sensor network(WSN), data visualization can maximize the expressions of the data characteristics. Thus, this paper proposes the extraction of visual feature from temperature data over time using condition monitoring based on a WSN to identify environmental conditions of equipment in a large-scale infrastructure. Our results show that time-frequency analysis can visually track temperature changes over time and extract the characteristics of temperature data changes.
