Comics are a genre that convey meaning through compositional arrangements of dialogue and images as well as through the flow of panels across a page. Communicating that meaning to readers through a combination of language and visual lexicons is the essential process of drawing comics, a process that in itself is significant. The semiotics of comics is a field of scholarship grounded in the broader discipline of semiotic theory in which all the components of comics, both visual and verbal, are the subject of study and research. By adopting a semiotic approach we are able to objectively analyze and understand the symbolic, social and ideological meanings embedded in the signs and sign processes expressed in comics. The fundamental pedagogical mission of teaching comics is to cultivate human nature through the study of theory as well as through the production and completion of original works that explore new modes of expression. To go further, interpreting those embedded meanings in the context of comics fosters effective and creative skills of expression that go beyond a mere fascination for the genre itself. In short, because the semiotic approach to understanding visual communication is the essence teaching comics, we can expect that the act of reading and creating comics plays a significant role in understanding visual communication.

This study is performed to light up the semiotic system of streetscape in the harbor on the basic concept of all cultural phenomena that could be described as a Semiotic System. The semiotic approach to landscape analysis was used for understanding landscape characteristics owing to implication of psychological process. Streets of the study were located at Ganguri and Opori on Gang-Gu Harbor and the signboard semiotics of streets were divided into 17 meanings according to the business category. The analysis of this category was applicable on semiotic meaning. The research results are as follows: First, the main part of the business category was food. 56.3% of Ganguri and 61.8% of Opori had the name of food businesses. Second, the semiotic characteristics of Gang-Gu harbor streets mainly mean place name or friendly name. The food business could be related to the principal products of this district which are called Young-Duk Great Crab. Also, the place name could be from symbolic meaning of the crab and the friendly name could be connected with increasing the sales. Finally, the semiotic approach to landscape does not fully cover the streetscape but could be useful for understanding a skeleton of harbor streetscape.

이 글은 1970년 11월 7일 이화여자대학교 도서관에서 개최된 ‘한국도서관학회 제1회 학술발표회’에서 발표된 필자의 발표논문 요지이다. 이 논문은 원래 ‘표의 구조론에 입각한 우리 나라 저자기호법의 연구’와 ‘저자기호법에 있어서 한글의 기호삼기 문제에 대하여-기호법의 요건과 Syllabic Notation의 원리에 입각한 고찰-’과 ‘동서저자 기호표(제2판, 개정판)의 구성원리와 사용원칙’이란 제목으로 되어 있는 세편의 독립된 논문인데 동학회 학술발표회를 위하여 Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,으로 요약하여 발효한 것이다. 이 논문들의 지상발표는 Ⅰ은 한국도서관학회지 제1집에, Ⅱ는 연세학교 Ⅱ‘인문과학’ 제24집(1970년 12월)에, Ⅲ은 본 기관지에 각각 실릴 예정이다.

본 논문은 정수론에 있어서 Legendre 기호의 응용인 Jacobi기호를 이용한 암호화 프로토콜의 정의, 성질 및 확장에 대해 논한다. 본 논문은 먼저 Legender기호와 Jacobi기호의 정의와 성질에 대하여 살펴보고 이를 이용한 프로토콜에 대한 설명을 하며 그 알고리즘을 구축하여 다른 프로토콜과의 비교를 통하여 이 프로토콜의 안전성과 신속성을 고찰한다.

This study aims at the spatial analysis in semiotic architecture focusing on the early works of M. Graves and P. Eisenman, the representative architects of semiotic architecture. This study on the semiotics of architectural space can be started with literaeur's approaches which recognizes it as the language. Thus, to applicate semiotics in architectural space means a methodology reaching for essential architecture. The conclusions of the study as per the above mentioned aims and intentions are as follows: The viewpoint of spatial analysis in M. Graves's semiotic architecture is defined the semantic metaphorical space of denotative context : That of P. Eisenman's described the synthetic deep of connotative self-restraint.

본 논문에서는 사춘기 여고생들의 기능성 화장품의 신상품 개발과 성능 향상을 위한 효율적인 정보의 분석과 생산 정책을 위한 SNS 분석시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 여고생들의 기능성 화장품에 관한 SNS 내용을 분석하기 위한 효율적 알고리즘과 방법론을 제안하여 시스템의 처리량을 최대화하고, 각 작업의 수행시간을 최소화한다. 또한 여고생들의 기능성 화장품에 대한 기호 상태를 파악하여, 그 분석 결과를 제품의 개발 및 생산에 반영하기 위한 비주얼 방법론을 함께 제안한다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안하는 시스템은 단지 화장품에 대한 분석뿐만 아니라 이와 비슷한 소비자의 기호가 빠르게 변화하는 제조업 분야에서 다양하게 응용이 가능하다.

본 연구에서는 토목분야의 엔지니어링 문서를 대상으로 자동으로 문장의 계층을 정의하여 비 구조화 문서를 준 구조화 문서로 변환하는 방법론을 제시하고, 이를 시범적으로 구현하였다. 이는 기본적으로 문장의 머리기호가 그 문서에서의 계층을 표현한다는 점을 바탕으로 연구가 이루어졌다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 첫째, 문장을 머리기호와 내용으로 분리하는 방법을 개발하였고, 둘째, 분리한 머리기호를 바탕으로 머리기호간 상대적인 위치를 파악하여 문장의 계층을 정의하는 프로세스를 제안하였다. 또한 제안한 방법을 이용하여 구현한 시범 모듈을 실무에서 사용하는 엔지니어링 문서를 대상으로 성능을 평가하여 개발한 모듈의 효용성을 검증하였다.

기존의 자연어 의미 표상 방법은 크게 나눠보았을 때 두 가지가 있다. 첫 번째로, 전통적인 기호 기반 의미 표상 방법론이다. 이 방법론들은 논리적이고 해석가능하다는 장점이 있으나, 구축에 시간이 많이 들고 정작 기호 자체의 의미를 더욱 미시적으로 파악하기 어렵다는 단점이 있었다. 반면, 최근 대두된 분산 표상의 경우 단어 하나하나의 의미는 상대적으로 잘 파악하는 반면, 문장 등의 복잡한 구조의 의미를 나타내는 데 있어 상대적으로 약한 측면을 보이며 해석가능하지 않다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 둘의 장점을 섞어서 서로의 단점을 보완하는 새로운 의미 표상을 제안하였으며, 이 표상이 유의미하게 문장의 의미를 담고 있음을 비지도 문장 군집화 문제를 통해 간접적으로 보였다.

Epistemology in which only subject and object of cognition exist can't play a role well in the society. In this paper we analyze structuralism which discusses linguistic and social conditions that make subject of cognition possible and semiologic epistemology's philosophical base with three keywords: subject, structure and discourse. Signification by the signs' relation not object of cognition and construct of subject make meaning of sign in network of signs. The construct exists before subject and subject can exist in the structural order. In understanding and analyzing learning of mathematics, this point of view makes you consider the other problems besides construction by subject.

The study on the analytical and productive methodolgy of visual culture contents is meaningful because cultural contents are regarded as a national growth industry. The fundamental notion of cultural contents is researched based on the notion of visual culture, and important factors of the fun are analyzed as a creative motive of visual culture contents. So this paper provides anaytical methodologies for the fun in visual culture contents, which are based on semiotic theories of Charles Morris, Roland Barthes and Roman Jakobson. These analytical matrix can be references for the study of the mechanism of fun and the basic theory for using fun effects in the visual culture contents.
