  • This paper deals with an exit strip gauge controller design for a cold rolling mill process with one input and two outputs. In order to attenuate the exit strip gauge variation caused by the Back-up roll eccentricity and the entry guage variation, an H$_{\infty}$ controller design methodology is used to keep the frequency weighted mixed sensitivity function small.   • In this paper, a decoupler of tandem cold rolling mill is designed. Before designing the decoupler, this paper improved conventional linear model by considering friction and yield stress of rolling strip. In a stand, the decoupler let an output be controlled by an input. And even if states of other stands should be changed, current stand takes no interference from those changes. In addition, with the same method, a feedforward controller is designed for an input strip thickness error. Finally, performance of controllers above is shown with nonlinear simulation.

  • Tribology라는 용어는 마찰, 마모, 윤활의 과학, 기술을 한마디로 나타내는 말이다. 우리들의 일상생활, 산업활동, 특히 소성가공에서 Tribology의 역할의 중요성은 새삼 강조할 필요가 없다. 본 고에서는 냉간압연, 단조, 인발 등에 Tribology를 응용하는 입장에서 Tribology system의 일부를 공구와 재료의 윤활제를 게재한 micro 접촉상황을 중심으로 분류 정리하고, 이것과 공업적 소성가공에서 공구 재료 접촉면현상과 그 연계를 가능한 한 이해하기 쉽게 서술하였다. 이를 통하여 소성가공 기술자 및 연구자가 소성가공의 목적을 달성하는 가운데, Tribology적으로 양호한 결과를 경제적으로 얻고자 하는 시행, 개발, 연구에 대해 도움이 되고자 한다.

Ni-Cr-Fe-합금에서 Cr 함량 변화의 영향

  • Cr 함량이 alloy 600과 alloy 690의 Cr함량 사이에 위치하는 Ni-Cr-Fe 합금을 진공유도 용해법을 이용하여 제조하였다. 합금 인고트에 대하여 열간 가공성 시험을 수행하여 열간 압연 조건을 구하였다. 열간 및 냉간 압연을 거친 시편을 900~120$0^{\circ}C$ 사이의 여러 온도에서 소둔 열처리하였고, 열처리한 시편에 대하여 기계적 특성과 부식특성을 측정, 분석하였다. Cr 함량은 기계적 강도에는 다소 영향을 미치는 것이 발견되었으나 연신율에는 거의 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 부식속도는 Cr 함량 변화보다 소둔 열처리 온도에 따라 증가하였으며, 110$0^{\circ}C$ 에서 열처리한 경우에는 부식속도가 얼마간 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • A hot press method was use for the optimal manufacturing condition for a shape memory alloy(SMA) composite. The bonding between the matrix and the reinforcement within the SMA composite by the hot press method was strengthened by cold rolling. In this study, the objective was to develop an on-line monitoring system for the prevention of the crack initiation and propagation by shape memory effort of SMA composite. Shape memory effect was used to prevent the SMA composite from cracking. For the system to be developed, an optimal hE parameter should be determined based on the degree of damage and crack initiation. When the SHA composite was heated by the plate heater attached at the composite, the propagating cracks appeared to be controlled by the compressive force of SMA.

  • Tensile residual stress is occurred by difference of coefficients of thermal expansion between fiber and matrix is one of the serious problems in metal matrix composite(MMC). TiNi alloy fiber was used to solve the problem of the tensile residual stress as the reinforced material. TiNi alloy fiber improves the tensile strength of composite with occurring of compressive residual stress in the matrix by its shape memory effect. A hot press method was used to create the optimal fabrication condition for a Shape Memory Alloy(SMA) composite. The bonding effect of the matrix and the reinforcement within the SMA composite by the hot press method was strengthened by cold rolling. In addition, acoustic emission technique was used to quantify the microscopic damage behavior of cold rolled TiNi/A16061 shape memory alloy composite at low temperature. The damage degree for the specimen that underwent thermal shock cycles was also discussed.

  • Pipe rolling process using the planetary rolling mill for AISI 304 stainless steel has been studied by using finite element method. Mannesmann method using three-roll is applied to this rolling process. Commonly, rolling process has started from the cold working and finished to the hot working. This rolling process has more advantage that make reduction of process and cost than existing extrusion process. This process includes various and complex process parameters. Each of the process parameters affects forming result. Therefore, all of the process parameters should be considered in FEA. In this study, possibility and productivity of forming pipe for AISI 304 stainless steel had been investigated. Also, preheating process and variations of rotation velocity and product thickness were considered in FEA. Rolling process for AISI 304 stainless steel pipe was successfully simulated and it should be useful to determine optimal rolling condition.

Shapes and Deformation of the Hydrogen Absorption Metal (수소저장금속의 형상과 변형)

  • Deformation on shapes of the hydrogen absorption metal in this paper was investigated on hydrogen absorption-desorption cycling. In order to study this problem, the cold rolled palladium plate and the cold extrusion palladium bar as specimens had been used. By using the electrochemical method, the palladium specimens were cyclically hydrogenated in the 0.1 mol H$_2$SO$_4$ electrolyte. As results, it is noted that the thickness of the plate specimen gradually increased in increasing hydrogenation cycles whereas the width and the length decreased. But both the diameter and the length of the bar specimen increased with increasing hydrogenation cycles. Also, grains in the plate specimen were greatly deformed after hydrogenation cycling whereas internal grains in the bar specimen were pulverized. And deterioration of the hydrogen absorption rate of the bar specimen was lager than the plate specimen.
