Cell Opening of High Resilience Polyurethane Foam I. Concentration Effect of Polyether Type Cell Opener (고탄성 폴리우레탄 발포체의 기포개방 I. 폴리에테르형 기포개방제의 농도 영향)

  • High resilience PU foams were prepared with polyether type cell opener. The influences of cell opener concentration on the kinetics, rheology, structural stability morphology and open cell content of the obtained foam were investigated and the role of cell opener during cell opening was determined. And mechanical properties as a function of cell opener concentration were studied. It was observed that urea formation reaction was delayed due to high hydrophilicity of cell opener The decrease of viscosity and the increase of tan $\delta$ were confirmed with increasing cell opener concentration so that the resulted foam had low structural stability and high open cell content. The deterioration of matrix and uniform dispersion of hydrogen-bonded urea in matrix with cell opener concentration was revealed by SEM analysis. As a result, elastic properties of the foam matrix were decreased due to high hydrophilicity of cell opener during the preparation of high resilience polyurethane foam and foam with high open cell content resulted. Hardness, tensile strength, tear strength, elongation of foam were decreased with increasing cell opener concentration.

  • For the preparation of high resilience polyurethane (PU) foams with polyether type cell openers which have different ethylene oxide (EO) content, molecular weight and chain structure, the influences of tell opener structure on the kinetics, rheology, structural stability, open cell content and mechanical properties of the obtained foam were investigated. It was observed that urea formation reaction was delayed with the increase of EO content and incorporation of ester linkage in cell opener molecule and was relatively independent on the molecular weight. With the rheological studies, the decreases of viscosity and storage modulus were confirmed for the increase of EO content and molecular weight, so that the resulted foam had low structural stability and high open cell content. The cell opener having ester linkage in molecule exhibited the lowest values of viscosity and storage modulus and the obtained foam has high open cell content. However, the structural stability increased due to the larger intermolecular interaction of ester linkage. The hardness, tensile strength, tear strength and elongation of foam were deteriorated with increase of EO content and molecular weight of tell opener. On the other hand, the cell opener having ester linkage in molecule improved the values of tensile strength, tear strength and elongation.

  • In this paper, the reliability of the numerical analysis using the two phase flow on the behavior of the hydrogen bubbles in the alkali electrolysis stacks was investigated by comparing the results obtained from numerical analysis and flow visualization experiments. As the results, through comparison with results gotten to visualization experiments, it is possible to approximate analysis for the flow of hydrogen bubbles in the stacks by numerical analysis using the two-phase flow. Also, the flow of hydrogen bubbles around the electrodes could be similarly analyzed by numerical analysis using the two-phase flow.

  • The goal of this study was to develop a venturi-type air bubble generator with a porous material throat. Using the two-phase multi-flow CFD analysis for the venturi tube, researchers determined the optimal design of major dimensions, such as the venturi throat length and diameter, in order to control the performance of the air bubble supply through the porous material throat in a venturi tube. Researchers then determined the relationship between the flow rate of supply water and the major design dimensions of the venturi-type air generator for maximizing the performance of the air bubble supply through the porous material throat in a venturi tube.

  • 실기 중심의 수업에서 대부분의 학습자들이 반복되는 기능 습득으로 목표점에 도달할 수 있다. 이러한 행동주의적인 학습방법에도 기포적인 이론 즉 인지주의적인 학습이 뒷받침되어야 기능 습득이 효과적으로 된다고 본다. 특히 여기서 다루고자하는 전기회로 실습에서는 기기의 동작원리 및 동작되는 기기에 따라 변화되는 회로의 이해가 학습자에게 무엇보다 중요하다. 그러므로 실습에 사용되는 요소별 회로도의 이해를 돕기 위하여 동영상으로 된 회로분석도가 필요하다. 오늘간 일상 생활에서부터 각종 산업분야에 이르기까지 전기 분야가 차지하는 비중은 매우 크다. 전기분야는 전기이론, 전기기기, 전력, 자동제어, 전기응용, 전기측정, 전기실습 등 여러 분야가 있으나, 전기실습은 공업계 고등학교 학생들에게 곡 필요한 과목이며, 다른 과목의 이해를 돕게 하는 기초적인 요소이다. 여기에서는 이러한 전기실습의 효과를 높이기 위하여 동영상으로 된 회로 분석도를 작성하였다.

Two-dimensional Numerical Simulation of the Contact Angle and the Bubble Necking Using the Two Phase Lattice Boltzmann Method (2상 격자 볼츠만 방법을 이용한 접촉각과 Bubble Necking 2차원 수치 모사)

  • Free energy based lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has been used to simulate the contact angle and the bubble necking with large density ratio. LBM with the proper contact angle model is able to reduce the spurious currents and eliminate the singularity in the contact lines. The numerical results of the contact angles are satisfied with the Youngs law. For bubble necking flows, simulations are executed for various viscosities and contact angles. The phenomena of the bubble necking are simulated successfully and the subsequent results are presented. The present method is also applicable to the nucleate boiling flows.

A Study on Effect of the Shape of Electrodes in Alkaline Water Electrolysis (알카리 수전해에서 전극 형상의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • For an investigation on the effect of the shape of electrodes in alkaline water electrolysis, two kinds of stack with circular and square electrode array are used to visualize both for behaviors of hydrogen bubble around the electrodes and for measurements of hydrogen production from these two stacks. The electrolytes for the hydrogen production experiment were applied for 20 wt%, 25 wt%, 30 wt% and 35 wt% of KOH alkaline aqueous solutions. As a result, the adhesion length of bubbles attached around the square electrode in the visualization experiment was found to be 1.7 times longer compared with the attached around the circular electrode. In the hydrogen production experiments, the volume of hydrogen production of the stack by using circular electrode array was approximately 3% more than that of the stack with square electrode array. These observations may be caused by the effect of the bubbles attached to the around the electrodes obstructing mass transfer such as hydrogen exhaust and electrolyte supply.

Effect of Casting Thickness and Plunger Velocity on Porosity in Al Plate Diecasting (Al 박육 다이캐스팅 주물에서 기포결함에 미치는 주물두께, 사출속도의 영향)

  • The Al die casting process has been widely used in the manufacturing of automotive parts when the process requires near-net shape casting and a high productive rate. However, porosity arises in the casting process, and this hampers the wider use of this method for the creation of high-durability automotive components. The porosity can be controlled by the shot condition, but, it is critical to set the shot condition in the sleeve, and it remains difficult to optimize the shot condition to avoid air entrapment efficiently. In this study, the 4.5 mm, 2.0 mm plate die castings were fabricated under various shot conditions, such as plunger velocities of 0.7 m/s ~ 3.0 m/s and fast shot set points of the cavity of -25%, 0%, 25%, and 50%. The mold filling behavior of Al melts in the cavity was analyzed by a numerical method. Also, according to the shot conditions, the results of numerical analyses were compared to those of die-casting experiments. The porosity levels of the plate castings were analyzed by X-ray CT images and by density and microstructural analyses. The effects of the porosity on the mechanical properties were analyzed by tensile tests and hardness tests. The simulation results are in good general agreements with the die-casting experimental results. When plunger velocity and fast shot set point are 1.0 m/s and cavity 25% position, castings had optimum condition for good mechanical properties and a low level of porosity.

A Study on the Neutron in Radiation Treatment System and Related Facility (방사선치료 장치 및 관련시설에서의 산란 중성자에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose : It is known that the neutron is generally generated from the photon, its energy is larger than 10 MV. The neutron is leaked in the container inspection system installed at the customs though its energy is below 9 MV. It is needed that the spacial effect of the neutrons released from radiation treatment machine, linac, installed in the medical canter. Materials and Methods : The medical linear accelerator(Clinac 1800, varian, USA) was used in the experiment. Measuring neutron was used bubble detector(Bubble detector, BDPND type, BTI, Canada) which was created bubble by neutron. The bubble detector is located on the medical linear accelerator outskirt in three different distance, 30, 50, 120 cm and upper, lower four point from the iso-center. In addition, for effect on protect material we have measured eight points which are 50 cm distance from iso-center. The SAD(source-axis-distance), distance from photon source to iso-center, is adjusted to 100 cm and the field size is adjusted to $15{\times}15cm^2$. Irradiate 20 MU and calculate the dose rate in mrem/MU by measuring the number of bubble. Results : The neutron is more detected at 5 position in 30, 50 cm, 7 position in 120 cm and with wedge, and 2 position without mount. Conclusion : Though detection position is laid in the same distance in neutron measurement, the different value is shown in measuring results. Also, neutron dose is affected by the additional structure, the different value is obtained in each measurement positions. So, it is needed to measure and evaluate the neutron dose in the whole space considering the effect of the distance, angular distribution and additional structure.
