Natural Radon Removal Efficiency of Small-scale Water Supply System (국내 마을상수도 지하수의 라돈 자연저감)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the degree of natural radon removal efficiency of small-scale water supply systems. Six sites were selected for this study, and data on well characteristics (depth, pumping rate, water tank capacity, distance from well to tap water) were obtained. Water samples both from raw water and three tap waters at each site were collected and analyzed for radon concentration. Average radon removal efficiency of the five sites (A-E) in Nov. 2006 was 26.0% while that of the same sites in Dec. 2006 was 45.6% indicating seasonal difference in natural radon removal efficiency. Meanwhile short-term (April 23, April 30, May 8, 2007) radon removal efficiency from the site F was 44.1-49.0%, implying only a little difference in natural radon removal efficiency. The degree of radon removal at tap water was influenced mainly by pumping rate rather than distance from the well and water tank capacity.

Changes of Postharvest Quality and Microbial Population in Jujube-Shaped Cherry Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) by Stem Maintenance or Removal (수확 후 꼭지 유지, 제거에 따른 대추형 방울토마토의 품질 및 미생물 변화)

  • Red-ripe 'Betatiny' jujube-shaped cherry tomato fruits via stem maintenance or stem removal were stored at $20^{\circ}C$ for 12 days. Their quality and microbial safety parameters like their respiration rate, weight loss, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA), firmness, hue value, aerobic microflora, coliform, yeast and mold count, and decay were evaluated during their storage. The jujube-shaped cherry tomato fruits whose stems were removed lost less weight than the fruits whose stems were maintained during their 12 days of storage. The stem removal lowered the respiration more significantly than the stem maintenance, and the formation of novel tissues at the stem scar that resulted from the stem removal was observed morphologically. The SSC, TA and hue value of the skin color decreased after eight storage days, but showed no difference between the stem maintenance and removal. The stem had higher microbial counts like aerobic microflora, coliform, and yeast and mold counts. The stem maintenance showed a short shelf-life because molds grew on the attached stem after five storage days. The shelf-life of the jujube-shaped cherry tomato fruits whose stems were removed was about eight days, but that of the fruits whose stems were maintained and that were stored at $20^{\circ}C$ was only about six days.

  • 건고추 꼭지 제거 장치를 설계·제작하고 실험을 통하여 성능을 검증하였다. 원료 함수율 22%(wb)의 경우 꼭지 제거율은 60∼78%, 파지 발생율은 약 4% 정도로 나타났으며, 함수율 19%(wb)의 경우는 꼭지 제거율 90∼97%, 파지 발생율 약 7% 정도를 나타났다. 원료 투입량에 따른 실험 결과 꼭지 제거율 및 파지 발생율 변화가 나타나지 않아 개발된 장치의 안정성을 확인할 수 있었다.

Rapid Determination of Seed and Stem Content in Red Pepper Powder by Near-Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopic Analysis (근적외 분광분석법에 의한 분말고추중의 씨앗 및 꼭지혼입량의 신속한 측정)

  • Red pepper peels stored with seeds or stems in the powder state at $30^{\circ}C$ resulted in decrease of quality components such as capsanthin, capsaicin and total sugars. The effect of seeds on the quality deterioration was larger than stems. A near-infrared reflectance spectroscopic(NIRS) method was evaluated for the determination of seed and stem contents in red pepper peels. The standard error of prediction was 1.76% in seeds and 0.43% in stems. It is concluded that the NIRS method is suitable for the determination of seen and stem contents in red pepper powder.

Acoustic Characteristics of Wedge-shaped Anechoic Tiles with Different Wedge-apex Angles (꼭지각이 다른 쐐기형 무반향 타일의 음향특성)

  • Acoustic characteristics of the wedge-shaped anechoic tiles, used as absorbing lining materials for an anechoic water tank, were investigated for different wedge-apex angles. The anechoic tile base has the dimensions of 400mm x 385mm x 15.5mm. In order to investigate anechoic effect, the wedge-apex angles 30° and 60° were selected by using a ray-tracing method. The reflection loss of the anechoic tiles with and without wedges were experimentally studied at normal incident sound waves in water. In this experiment, the reflection loss of wedge-shaped anechoic tiles with the optimum wedge-apex angle 30° is larger than one with the angle 60° and one without wedges. The experimental results show that the wedge-shaped anechoic tiles with the wedge-apex angle 30°, optimized by using ray-tracing method, turn out better absorbing lining materials of an anechoic water tank.

  • 본 연구에서는 무반향 수조의 내벽 흡음 물질로 사용되는 무반향 타일을 쐐기형으로 제작하여 쐐기의 꼭지 각 변화에 따른 음향학적인 특성을 고찰하였다. 실험에서 사용된 쐐기형 무반향 타일의 크기는 $40{\cal}cm{\times}38.5{\cal}cm$ 이며, 타일을 구성하는 각 쐐기의 길이는 $2.75{\cal}cm$로 고정하고 각각 쐐기의 꼭지각이 $30^\circ$$60^\circ$ 인 타일을 제작하였다. 수중에서 쐐기가 없는 무반향 시료와 쐐기형 무반향 타일에 음파를 수직 입사하여 반사계수를 측정하였으며, 쐐기의 유무와 무반향 타일을 구성하는 쐐기의 꼭지각 변화에 따른 반사 및 흡음 특성을 고찰하였다. 음향특성 임피던스가 $2.14\times10^6$ Pa$\cdot$s/m인 쐐기형 무반향 타일을 25kHz 에서 100kHz의 주파수 영역의 음파를 입사했을 애 쐐기의 꼭지각이 $30^\circ$ 일 때 $60^\circ$보다 압력반사계수가 작고, 반사손실이 증가함을 알 수 있었으며, 그 결과로써 본 실험에서 사용된 $30^\circ$의 쐐기 꼭지각을 갖는 무반향 타일이 내벽 흡음 물질로서 성능이 더 좋다는 것을 확인하였다.

Whitening Effect of Extracts and Fractions from Diospyros kaki calyx (감꼭지 추출물과 분획물의 미백효과)

  • This study was performed to determine the whitening effect of several solvent fractions of Diospyros kaki extracts. Fractions from ethanol extracts of D. kaki were prepared by a systematic fractionation procedure using hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol, and $H_2O$. The ethyl acetate fractions were used to evaluate the inhibitory effects on tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis in B16F10 melanoma cells. Ethyl acetate fractions suppressed the expression of tyrosinase, TRP-1 and TRP-2 in B16F10 melanoma cells. These results showed that ethyl acetate fractions of D. kaki could be developed as a skin whitening material in cosmetics.

Antioxidant Activity of Ethanol Extracts of Non-Edible Parts (stalk, stem.leaf, seed) from Oriental Melon (참외 비식용부위(꼭지, 줄기.잎, 씨) 에탄올추출물의 항산화 활성)

  • In order to elucidate the antioxidant potential of non-edible parts of oriental melon, antioxidant activities and total phenolic compound contents of six samples including peel, placenta, stem leaf, flesh and seed were determined. Antioxidant activities were evaluated using in vitro DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, and SOD assay. Among non-edible parts of oriental melon, stalk showed the highest antioxidant activity and its antioxidant potential increased significantly in a dose-dependent manner. The contents of total phenolic compound were also higher than other parts. The relationship between antioxidant activities and the contents of total phenolic compound were analyzed and showed higher correlation coefficients between ABTS radical scavenging activity and contents of total phenolic compound. The above results suggest that the stalk of oriental melon may have potential as a good source for functional material.

  • 본 논문은 카메라로 획득한 배의 표면과 꼭지 영상을 입력으로 하여 RBF 신경망 기반 분류기를 사용하여 양호한 배인지 아닌지를 판별하는 판별기의 설계에 대해 설명한다. 먼저 입력 영상에서 배경을 분리시킨 후 배만을 포함하는 영상을 얻고 이 영상에서 윤곽선과 같은 여러 가지 특징들을 추출한 후 미리 대량의 표면 영상과 꼭지 영상으로 훈련시킨 두 개의 RBF 신경망 기반 분류기를 사용하여 배의 상태를 판별한다. 구현되는 세부 모듈을 과일 종류에 맞게 수정한다면 제안되는 방법을 사과, 참외와 같은 다른 과일에도 적용할 수 있을 것이다.
