This paper is an experimental study on the pleasantly suitable cool/warm air conditioning system in order to minimize the energy consumption by attaching the electronic-controlled device to the heat pump air conditioning system. While the cool/warm air conditioning, the air temperatures in the entrance and exit of the indoor heat exchangers should be checked and when the surface of heat exchanger is reached to the dew point temperature, a speed of the compressor is to be automatically controlled by anti-dewing system in order to minimize the energy consumption. At the result of this study, the energy consuming amount is saved about 5% more than that of the conventional air conditioning system by prevent unnecessary dew forming.
In this paper, this system which constantly control rotation speed of compressor is designed to use in idling state as traffic jam. Also this system is designed to improve reduction of cooling efficiency when sloping and starting a bus. The estimation of designed system in this paper is performed in the laboratory where KS-R-1053 is satisfied. We come to the conclusion that this system is more excellent than the present system in point of cooing ability and response characteristic of controller.
The purpose of this study is to present the simulation results and an overview of the performance assessment of a solar heating & cooling system by means of the $200m^2$ evacuated tube solar collector. The simulation was carried out using the thermal simulation code TRNSYS with new model of a single-effect LiBr/$H_{2}O$ absorption chiller developed by this study. The calculation was performed for yearly long-term thermal performance and for two design factors: the solar hot water storage tank and the cold water storage tank. As a result, it was anticipated that the yearly mean system efficiency is 46.7% and the solar fraction for the heating, cooling and hot water supply are about 84.4 %, 41.7% and 72.4%, respectively.
Commercial buildings account for significant portions of the total building energy in Korea, and thus, a variety of research on chiller operation has been carried out. However, most of the studies were carried out on the chiller itself, i.e., the part load ratio characteristics and the corresponding electricity energy consumption patterns were not analyzed in existing studies. In this study, the part load ratio and the operating characteristics of the vapor compression chiller were analyzed within an office building equipped with the conventional variable air volume system. As a result, significant portions of total operating hours, cooling load, and energy consumption turned out to be in the part load ratio range of 0 through 50%. Thus, energy consumption was significantly affected by the chiller COP at low part load conditions, indicating that chiller operation at the part load is an important factor in commercial buildings.
Cycle simulation of the air-conditioner was carried out using a number of candidate alternatives to R22;R32/R125/R134a(30/10/60, by mass percent), R32/R125/R134a(10/70/20), R32/R134a(25/75), R32/R134a(30/70), R32/R125(60/40), R290(propane) and R134a. In this study, we considered only the basic parts of the air-conditioner such as the compressor, the evaporator, the condenser and the capillary tube, for the purpose of analysis. The performance characteristics of alternatives considered here were examined by comparing with the case using R22 at the constant volumetric flow rate condition. The results of our analysis revealed that the use of refrigerant mixtures, R32/R134a(30/70) and R32/R125/R134a(30/10/60), was appropriate for the alternatives to R22 in view of the cooling capacity and the COP. For the case of using R134a and R290, the COP was observed to increase under the same volumetric flow rate condition, but the cooling capacity was substantially decreased. Therefore the use of R134a and R290 should be accompanied with increasing considerably the size of compressor in order to maintain the same cooling capacity of R22.
This paper presents demonstration study results derived through field testing of a part load solar energized cooling system for the library of a cultural center building located in Gwangju, Korea. First operating demonstration system was set up in Gwangju in 2005. These system comprises the $200m^2$ evacuated tubular solar collector, a $6m^3$ heat storage tank. In a 2006, daily average of insolation showed about $506W/m^2$, the solar collector efficiency was 44%. In a 2007, daily average of insolation showed about$507W/m^2$, the solar collector efficiency was 42%. As a result, evacuated tubular solar collector kept the high efficiency for two years.
For an asymmetric scroll compressor for heat pump application, a numerical simulation was carried out to investigate the effects of injection port design on the compressor's performance under gas injection. To validate the simulation, the numerical results were compared with experimental results obtained from a scroll compressor with a base injection port design. There was good agreement between simulation and experimental results, with around a 1% difference in the injection mass flow rate when the injection pressure was below $12kgf/cm^2A$ for the heating mode. Various injection port angular positions were numerically tested to yield better injection performance. The largest improvement in heating capacity was obtained at angles of $240^{\circ}$ and $200^{\circ}$ inward from the scroll wrap end angle for low-temperature and standard heating conditions, respectively, while the maximum COP improvement was at $365^{\circ}$ and $280^{\circ}$, respectively. A considerable improvement in cooling capacity was also found at the injection port angle of $240^{\circ}$.
In this paper, a rolling piston rotary compressor having a combined vane and roller unit has been introduced. In a conventional rotary compressor, sliding motion takes place between the vane nose and roller. By combining the vane and the roller in one unit, gas leakage through a clearance between the vane nose and the roller can be eliminated, and the frictional loss between them can also be reduced to almost nought. Compressor model with the combined vane and roller has been fabricated and tested in a compressor calorimeter and computer simulation program has been developed to confirm merits of the new mechanism. In a test, cooling capacity has been found to be increased by 1.4%, and the compressor input decreased by 0.3%, resulting in 1.7% increased in EER. Simulation program confirmed the calorimeter test results and the merits of the new model as mentioned above.
The performance characteristics of heat exchangers which consist of a gas cooler, an evaporator and an internal heat exchanger have been investigated at various operating conditions of $CO_2$ air conditioning system by experiments. The heat exchangers were designed for use in the vehicle $CO_2$ air conditioning system, when considering the characteristics of heat transfer and high pressure as $CO_2$ refrigerant. This paper studied the performance of heat exchangers at various compressor speeds and expansion valve openings, and quantified the heat transfer rates and pressure drops. Heat transfer rates at the gas cooler and the evaporator were 6.9 kW and 5.2 kW, respectively, when the compressor speed was 4000 rpm and refrigerant vapor quality at the evaporator outlet was 0.98. Therefore, this paper carried out that the heat exchangers were analyzed to achieve superior performance for the vehicle transcritical $CO_2$ cycle.
