Heat Transfer Characteristics of Carbon Dioxide in a Inclined Helical Coil Type Heat Exchanger with Inner Diameter Tube of 4.55 mm (내경 4.55 mm의 경사진 헬리컬 코일형 열교환기내 이산화탄소의 열전달 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop during gas cooling process of $CO_2$ (R-744) in inclined helical coil copper tubes were investigated experimentally. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and a inclined helical coil type gas cooler (test section). The test section consists of a smooth copper tube, which is specified as the inner diameter of 4.55 mm. The refrigerant mass fluxes were varied from 200 to $600kg/m^2s$ and the inlet pressures of gas cooler were done 7.5 to 10.0 (MPa). The heat transfer coefficients of $CO_2$ in the inclined helical coil tubes increase with the increase of mass flux and gas cooling pressure of $CO_2$. The pressure drop of $CO_2$ in the gas cooler shows relatively good coincidence with those predicted by Ito's correlation developed for single-phase in a helical coil tube. The local heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ is well coincident with the correlation by Pitla et al. However, at the region near pseudo-critical temperature, the experiments indicate higher values than the Pitla et al. correlation.

Performance of R290 and R1270 as Alternative Refrigerants of R22 According to Temperature Variations of Evaporator and Condenser (증발기와 응축기 온도변화에 따른 R22 대체냉매 R290 및 R1270의 성능평가)

  • In this study, performance of 2 pure hydrocarbons R290 and R1270 was measured in an attempt to substitute R22 under 3 different temperature conditions. They were tested in a refrigerating bench tester with a hermetic rotary compressor. The test bench provided about 3.5 kW capacity and water and water/glycol mixture were employed as the secondary heat transfer fluids. All tests were conducted under the same external conditions resulting in the average saturation temperatures of $7/45^{\circ}C$ and $-7/41^{\circ}C$ and $-21/28^{\circ}C$ in the evaporator and condenser, respectively. Test results show that the coefficient of performance (COP) of these refrigerants is up to 11.54% higher than that of R22 in all temperature conditions. Compressor discharge temperatures were reduced by $14{\sim}31^{\circ}C$ with these fluids. There was no problem with mineral oil since the mixtures were mainly composed of hydrocarbons. The amount of charge was reduced up to 58% as compared to R22. Overall, these fluids provide good performance with reasonable energy savings without any environmental problem and thus can be used as long term alternatives for residential air-conditioning and heat pumping application.

Condensation Heat Transfer Characteristics of HCFC - 123 inside Horizontal Smooth Tube (HCFC-123의 수평 평활관내 응축 전열 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Experimental data on the heat transfer characteristics of HCFC-123 and CFC-11 during condensation in horizontal smooth tube are presented. The experimental apparatus consisted of a closed working fluid loop, coolant loop, and measuring system. The major components of the working fluid loop made of a refrigerant pump, boiler, superheater, refrigerant flow meter, receiver and test section. The tube-in-tube type test section was made of smooth tube which were constructed form 9.52 mm outer diameter of smooth copper tube with 50 mm outside diameter of PVC tube duct. The ranges of parameter, such as refrigerant mass velocity, coolant flow rate, and quality were 90-325kg/($m^2$.s), 60-360kg/h, 5-95% respectively. Data were obtained under steady state condition for annular flow. As a result of these, the condensation heat transfer coefficients for HCFC-123 were slightly lower than those of CFC-11 from 8% to 15% inside horizontal smooth tube. Furthermore, a new generalized correlation for the heat transfer coefficients of HCFC-123 and CFC-11 during condensation inside horizontal smooth tube is proposed.

  • 금번 특집호중 앞서 소개된 각종 냉매 또는 가스압축기의 소개를 통해 압축기의 종류 및 작동원리에 대한 내용은 이미 많이 소개되었을 것으로 생각됩니다. 따라서 실제 공기압축기를 사용하고 선정하는데 필요한 기본원리와 구조에 대해 간략히 소개하고자 합니다. 공기의 운동이나 공기 압축을 의미하는 Pneumetic 이라는 말은 고대 그리이스어의 "Pneuma"에서 유래 되었으며 호흡, 바람을 의미했고, 철학에서는 정신(영)을 의미했다. 공기압축기는 전기모터나 내연기관(원동기) 또는 터어빈 등의 동력장치로부터 동력을 전달받아 공기에 압축일을 가함으로써 공기를 압축시켜 압력을 높여주는 기계로서 오늘날 산업전반에 걸쳐 널리 사용되고 있고 이중 중소형 공기압축기의 대표 기종인 소형왕복동식공기압축기와 중형스크류식공기압축기의 원리와 구조에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 소개하고자 한다.

Performance of a room air conditioner using R410A according to the variation of outdoor temperature (실외온도 변화에 따른 R410A 적용 에어콘 시스템의 성능)

  • The system performance of a room air conditioner using R410A was experimentally evaluated and compared with that of R22 system. The results indicated that the cooling EER(energy efficiency ratio) of R410A was 1% higher than that of R22 at the outdoor temperature of $35^{\circ}C$. As outdoor temperature increases above $35^{\circ}C$ ambient, EER of the R410A system decreased more substantially compared with R22 system. R410A showed higher compressor discharge temperature than that of R22 system at the outdoor temperature of higher than $50^{\circ}C$.

  • In this study, an experiment was performed to investigate the characteristics of pressure drop and heat transfer of multi-channel tubes for automotive condenser using HFC-134a as an alternative refrigerant. The mass flux and inlet saturation pressure of the refrigerant were controlled, respectively, in the range of 200 to $500kg/m^2s$ and 1.0 to 1.6MPa. Pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient were compared with the previously proposed correlations and new correlations based on Traviss' correlation were suggested. Prediction of pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient based on the new correlations agrees with experimental results within ${\pm}9%$ and -18~+11%, respectively.

  • 본 연구는 Moss형 LNG선박의 방열구조에서 LNG탱크에 침입하는 열량과 선체의 온도분포를 예측하고, 운항 중 LNG탱크를 Cooling down(예냉)하는 경우 발생하는 비정상상태에서 LNG탱크에 발생하는 국부적인 열응력을 검토할 수 있는 비정상 온도분포해석과 LNG증발량을 검토하였다. 특히 운항 중인 선박을 대상으로 일반적인 수치계산시에 필요한 각종 입력절차를 간소화 하고 경계조건 선정시에 비 전문가도 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 전산프로그램을 개발하였다. Moss형 LNG탱크의 예냉작업에 필요한 최적의 냉매량과 예냉조건을 비정상상태에서 해석한 것은 설계자 및 선박 운항자에게 유용하게 이용될 것이다.

The Effect of R-134a and R-430a on the Performance of Refrigeration Equipment for R-134a (R-134a용 냉동장치의 성능에 미치는 R-134a와 R-430a의 영향)

  • The effect of refrigerant R-134a and R-430a on the performance of refrigeration equipment for R-134a is investigated. Refrigeration effect, compression work and coefficient of performance of refrigeration equpment for both R-134a and R-430a are obtained by experimentation. These performances comparison between R-134a and R-430a is made in case of the maximum load. Refrigeration effect for R-134a and that for R-430a is almost equal while compression work for R-134a is less than that for R-430a. Consequently it shows that coefficient of performance for R-134a is relatively 11% higher than that for R-430a.

  • An experiment study on pressure drop was carried out for both an adiabatic and a diabatic two-phase flow with pure refrigerants R134a and Rl23 and their mixtures as test fluids in a uniformly heated horizontal tube. The frictional pressure drop during flow boiling is predicted by using two models; the homogeneous model that assumes equal phase velocity and the separate flow model that allows a slip velocity between two phases. The measured frictional pressure drop was compared to a few available correlations. Homogeneous model considerally underpredicted the present data for mixture as well as pure component in the entire mass velocity ranges employed in the present study, while Friedel correlation was found to satisfactorily correlate the frictional pressure drop data as compared to other correlation.
