Non-Intrusive Speech Quality Estimation of G.729 Codec using a Packet Loss Effect Model (G.729 코덱의 패킷 손실 영향 모델을 이용한 비 침입적 음질 예측 기법)

  • This paper proposes a non-intrusive speech quality estimation method considering the effects of packet loss to perceptual quality. Packet loss is a major reason of quality degradation in a packet based speech communications network, whose effects are different according to the input speech characteristics or the performance of the embedded packet loss concealment (PLC) algorithm. For the quality estimation system that involves packet loss effects, we first observe the packet loss of G.729 codec which is one of narrowband codec in VoIP system. In order to quantify the lost packet affects, we design a classification algorithm only using speech parameters of G.729 decoder. Then, the degradation values of each class are iteratively selected that maximizes the correlation with the degradation PESQ-LQ scores, and total quality degradation is modeled by the weighted sum. From analyzing the correlation measures, we obtained correlation values of 0.8950 for the intrusive model and 0.8911 for the non-intrusive method.

  • As the system development environment moves from single core to multi core-based platforms, it becomes more important to maintain compatibility between single core-based implementations and multi core-based implementations. Moreover, it is very important to support real-time on multi core platforms especially in cases of embedded software or test equipments which need real-time as well as correctness. Since Windows operating system dopes not support real-time in itself, it has been supporting real-time using expensive third-party solutions such as RTX or INtime. So as to reduce this kind of development expenses, in this paper, we propose RTiK-MP(Real-Time implant Kernel-Multi Processor) which supports real-time on Windows using the Local APIC of x86 architectures, and evaluate the performance of the proposed RTiK-MP after deploying it on portable missile test equipments.

  • In this paper, we present a signal analysis environment with visual programming capability, which is called Signal Analysis and Visualization Environment( SAVE). The system allows a user to perform visually programmed analysis of signals and visualize the results. The visualization facility enables the user to compare original signals with processed ones arid also to display signals overlaid synchronously with the events extracted from the signals. The SAVE system has an extensible architecture: each signal processing algorithm is implemented as a separate building block object module, which can be freely added or removed from the SAVE system without any code modification. We describe the overall structure of the SAVE system and the building block objects, which provide the extensibility in collaboration with together. We illustrate some test runs in order to five a taste of how to use and where to use the system.

  • 21세기를 접하면서 산업전자 분야의 비약적인 발전과 함께 과학문명은 눈부시게 발전해 나아가고 있다. 이것의 원천은 바로 전기(Electric)이다. 우리는 풍요로운 삶 자체를 전기 공급에서 누리고 있으며 또 비극적인 사태를 맞이할 때도 있다. 즉, 전기기기를 이용하면 원하건 원치 않건 전자기파가 발생이 된다 이것이 자연현상이며 전자기파는 IT, BT, CT를 비롯하여 산업 전체에 많은 영향을 미치고 있다. 일반적으로 우리가 말하는 전자기파 장해의 기본 요소는 노이즈원(잡음원), 경로매체, 피해장치 등으로 구성되는 데 잡음원(Noise Source)은 각종 시스템에서 구성되고 있는 전자기 에너지의 발생원으로 볼 수 있으며 이 발생원에서 경로매체(금속:전도성, 대기중:전파성 등)를 통하여 피해장치(전기전자통신기기류)에 방해를 주고 있는 상태를 전자기파 장해라고 설명할 수 있다. 전자기파 잡음원에서 경로를 거쳐 전자기파에 대하여 피해장치가 안정된 상태로 동작하도록 규정하는 용어 즉, 전자파 양립성 또는 적합성 (EMC : Electro Magnetic Compatibility))이란 용어를 가지고 전기 전자 통신기기에서 발생되는 불필요한 전자파와 전자파 내성시험을 만족하도록 의무화하고 있다. EMC 는 EMI (불요 전자파 또는 전자파 간섭 : Electro Magnetic Interference) + EMS (전자파 내성 : Electro Magnetic Susceptibility) 2가지 시험을 함께 전자파 적합성 (EMC) 시험으로 표현되고 있다. 전자파 적합성 시험의 목적으로 EMl는 전도성 또는 전파성에 대한 주파수 대역(잡음)을 보호하기 위한 것이 목적이고 EMS는 프로세서가 내장된 기기류의 오동작을 방지하기 위하여 감응평가를 하는 것이다. 즉, 감응(Susceptibility)이란 어떤 장비나 시스템이 전자기파 장해에 쉽게 영향을 받는 것을 뜻하는 데 전자파 장해를 견디면서 본래의 기능을 충분하게 발휘하며 동작할 수 있는 능력을 말한다.

Synthesis of Multiplexed MACE Filter for Optical Korean Character Recognition (인쇄체 한글의 광학적 인식을 위한 다중 MACE 필터의 합성)

  • For the efficient recognition of printed Korean characters, a multiplexed minimum average correlation energy(MMACE) filter is proposed. Proposed method solved the disadvantages of the tree structure algorithm which recognition system is very huge and recognition method is sophisticated. Using only one consonant MMACE filter and one vowel one, we recognized the full Korean character. Each MMACE filter is multiplexed by 4 K-tuple MACE filters which are synthesized by 24 consonants and vowels. Hence the proposed MMACE filter and the correlation distribution plane are divided by 4 subregion. We obtained the binary codes for the Korean character recognition from each correlation distribution subplane. And the obtained codes are compared with the truth table for consonants and vowels in computer. We can recognize the full Korean characters when substitute the corresponded consonant or vowel font of the consistent code to the correlation peak place in the output correlation plane. The computer simulation and optical experiment results show that the proposed compact Korean character recognition system using the MMACE filters has high discrimination capability.

  • DSRC provides high speed radio link between Road Side Equipment and On-Board Equipment within the narrow communication area. In this paper, a 5.8 GHz down-conversion mixer for DSRC communication system was designed and fabricated using 0.8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ SiGe HBT process technology and RF/LO matching circuits, RF/LO input balun circuits, and If output balun circuit were all integrated on chip. The chip size of fabricated mixer was 1.9 mm${\times}$1.3 mm and the measured performance was 7.5 ㏈ conversion gain, -2.5 ㏈m input IP3, 46 ㏈ LO to RF isolation, 56 ㏈ LO to IF isolation, current consumption of 21 mA for 3.0 V supply voltage.

  • This paper suggests a modeling technique for shape and volume prediction of fishes to cut them with identical weights for group meals. The measurement and prediction of frozen fishes for group meals are very difficult because they have a bending deformation occurring at frozen stage and a hollow by eliminating the internals. Besides there exist twinkles problem of surface caused by freeze and variable weights by moisture conditions. Therefore a complex estimation algorithm is necessary to predict the shape and volume prediction of fishes exactly. Hollow prediction, pattern classification and modeling for tails using neural network, integration based volume prediction algorithm are suggested and combined to solve those problems. In order to validate the proposed method, the experiments of 3-dimensional measurement, volume prediction and fish cutting for spanish mackerel, saury, and mackerel are executed. The cutting experiments for real fish are executed.

  • In this paper, we implement a distributed computing environment-based travel information service that can use web(internet) and speech interface at the same time and can apply location information, using voice and web browser-based VoiceXML and GPS, to escape the limitations of traditional web(internet)-based travel information services. Because of IVR(Interactive Voice Response) of traditional call center has operated to a pre-installation scenario, it takes much a service time and has the inconveniences that must repeat speech recording according to the revised scenarios in case change response contents. However, suggested VoiceXML and GPS-based travel information service system has advantages that reorganization of system setups is easy, because it consists of the method to update server after make individual conversation scenarios by file format(document), and can provide usefully various travel information in environmental restriction conditions such as the back regions environment, according as our prototype find user's present location using GPS information and then provide various travel information service by this information.

  • A non-functional requirement is a property or quality that the proposed systems have to support the functional requirements. A non-functional requirement is reflected by quality attribute These non-functional requirements playa crucial role during system development, serving as selection criteria for choosing among decisions. It should be continuously considered through the software development process. In spite of the importance of the non-functional requirements, it received little attention because of ambiguousness and invisibility of non-functional requirements. Therefore non-functional model which is a process to analyze the non-functional requirement is proposed for improving the management efficiency of non-functional requirements. Also, this paper presents the trace among the UML diagrams to the conceptual model. According to the non-functional requirement development process, this paper achieved performance-based case study. After then, non-functional requirement should be traced using the UML diagrams.
