Measurement of Laminar Burning Velocity of Endothermic Fuel Surrogates (흡열분해 모사연료의 층류화염 전파속도 측정)

  • The laminar burning velocity of endothermic fuel surrogates is measured in this study, in order to investigate combustion characteristics of aviation fuel after being used as coolant in an active cooling system of a hypersonic flight vehicle. A Bunsen burner was manufactured such that the laminar burning velocity can be taken for two types of surrogate fuels, SF-1 and 2. The results showed that the burning velocity of surrogate fuels was faster at high equivalence ratio conditions than that of the reference fuel (RF), and specifically, the velocity of SF-1 had the maximum value at the highest equivalence ratio compared with those of SF-2 and RF.

Status of Packaging Materials for Frozen Foods and Analysis of Temperature Changes inside Packaging Materials during Frozen Process (냉동식품용 포장재 현황 및 냉동 과정 중 포장재 내부 온도 변화에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzed various packaging materials and types for frozen foods and the effects of packaging materials on temperature changes during frozen process. Pouches with different film thickness were prepared and placed in an IQF freezer, then the temperature inside pouches measured using a deep thermometer. The most common types of primary packaging for frozen foods in the market was plastic pouches with polyethylene or polyamide/polyethylene multilayer materials. The temperature change inside of packaging was delayed with film thickness increased. As the size of packaged food increased, the temperature change inside the food was slowed down. In addition, the pouches with air inside took more time to reach $-30^{\circ}C$ compared to pouches with less air during frozen process. This study provides information on packaging materials and types for frozen foods and preliminary data of temperature change by different types of packaging.

  • 극초음속 여객기와 군사용 항공기에 대한 수요가 증가함에 따라서 새로운 개념의 다양한 추진기관이 연구가 진행되고 개발되어 왔다. 초음속 항공기의 속도 영역은 마하 10-20 정도가 되는데 이 속도 한계를 극복하기 위하여 초음속 연소 램제트 엔진(SCRamjet; Supersonic Combustion Ramjet)이 제안되었다. 스크램 제트를 개발하기 위해서는 연료와 산화제의 혼합 효율 문제, 화염의 안정화 문제, 벽면의 냉각에 관한 문제 등 몇 가지 기본적인 문제들을 해결해야 한다. Univ of Michigan에서 실험한 연소기를 모델로 본 연구에서는 연료와 공기의 혼합에 관한 수치 연구를 수행하였다. 다원 혼합기체에 관한 축대칭 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 지배 방정식을 이용하였고 비평형 화학반응식을 고려하였다. 공간 차분에는 유한 체적법을 이용하였다. 대류 플럭스 항은 Roe의 Upwind FDS 기법을 사용하여 차분하였고 점성항에는 중심 차분법을 이용하였다. 시간 적분법으로는 근사 자코비안과 LU분할 기법을 이용한 완전 내재적 방법이 쓰였다. 난류 모델로는 Mentor에 의해 제안된 2 방정식 k-$\varepsilon$/k-$\omega$ 혼합모델을 사용하였다. 유동장이 실험에서의 찍은 사진과 유사한 모습의 충격파 간섭을 수치 모사하였고 수소가 확산되는 모습과 함께 노즐 lip 주위의 재순환 영역에 대해서 살펴볼 수 있었다.

  • In this study, an analysis of the thermo-fluid dynamic and missile-motion performance was carried out through a numerical simulation inside the missile canister. Calculation was made in an analytical volume using dynamic grid and evaporated water was used as a coolant. To analyze the interaction among the hot gas, coolant, and mixture flow, Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence and VOF (Volume Of Fluid) model were chosen and a parametric study was performed with the change of coolant flow rate. As a result of the analysis, pressure of the canister showed a large difference depending on the presence or absence of the coolant, and also showed a dependancy on the amount of coolant. Velocity and acceleration were dependent on the canister pressure.

  • The object qf this experiment was the evaluation of the growth rate of frost layer conditioned by inlet air's velocity, temperature and relative humidity on the copper tube in evaporator. In this experiment, the inlet air's velocity were $0.3^m/_s,\;0.6^m/_s,\;0.9^m/_s,$ temperature were $15^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C$ and the variation of relative humidity was $70\%~90\%$. And the brine temperature flowing through the copper tubes was kept $-15{\circ}C$ because generally cooling temperature range is constantly $-15^{\circ}C$ in the heat exchanger for air conditioning system It was found that the amount of frost generation increased so that the relative humidity, velocity and temperature of supply air increased.

밀폐형 압축기의 소음진동에 대한 연구 예와 시급한 연구과제에 관하여

  • 압축기의 종류는 크게 dynamic type과 positive displacement type으로 우선 나눌 수 있다. 전자는 제트엔진에 사용되는 압축기에서 보는 바와 같이 기체의 속도를 변화시켜 동압을 정압으로 바꾸어 압력을 얻는 경우이다. 후자는 기체를 둘러싼 체적을 줄여서 압력을 얻는데 가전제품에 쓰이는 냉각용 압축기의 대부분의 종류가 이에 해당된다. 압축 기체의 종류에 따라 공기 압축기, 가스 압축기, 냉각용 압축기로도 나눌 수 있겠다. 냉각용 압축기는 다시 여러 가지 방법으로 분류할 수 있겠지만, 구동 모타의 용량이나 냉각 용량에 따라, 대형, 소형으로 분류하거나, 압축기를 둘러싼 셀의 구조에 따라 밀폐형과 반 밀폐형으로 나눌 수 있다. 밀폐형은 냉매를 반 영구적으로 보충할 필요가 없도록 용접형 셀을 가진 구조로 압축기를 다시 열어서 보수할 수가 없다. 냉장고나 냉방기 같은 가전 제품에 쓰이는 압축기는 대부분 소형 밀폐형이 되겠다. 산업용의 중,대형 압축기는 보수의 목적으로, 자동차 냉방용 압축기는 동력이 엔진축에서 공급되는 구조 상의 이유로 반 밀폐형이 채택된다. 보수가 사실상 불가능한 밀폐형의 구조 상 소형 냉장용 압축기는 거의 무한 수명을 감안한 설계를 요하게 되고, 이것이 압축기의 보수적인 설계 및 개발 성향에 어느 정도 영향을 주었다고 볼 수 있다. 이런 소형 밀폐형 압축기(positive displacement, fractional horsepower, hermetic compressor)에 관한 연구의 소개가 이 글의 주 관심이 되겠다. 압력을 얻기 위해 체적을 변화시키는 mechanism도 여러 가지가 있는 바, 왕복동식 피스톤(reciprocating piston) 압축기가 가장 오랫동안 사용되어 온 구조이다. 회전식으로 압축을 얻는 방식으로는 로타리 피스톤식, 스크류식, 스크롤식 압축기가 있다. 로타리 피스톤(rotary piston)식 압축기는 약 20여년 전 부터 냉방용 압축기에서부터 널리 쓰이게 되었다. 약 10여년전부터 상용화 된 스크롤(scroll) 형 압축기도 현재 상대적으로 용량이 큰 가정용 냉방기를 중심으로 많이 쓰이고 있다. 스크류형 압축기는 보통 중대형 상업용에 주로 쓰인다.

Evaluation of the Economics of High Speed Machining Considering Environmental Effects (환경영향을 고려한 고속절삭가공의 경제성 평가)

  • In this study, high speed machining is evaluated with regard to economical and environmental effects. Considering environmental loads, machining costs are analyzed with the mathematical models of machining economics and cutting fluid loss. Data from the tool life experiments of high speed milling and turning are used for the analysis. The analysis of high speed milling shows that the machining cost decreases as increasing the cutting speed. In turning process, the cooling method using cutting fluid shows the minimum machining cost. Considering both machining and environmental costs, cooling method using cold air is superior to other methods.

  • As hypersonic flight speeds and engines efficiencies increase, heat loads on an aircraft and it's engine increase. Because the temperature of the air flow is too high to cool the aircraft structure at hypersonic flight speeds, it is essential to use the aircraft fuel as the primary coolant. Endothermic fuels are liquid hydrocarbon aircraft fuels which are able to absorb the heat loads by undergoing endothermic reactions, such as thermal and catalytic cracking. The endothermic reactions are improved by catalysts which change the extent of reaction and product distribution. At high temperature, liquid hydrocarbons would lead to coke formation that can reduce the effectiveness of heat exchanger and cause rapid degradation of the catalyst, thus endothermic capacity of endothermic fuels is limited to the temperature at which coke doesn't form. In this study, the essential cooling technologies by applying endothermic fuels and the properties of the endothermic fuels are described.

A Design of Temperature Management System for Preventing High Temperature Failures on Mobility Dedicated Storage (모빌리티 전용 저장장치의 고온 고장 방지를 위한 온도 관리 시스템 설계)

  • With the rapid growth of mobility technology, the industrial sector is demanding storage devices that can reliably process data from various equipment and sensors in vehicles. NAND flash memory is being utilized as a storage device in mobility environments because it has the advantages of low power and fast data processing speed as well as strong external shock resistance. However, flash memory is characterized by data corruption due to long-term exposure to high temperatures. Therefore, a dedicated system for temperature management is required in mobility environments where high temperature exposure due to weather or external heat sources such as solar radiation is frequent. This paper designs a dedicated temperature management system for managing storage device temperature in a mobility environment. The designed temperature management system is a hybrid of traditional air cooling and water cooling technologies. The cooling method is designed to operate adaptively according to the temperature of the storage device, and it is designed not to operate when the temperature step is low to improve energy efficiency. Finally, experiments were conducted to analyze the temperature difference between each cooling method and different heat dissipation materials, proving that the temperature management policy is effective in maintaining performance.

  • Advances in high speed flight technologies and engine efficiencies increase heat load on the aircraft. As the temperature of air flow is too high to cool the structure at hypersonic flight speeds, it is necessary to utilize the aircraft fuel as the primary coolant. By undergoing endothermic reaction, such as thermal decomposition or catalytic decomposition, aircraft fuels have heat sink potential. These fuels are called endothermic fuels. The endothermic reaction can be improved by catalysts, but limited by coke deposition. In this study the essential technologies of endothermic fuels are described, and intended to be used for basic research.
