국가 경제규모의 성장과 더불어 하수관거 공사의 규모도, 영세업체들에 의해 소규모 지역별로 시공되던 것에서 벗어나 최근에는 효율적 공사관리와 소요품질의 확보를 위하여 광역화되는 추세에 있다. 광역화의 규모는 2-3개 지자체와 산하의 40-50여개의 마을이 포함될 정도에 이르고 있다. 이러한 하수관거 공사의 규모 확대에 따른 변화에 대응하기 위하여는 적기, 적소에서의 제반 자원의 효율적 활용이 무엇보다 중요한 것으로 분석되었으며 이러한 문제점의 해결방안으로서 IT 기술을 활용한 공사관리시스템을 개발 사용하였다.

Micro EDM milling using deionized water as dielectric fluid was investigated. After machining micro grooves using deionized water with different voltage. capacitance. and resistivity of deionized water, machining characteristics were investigated. The wear of a tool electrode and the machining time can be reduced by using deionized water instead of kerosene. Micro hemispheres were machined in deionized water and kerosene and their machining characteristics were compared.

It is difficult to machine microparts, such as microshaft and microholes, by conventional machining. Such micropart can be easily machined by EDM because it's machining force is very low. In micro-EDM, the precise electrode movement and discharge energy control are important. Therefore, high precision motion stage and EDM device with high performance is necessary. In this research, a new EDM machine was developed and microshaft and microhole, with various shape and size, was machined.
