  • A valve's high response for controlling thruster is essential for rapid turning during initial short moment after launching. The actuator for controlling the valve is simultaneously used in controlling canard of a guided missile. This paper explain development process for the electromechanical actuator interlocked with canard by arranging in following order, design, analysis, manufacture, test and evaluation.

A sliding mode control of an electro-mechanical fin actuation system using extended reducer-observer(ERO) (확장형 감소차수 관측기를 이용한 전기식 조종날개 구동장치의 슬라이딩 모드 제어)

  • The objective of this paper is to design a sliding mode controller of an electro-mechanical fin actuation system using extended reducer-observer(ERO) which is used in order to estimate the velocity. The employed observer enables proper estimation of the plant state variables, even in the case of the constant or slow varying load torque disturbances. The effectiveness of this control scheme is verified by comparison with a PID control through a series of simulation studies. The simulation results show that the sliding mode control designed with the ERO gives good control performances.

  • In the missile actuator system, the time and position of the wings of the drive device are very important factors in the initial maneuver of the missile, and therefore, the missile actuator device must be inspected while ensuring the accuracy and real-time of motion collection data of the actuator. In this study, the difference between the design and implementation method for checking the existing actuator device and the design implementation method of the actuator device through the DAQ(Data Acquisition) device is compared, and the difference in data collection amount and real-time data collection performance is compared and tested, and the data shown through actual tests are compared. is converted into a graph, the actuator waveform is compared and analyzed, and based on the analyzed data, DAQ device inspection configuration that guarantees real-time response speed and stability during inspection of existing actuators and DAQ devices is proposed.

A Study on the Torque Control Method of a Hydraulic Actuation System for Measuring the Dynamic Stiffness of Missile Fin Actuators (유도무기용 날개구동기의 동적 강성 측정을 위한 유압 구동장치의 토크제어 기법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a torque control method of a hydraulic actuation system for measuring the dynamic stiffness of missile fin actuators. We propose a new control technique called Dual Dynamic Torque Feedback Control(DDTFC), which improves the stability of the torque control system and enables fast tracking of torque command. The developed control scheme is derived from the physical understanding based on mathematical modelling and analysis. The dynamics of hydraulic torque control servo-system is unravelled via physics-based modelling and nonparametric system identification. In order to verify the effectiveness of the method, the experiment is carried out with a test equipment for measuring the dynamic stiffness. The experiment and simulation results show that DDTFC gives stability improvement.

  • In this study, we researched control compensation techniques to enhance control robustness against external forces and responsiveness to output dead zones in direct-actuated voice coil actuators for small guided missiles. An aircraft's wings must optimally control the command angle while managing various nonlinear external forces such as drag, lift, and thrust during flight. The small direct -drive voice coil actuator, when applied, benefits from small current requirements in no-load situations but suffers from diminished control robustness due to rapid increases in control current during external force applications. To address this issue, we designed and implemented a system that compensates for errors by accumulating additional output, thus improving the actuator's responsiveness in control scenarios with external forces. This was verified through experimental results.

  • Electromechanical Actuator(EMA) for flight vehicles generally serves to control the fin deflection angle or the thrust vector angle. This paper deals with design and development of EMA for both aerodynamic control and thrust vector control. In this paper, a novel compact EMA is proposed that can simultaneously control both the tail fin and the jet vane with one actuator and detach the jet vane after vertical launch and rapid turn of the flight vehicle so as to increase efficiency during flying to target. To do this, we designed the EMA using a push-push link mechanism and derived a mathematical model. The mathematical model is validated by comparing simulation result and experimental data. The performance and reliability of the proposed EMA have been verified through performance test, environmental test and ground test. The proposed EMA is expected to be useful as an EMA for flight vehicles because of its simple and compact structure, as well as its performance and reliability.

  • 반사형 전동 블라인드는 BEMS(Building Energy Management System)에 이용되는 조명 에너지 절감 장치로서, 블라인드 날개를 반사형 재질로 제작하여, 외부 채광이 블라인드 날개에 반사되어 천장에 반사되고 반사된 빛은 천장에서 확산되어 실내 깊숙이 부드럽고 균일한 조도를 공급해 준다. 이를 이용하면, 실내 거주자의 불편함 없이 실내 인공조명 사용량을 줄일 수 있다. 이를 구현하기 위해서는 태양광선의 고도의 변화에 따라 블라인드의 제어 각도를 계산하여 블라인드 제어 전동 모터를 구동해야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 외부 채광을 실내 천장 면에 균일하게 반사할 수 있는 블라인드 날개의 제어 각도의 최적 조건을 제시하고, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 제시한 블라인드 날개 각도의 최적성을 검증하였다.

  • Electro-Mechanical Actuator installed on the aircraft plays a key role in an aircraft's flight control through flight control computer. Reliable prediction of the actuator is important for the aircraft. To estimate the lifetime of a product, it is necessary to test full target life. However, it is very difficult to perform it due to the long life time of actuator but short period of development time with increasing cost. Therefore, accelerated life test has been used to reduce the test time for various reasons such as reducing product's development cycle and cost. In this paper, to predict the lifetime of the actuator, we analyzed the flight profile of aircraft and adapted the method of accelerated life test in order to accelerate failure modes that might occur under user conditions. We also set up an endurance test equipment for validating the demanded lifetime of an actuator and performed accelerated life test.

  • In this paper the aeroacoustic characteristics of a helicopter main rotor system is measured by using a pair of scaled rotor blades. A low noise rotor test jig is developed for noise measurement and the rotational speed, thrust and torque are measured simultaneously in order to match the aerodynamic conditions with the full scale rotor. The accuracy of the force measurement device was checked through a calibration procedure. The measured thurst and torque with a 1.2m rotor are compared to the results of analytical prediction and showed that the thrust data at various rotational speed followed the prediction relatively well, but the torque data considered less accurate. It is also found that the background noise level of the test rig is sufficiently low, and the measured noise level from the rotor can be scaled with rotor tip speed. However, the Mach number dependancy and the directivity changes depend on the noise source characteristics.

Optimization of ejector for swirl flow using CFD (CFD를 이용한 회전 운동을 하는 이젝터의 최적화)

  • This paper investigates the effect of the rotational motion of a driving fluid generated by a rotational motion device at the inlet of a driving nozzle for a gas-liquid ejector, which is the main device used for ozonated ship ballast water treatment. An experimental apparatus was constructed to study the pressure and suction flow rate of each port of the ejector according to the back pressure. Experimental data were acquired for the ejector without rotational motion. Based on the data, a finite element model was then developed. The rotational motion of the driving fluid could improve the suction efficiency of the ejector based on the CFD model. Based on the CFD results, structure optimization was performed for the internal shape of the rotation induction device to increase the suction flow rate of the ejector, which was performed using the kriging technique and a metamodel. The optimized rotation induction device improved the ejector efficiency by about 3% compared to an ejector without rotational motion of the driving fluid.
