Study on the Analysis of Corneal Variation by Refractive Error (굴절이상에 의한 각막 변화도 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this Study investigated corneal power, corneal astigmatism and corneal axis according to spherical equivalent of refractive error. We measured spherical equivalent, corneal power and corneal astigmatism in 100 subjects from January 2014 to July 2014. Measured spherical equivalent of refractive error were $-3.01{\pm}3.79D$, corneal power of $43.79{\pm}1.60D$ and corneal astigmatism of $-1.17{\pm}0.79D$ respectively. Prevalence of spherical equivalent of refractive error were as follows : myopes (61%), emmetropes (22%), hyperopes(17%). Corneal astigmatism of refractive error greater than +0.75D was 63% and prevalence of corneal astigmatism were as follows : with-the-rlue astigmatism (84.13%), against-the-rule astigmatism(9.52%) respectively. Corneal power by spherical equivalent increased from hyperopia to myopia. Between spherical equivalent of refractive error and the mean corneal power was significant correlation(r=-0.25, p=0.01). A correlation were found between corneal power and spherical equivalent of refractive error in adults. They have the highest distribution of prevalence myopia among the refractive error. When the refractive error was increased, we found that corneal power was steeper. It is recognized that this can be refractive error factor and correct visual function is considered.

The Study of the Abnormal Refraction Eye on the Women Middle and High school Students (여자 중·고등학생들의 굴절이상 눈에 대한 연구)

  • To investigate the visual acuity of the women middle and high school students, the visual acuity test was performed the object and subject methods. The results were as follows; 1. The eye types were 96.7% positive for myopia, 2.5% for emmetropia, and 0.8% for hyperopia, respectively. 2. The abnormal refraction eyes were 61% positive for simple myopia, 35.2% for myopitic compound astigmatism, 3% for myopic simple astigmatism, and 0.8% for simple presbyopia, respectively. 3. Expectation of Astigmatism by Spherical Equivalent Visual Acuity (등가구면 시력으로부터 난시량의 예측)

  • Purpose: This study was tried whether expectation of astigmatism from spherical equivalent visual acuity was possible. Methods: For 54 men and women (108 eyes) corrected to emmetropia, average age of 23.3, changes of visual acuity (5m) were measured with an increasing the powers at every ${\pm}$0.25D when the (-) axis of cross cylinder is $180^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, and $45^{\circ}$, respectively. Results: As the power of cross cylinder was increased, visual acuity was decreased. When the powers of cross cylinder were ${\pm}$2.50D ($180^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$) and ${\pm}$2.25D ($45^{\circ}$), visual acuity was 0.05 which is the minimum measurement possible. Conclusions: The diagram on astigmatism dealing with each spherical equivalent visual acuity was able to tabulate.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the accurate information on improvement of visual life by examining old age's eye refraction state and investigating distribution of ametropia in old age. The test was performed the visual acuity test by object and subject methods to over 60 years of age. The results were as follows: 1. As the result to investigate the inconvenience degree of visual life, the subjects appealed 81% for very inconvenience and 14% for a little inconvenience. 5% of them didn't feel any inconvenience in visual life. 2. The eye types were 1.7% for emmetropia, 10% for myopia, 74.7% for hyperopia, and 13.6% mixed astigmatism, respectively. 3. The axis of astigmatisms were 65% positive for indirect astigmatism, 8% for direct astigmatism, and 27% for oblique astigmatism, respectively.

  • To have a fine understand the refractive error eye of Korean adult male, This study was researched visual acuity test using objuctive and subjective methods. The results are as follows: 1. The eye types were 93.3% positive for myopia, 5.4% for emmetropia, and 1.7 forhyperopia, respectively. 2. The refractive error eye was positive for compound myoptic astigmatism for a percntage of 62.6%, simple myopia(32.4%), simple myoptic astigmatism(1.6%), simple hyperopia(l.4%) simple hyperopia astigmatism(0.5%), and mixed astigmatism(1.6%). 3.   • The old age may experienced the visual acuity decrease according to refraction abnormality and they have a inconvenient real life style on viewing condition. So that, This study can provide the accurate information on the treatment of visual acuity of a male old ages by test of eye refraction state. The test was performed the visual acuity test by the object and subject methods.and the subjects was the Korean male over 55 old age. The eye types were 0.8 % positive for emmetropia, 15.2 % for myopia, and 84 % for hyperopia, respectively. The abnormal refraction eyes were 1.3 % positive for simple myopic astigmatism, 13.9 % for compound myopic astigmatism. 3.4 % for simple hyperopia and 3.1 % for simple hyperopic astigmatism, 77.5 % for mixed astigmatism, respectively. The asix of astigmatisms were 62% positive for against-the-rule astigmatism, 6% for with-the rule astigmatism, and 32 % for oblique astigmatism, respectively. On the total myopic spherical power, the $-0.50{\leq}$spheric equivalent <-2.00 diopter was 84.3%, the $-2.00{\leq}$spherical equivalent <-6.00.diopter was 15.7%. On the total hyperopic spherical power, the $+0.50{\leq}$spheric equivalent <+2.00 diopter was 74.2%, the $+2.00{\leq}$spherical equivalent <+6.00 diopter was 24.8%, and anything over the +6.00 diopter was 1%. On the astigmatic power, the $0.5{\leq}$cylinder <1.00 diopter was 54.1%, the $1.00{\leq}$cylinder <2.00 diopter was 32.4%, and anything over the 2.00 cylinder diopter was 13.5%.

A Study on the Exchange of Frames (안경테 교환에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to survey the exchange of frames on 83 persons. We investigated frame size, frame type, binocular prism effect etc. 80.4% among motives of frame-exchanges was a damage or corrosion. The type of frames was round-like 62.4% and 37.6% square-like. The size of frames was $49{\Box}18$ and vertical length 33mm on old-frames, $47{\Box}17$ and 31mm on new-frames. The scope of axis variation was average +3.20~3.80. According to estimation by the rule of RAL-RG 915, the inappropriate horizontal prism effect of new spectacles was 42.2%, more than 38.5% on old spectacles. The inappropriate vertical prism effect was 24.1% on old, 33.7% on new spectacles.

  • The corneal structure and function changes somewhat with aging. We were performed the analysis of women college students on the base curve, power, and astigmatism axis of the cornea by keratometer. All women subjects were between the ages of 19 and 20 years. On the corneal base curve. the right eye of the ages of 19 was 7.64 mm in vertical and 7.81 mm in horizontal. But, the left eye was 7.65 mm in vertical and 7.83 mm in horizontal on the other hand, the right and left eye of the ages of 20 was 7.72 mm in vertical and 7.75 mm in horizontal. On the corneal diopter power, the right eye of the ages of 19 was 44.21 diopter in vertical and 43.32 diopter in horizontal. But, the left eye was 44.23 diopter in vertical and 43.24 diopter in horizontal. On the other hand, the right eye of the ages of 20 was 43.67 diopter in vertical and 43.62 diopter in horizontal. But, the left eye was 43.73 diopter in vertical and 43.6 diopter in horizontal. According to the corneal astigmatism axis style, the right eye of the ages of 19 have 83% positive for with the rule astigmatism, and 16% positive for against the rule astigmatism. But, the left eye of the ages of 19 have 86% positive for with the rule astigmatism, and 12% positive for against the rule astigmatism. On the other hand, the right eye of the ages of 19 have 56% positive for with the rule astigmatism, and 44 % positive for against the rule astigmatism. But, the left eye of the ages of 20 have 56% positive for with the rule astigmatism, and 41% positive for against the rule astigmatism. According to the diopter power of corneal astigmatism. The right eye of the ages of 19 have 36% positive for behind 1 diopter and left eye have 31%. But, the right and left eye of the ages of 20 have 37.5%. The right and left eye of the ages of 19 have 42% positive for 1 diopter, and the right eye of the ages of 20 have 34.4% positive for 1 diopter and the left eye have 43.8%. The right eye of the ages of 19 have 12% positive for 2 diopter and left eye have 22%. But, the right eye of the ages of 20 have 15.6% positive for 2 diopter and the left eye have 12%. The right eye of the ages of 19 have 4% positive for 3 diopter and left eye have 3%. But, the left eye of the ages of 20 have 3% positive for 3 diopter and the left eye have 6%. On the other hand, the right eye of ages of 19 have 6% positive over 4 diopter, and the left eye have 2%. But, the right eye of ages of 20 have only 9% positive over 4 diopter.

Analysis of Axial Mis-alignment After Wearing of Toric Soft Contact Lenses (토릭소프트콘택트렌즈의 착용 후 축 정렬 상태의 변화 분석)

  • Purpose: To emphasize the necessity of post-fitting by follow-up test, the mis-alignment was analyzed after initial wearing of toric soft contact lenses (TSCL). Methods: After trial contact lenses were worn to 87 eyes with myopic astigmatism for 1 week, we observed the alignment of axis mark on trial contact lenses using slit lamp and corrected the rotated axis by method of LARS. After final fitting, rotation ratio, rotation degree and rotation position were analyzed compared to initial prescription divided to amount of cylinderical and spherical powers. Results: Rotation ratio of TSCL's axis was increased as increment of both cylinderical powers and (-)spherical powers. An average of rotation degree was $10^{\circ}{\sim}13^{\circ}$ which was not related to amount of their powers. Rotation position of TSCL's axis was more to temporal than to nasal. Conclusions: Because mis-alignment of axis after TSCL wearing induce the poor sight, adjustment of axial alignment as a result of follow-up must be performed.

  • This paper was investigated the change of naked visual acuity and the full corrective refractive powers of alcoholicity for 0, 0.05 and 0.1. We research the prescriptions for 9 males and females 9 aged 20 above years. The naked visual acuity was decreased with increasing alcoholicity. Most of tested patients, the spherical refractive powers was also decreased with increasing alcoholicity. The change of the cylinder refractive power was uniformity. For the astigmatism axis. there were many changes.
